Found this really helpful. As my Cirrus SF50 did not have the autothrottle I downloaded the Mod 'Cirrus Vision Jet SF50 G2' from X plane forum. Thanks a ton.
I'm new to the G1000's controls, as well as X-Plane 11 itself. This video helped a lot! I forgot to reset the designated altitude in the PFD, and VPTH did not descend 🤷♂️
Explaining that you can't activate VNAV after you passed the TOD cleared up about a weeks worth of frustration lol. Thanks for the video, I am new to flying and sims, your simple explanation was so much more helpful than some of the one and two hour videos out there.
Excellent tutorial with some very good points and additional notes of relevance. I am a new simmer and am enjoying flying the Cirrus SF50, so this video was spot on for my progress in learning about IFR approaches.
Wow.... Thank you for this video. I have been flying the EMB-505 and have been having major issues with VNAV that all the other videos I watched didn't solve. Great job and great explanation.
Simple explanation on the use of VNAV. Great job on handling a topic of Flight Sim that often seems to be so overcomplicated. Tell me the time don't build me a watch. Great job brother !!!
Thanks !! I'm on XP11 with G1000 on C172 and I'm learning how to use G1000. I find this descent system using VPATH in X-Plane very difficult, I wonder if in real life the plane only descends if you select the altitude like you did (blue altitude). I thought he already did the TOD alone, as the departure and arrival airport would already be filled in on the GPS. Well, I'm not a real pilot, so I have no way of knowing, but in the XP11 it's very bureaucratic for it to descend "alone" via "VPATH". Obrigado !! Eu vou no XP11 com G1000 no C172 e estou aprendendo a usar o G1000.
How do you have autothrottle? :) I flew XP11 and 12, but the SF50 (Gen1) doesn't have autothrottle of any kind, as far as I know. And it's not even in my X-Planes. But you have. How did you get it? :) Thank you anyway, earlier, I didn't understand two key points of VNAV until now. So I'm very grateful to you. Another thing, it's in the offical checklist that you make sure the handbrake is released before landing. After landing, even the toe brakes must be used very carefully, especially that the Cirrus has a hot break problem.
I watched your video today and it cleared up many questions about VNAV in the G1000, particularly that it does not handle ascent procedures. Thank you for your clear and precise review of this system. Watching this video inspired me to resurrect my edition of the XP Cirrus SF50 and I am now puzzled... my version does not seem to have the auto-throttle panel yours has. Am I just missing a switch somewhere or is your version of this aircraft different than the default XP Cirrus SF50. If so can you tell me where I can get this? Thanks again very much. - Steve H
Thanks for your support! I was flying the free Mod 'Cirrus Vision Jet SF50 G2' (with autothrottle) by Gadflyii, to be found on: forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/49550-cirrus-vision-jet-sf50-g2/
Ahh yes. I actually downloaded that yesterday but was having other issues which led to replacing the Cirrus with the updated default. I will reinstall the Mod version. Thank you very much for the link. @@logicautopilot
Hey! Thank you for this video, really helpful! One question though. I didn't see you hitting the Approach button , although you said you will.Thank you!
A "real" G1000 (i.e., one in an actual plane) says "vertical path" when the plane is 1 minute from top of descent. Does the X-Plane G1000 say "vertical path" too? I though it does, but my X-Plane G1000 hasn't said anything at the 1 minute mark.
All of this makes sense but for one thing. None of it works the way it is illustrated using the mod you suggest. No auto throttle, VNAv is doing nothing. and it does not lock onto the LOC. Are. you referring to v 1.9 or am I missing something here? I would love to get mine working the way your tutorial indicates it should. My flight has been from CYYJ to KSEA. At least I get to see the TOD indicator on the G1000. Help please.

Ah, you cleared that up beautifully. Thank you very much!
Wow. thanks for you explanation. Short and sweet video. Now... I learned a lot of stuff...

Thanks great lesson
Great Video. Thanks
very good tutorial !
thank you mate !! : )
Good video! Do you know of any other planes that have an autopilot with a working VNAV button?

Sorry, should had looked below for my answer... I see that you responded to Steve H.

Nice video! How did you get an auto throttle? Mine doesn't have.
Sorry, got your answer)))
Did you pressed at a certain point also the App button?
Yes. Probably I used a shortcut. Only the Localizer will be captured automatically but not the glideslope.
Auto Throttle???? where is that?
