All of the cucumelons I've seen look like tiny watermelons. Kinda green striped. I don't know what those are. You could send a picture in an email to your local extention office and see if they know.
Google has a lot of information on these. Yes, it’s a wild cucumber vine. Non edible and poisonous to dogs and other animals. They aren’t invasive and are pretty, but they can take over in a hurry if you don’t control them. I had never heard of them, so really interesting to find out about them. Have a nice Sunday, my friend 😊💕🙏
Wow! That's good information you got. I googled the picture, and it wasn't giving me much of anything. The vine is definitely beautiful, and i was so surprised to see the fruit! Thank you for taking your time to look and to respond to my question. I really appreciate that. 🙏
We have cucumelons but they’re striped. I’ll have to look closer at the leaves next time I’m down there and see if those look the same. 😊👍❤️that would be awesome if those were cucumelon!!!
Thank you, Tammy, please do. I want to say that they ended up with stripes but could just be a coincidence. It would be totally super neat if they were though. They sure are pretty regardless. lol. Have a great day my friend. Hope all is well and thriving on your homestead!
Thanks! That makes sense. The green ones smelled fresh & the black ones were mushy & didn't smell so fresh. Lol 😆 The chickens were really enjoying the greens.
You gonna hear a lot of things. Trust your goats and cows. Also pigs and chickens. These animals won't eat poisonous plants as a rule. I'm no expert though. I will say this our goats and cow eat polk salad and haven't even gotten sick. I'm gonna say see if there's a plant expert at your local extension office. As a rule vining plants will become a nuisance. Good luck and I'll watch for an update.
Thank you so much. The chickens ate them & seemed to want more. Lol. I think I will take your advice & contact local extension office & see what they say. Thank you for your guidance. Very much appreciated 🙏
They are edible. Green Dean from Eat The Weeds says the ripe ones are the mother of all laxatives.

Oh thanks, that's a good idea. Google didn't give me much when I googled a pic. I was so excited when I opened one up.

So fun finding new things growing in your own backyard. 😊🌿 The chickens loved them. We haven't tried them yet. 😂

Returning your visit😉
Thank you so much Lori. 💓
My kids eat the green ones. Don't eat the black from what I heard. They don't taste that good.
