I am both interested and wary of this game. If done right I think it can be a lot of fun, and as an avid Dune fan since age 15, I have always wanted to explore Arrakis. But I am wary about how the devs will treat the source material. I really like that it is set in an "alternate" universe overall, but there could be many pitfalls around this as well. Nah his suit is specially rigged to give him Dr. Pepper, and since he drinks that so much I imagine he sweats Dr. Pepper now so theoretically it should still work for him lol
Overall, I get a sense of that the devs have been able to explore some really cool environmental setting ideas. Because of the barren, unused planet, it's easy to think that natural structures of the landscape would occur in really big ways, such as Mars' Olympus Mons mountain at the north pole, or the Red Eye storm on Jupiter.
Olympus Mons isn't on any pole of Mars but I could understand why someone would think that because it's so massive and kind of has the shape of an ice cap. It is a beautiful landmark though. It's a massive shield volcano/mountain, about as large as France the entire country and twice the height of Everest. I think Everest is 28k feet and Olympus Mons is somewhere around 60k feet. Anyway that's my ramble over I love Mars
Probably not, but you can solo in Exiles, even on PvP servers, and that seems to be their blueprint for this game. It will just mean having your wits about you in PvP areas.

As a beta access player of Conan Exiles with over 1,500 hours logged on Steam, my expectations for the upcoming Dune game are mixed. I anticipate a title with immense potential, but I'm concerned it will launch in a buggy and unpolished state, plagued by poor server performance and extreme lag, making it a playground for cheaters. I'm also wary that the developers may release only sporadic updates, adding minor features occasionally, until they eventually shift focus to a new project, leaving the game behind.
That was released in 2017 no? There is always problems on launch for big releases. With completely new server tech and the fact thats its now 2024 and counting... I'm optimistic living in the now, as opposed to being hung up on past issues.
like they did with The Secret World.. They straight smooth forgot about the anniversary this year.. mind you, all you get is a cosmetic t-shirt with a number on it (this year was 7) and they could'nt even manage that.. They feel like a scam company now..
Its relatively easy to have good PvP.. make it skill based and or give 5 players the opportunity to outplay 10 if they're good. Clever positioning.. one or two shot snipes, hiding under sand.. Surprise attacks.. Ingame Proxi Chat to negotiate.. Traps usw..
I don't even like Dune and I'd play this. Looking forward to seeing how heavy they lean into the survival stuff, which I'm not a huge fan of but can handle some survival-lite mechanics. The optional PvP and optional group-play appeal to me as someone who tends to prefer solo or very small group PvE play.
It all sounds very interesting. I can't help but be worried about the lack of gameplay shared so far but Gamescom should finally fix that. Looking forward to any update about this game. With this new info I very much wonder what the Solo player experience will be like.
This game sounds better and better. I hope it lives up to its hype. Conan exiles was a good game so I have high hopes for this one, especially with the Dune setting. Looking at how they handled the movies, I dont think Dune rights holders will let this game be a mess.
Sounds like it'll be very interesting. I hope when they expand it they do lean towards getting some more PVE activities that solo players can achieve. I think games that lean heavily into the PVP like Rust are very cool, but it's not really what I personally want out of a survival game. Would be cool to see things that solo players can contribute to for guilds without having to go battle in the deep desert. All around it seems like it'll be neat though. I'm certainly gonna give it a shot. EDIT: I actually want to add though, I am getting kind of tired of just hearing about it. I feel like it was announced like 5 years ago at this point haha I'm sure that's not quite right but it's been a while and we've seen so little footage.
Here's betting they're not that unique lol. Any time people fantasize about exclusive possibilities they get met with cold hard reality on launch. Developers almost always prioritize accessibility over exclusivity. If you want that play a pay to win game.
I just checked very quickly, Conan Exiles's map is roughly the same size as TES V : Skyrim (50-ish Km²). Imma be generous here and estimate Hagga Basin is 55-60 Km². That would mean that the deep desert would be close to 540 Km², two maps combined (before any extensions are added) could be close to 600 Km²... GOD DAYUM !!! I'm no expert in MMO but that seems huge. Hell the Ragnarok map in ARK is 144 Km². That's gonna be a huge sandbox (pun obviously intended) to play in.
I'm sure, just like in Conan Exiles, all the points of interest will be camped by a handful of players/guilds so you can't take "their" resources. I sure hope there is gunna be server hosting.
Honestly just play pve it's a mich better experience pvp always ends up with megatribes you either join them or end up enslaved by them unless you're the crazy masochist who loves getting their face kicked in just to get one win after hours of dying
If they want to make the game solo friendly, have a Match Making/Looking For group feature in game. Solo players can queue for these events and forge alliances.
Yeah I agree they are dragging their feet. It seems really far along already but they are so fixated on trying to be "perfect" going into EA I think they are really missing out on the hype after the movie release and the have sooooo many ads for the game when there's not even a release date or pre-orders
Just thinking of all the possibilities of content like spike harvesting and defending it, sandwalking, worm riding, melee combat with the body shields and so on. Can be really good, staying sceptical tho
There is some greenery on Arrakis, that's why the fremen bribe the spacing guild to forbid any satellites around the planet. So while the planet is mostly desert, there are patches of vegetation.
Still zero expectations for this game because I have no trust whatsoever in the conan exiles devs to deliver on their promises. I know for a fact that I wont be buying this in the first week and will be watching a ton of reviews beforehand.
as someone who doesn't like deserts, I'm pretty excited for this game. it sounds great. although I still enjoy Conan Exiles (PvE), so I might just be the target audience.
Yea, at this point I'm pretty much over the hype of new MMOs releasing. Time after time, half of the features talked about whenever a new game comes around seems like they're either gonna drop them, or deliver them half baked compared to how they hyped them up. And just looking at the footage released so far, it just looks like a game destined for failure. Yes, it's early footage of the unfinished game and I've considered that, but the point still stands, the time for MMORPGs is just over, and I have little hope that Dune or any of the other games that have been taking forever in development (ahem Ashes of Creation ahem) will ever come close to the late 90's and early 2000's run of MMOs.
They will add different biomes, but it will be in the form of the other expansion planets. They have definitely thought of this for environment burnout.
Thank you so much for taking an interest in this. I really hope it lives up to the hype and succeeds ♥

Its relatively easy to have good PvP.. make it skill based and or give 5 players the opportunity to outplay 10 if they're good. Clever positioning.. one or two shot snipes, hiding under sand.. Surprise attacks.. Ingame Proxi Chat to negotiate.. Traps usw..
lets just wait for gameplay and see.
I wasn’t very interested in this until watching this video. I’ll definitely be picking this up and I’ll try and convince my friends too lol
I’ll be waiting. Ready to play!
KEEP DOING DUNE COVERAGE!
Doing the Lords work, keep a look out for some deep analysis videos Ill be putting out tonight-tomorrow~!
Thank you, for the information, I am really curious to see how the game will eventually play when it gets released.
Heretic!
It all sounds very interesting. I can't help but be worried about the lack of gameplay shared so far but Gamescom should finally fix that. Looking forward to any update about this game.
With this new info I very much wonder what the Solo player experience will be like.
Just cant wait for this !
I'm not a survival game type of guy, but this game does seem to be pretty unique and interesting
play once human, is kinda same but less ambicious
I played conan and many other survival.s this has potential to be amazing!!! Pvp gonna be lit!!!
the fact that there are actually uUNIQUE schematics is enough to make this exciting af.
Here's betting they're not that unique lol. Any time people fantasize about exclusive possibilities they get met with cold hard reality on launch. Developers almost always prioritize accessibility over exclusivity. If you want that play a pay to win game.
so hyped for this game on Xbox Series X 🙌 love Conan Exiles (still going strong with content and quality of lifeupdates like 8 years after release)
Wide as an ocean, but deep as a puddle. Calling it now.
man i cant wait for this game to release, its gonna be fire
Hmm I was looking forward to this. However the more I hear about it the more I just want to continue playing "Once Human".
As long as they don't focus on realistic graphics then I cant wait
Ornithopter fighting sounds fun, hopefully there's a diverse weapon kit.
I want this game to be good because I think it’s a great concept. Plus I’m a big fan of Dune
That's gonna be a huge sandbox (pun obviously intended) to play in.
cant wait for this game , im sure this will fun
I actually can’t wait to try out the pvp and my friends are the same way, hope they add pve battles for everyone else though
Can’t wait for this
I'm sure, just like in Conan Exiles, all the points of interest will be camped by a handful of players/guilds so you can't take "their" resources. I sure hope there is gunna be server hosting.
Join one of those guilds.
I also forgot about tons of bugs.
Honestly just play pve it's a mich better experience pvp always ends up with megatribes you either join them or end up enslaved by them unless you're the crazy masochist who loves getting their face kicked in just to get one win after hours of dying
@@chasecarroll3 Those guilds are filled with elitist who only let you join if you match whatever criteria they make up.
And that’s good
Oh im so ready for this. I just hope that its what they say.
If they want to make the game solo friendly, have a Match Making/Looking For group feature in game. Solo players can queue for these events and forge alliances.
Needing a group is inherently not solo friendly
Would be nice to know the release date, they are literally killing the hype already
Yeah I agree they are dragging their feet. It seems really far along already but they are so fixated on trying to be "perfect" going into EA I think they are really missing out on the hype after the movie release and the have sooooo many ads for the game when there's not even a release date or pre-orders
I'll believe the server meshing works when I see it. Hope it does.
Just thinking of all the possibilities of content like spike harvesting and defending it, sandwalking, worm riding, melee combat with the body shields and so on. Can be really good, staying sceptical tho
this game sounds awesome, im curious what the player level combat really looks like though
Gonna spend a lot of time in this one ❤
Thanks for bring us some info
Pretty simple to solve a bunch of the griefing issues (not all of course): Just make it so, that fleeing is always faster than chasing.
There is some greenery on Arrakis, that's why the fremen bribe the spacing guild to forbid any satellites around the planet. So while the planet is mostly desert, there are patches of vegetation.
Love the idea of the flying mount "but"...in any mmo, it really k*lls the fun and community relation.
For accessing end game content is fine. You can expect people to do an hour walk to the POI right?
I like your thumbnails crazy faces
Haven't watched or read Dune yet but this MMO seems interesting
You won’t regret it. It’s not a typical mainstream sci-fi
The books are very interesting (at least the first three) and the news movies are fantastic. Highly recommend at least watching the movies
@@OriGummie Oh I've heard the praise, just haven't got around to it yet. Been reading a lot of web comics lately
Conan form Funcom was good so believe this will be better
Still zero expectations for this game because I have no trust whatsoever in the conan exiles devs to deliver on their promises. I know for a fact that I wont be buying this in the first week and will be watching a ton of reviews beforehand.
Been registered for 8 months. No invites. So guessing betas next year.
as someone who doesn't like deserts, I'm pretty excited for this game. it sounds great.
although I still enjoy Conan Exiles (PvE), so I might just be the target audience.
Hopefully, the devs get the zerging under control with some kind of match making service.
I honestly think this game will fail to deliver on atleast 50% of its promises, this is funcom we're talking about.
its already garbage DEI, doesnt even have females just "body type B" lmao. brainrot game.
I just want a damn Anarchy Online 2
Age of Conan.....
Conan exiles hallo? Hundreds and hundreds of hours in it, and still love it. Im sure, that game will satisfy me for many hours too.
They will add different biomes, but it will be in the form of the other expansion planets. They have definitely thought of this for environment burnout.
