Heading to Asuncion hopefully by March with a friend and applying for permanent residency. Escaping the U.S., yes even Florida. It was interesting to hear there was such an interest in Paraguay that it is affecting housing. Glad you escaped Austria. We may need to consult or be friends.

Wow! How many cost of living for single person in Paraguay in Asunción and other towns in the USD? I am just wondering about living in PY in the far future in my retirement, I am only 26.
yea with 26 you might still have a while to go, but for sure a great idea to set some goals. you might wanna even come here before you decide to retire. Asuncion is a great city that has a lot to offer. it’s safe and very green and the people are friendly. the cost of living depends a lot on your desired living standard. as a couple, you can live well at around 1000 USD per person. that includes a one bedroom apartment in a high rise building with swimming pool and gym or a rental house and some good food that you cook at home. obviously if you eat out a lot or spend money at bars or clubs, this can go up higher for sure. also as an expat who is single, your costs will probably higher, or you need to make compromises in your living standard. let me know if that answered your question. Thank you 🙌🏼 Land in Paraguay can still be bought for pretty awesome prices. We havent looked into agricultural land but we know of many people who are running their own farms. A good place to look for land in Paraguay is Facebook Marketplace. People in Paraguay seem to love to place their Land and other items for sale on Facebook. I hope you find a good patch for yourself, we for sure keep an eye open for good deals!

Also as an Indian citizen it is possible to get that Paraguayan permanent residency. The citizenship is a different topic though. It is a lot harder to obtain, will take years and requires you to proof that you are “Paraguayan” enough to be allowed as a citizen. Many people try each year but very few are accepted.
