Warning : zwift hub is being discontinued. They have committed to supporting it for 2 years, but IMO you would be mad to buy it when there are other great trainers available at similar prices.

I wonder if they'll heavily discount it to get rid of stock, but that would eat into Core sales. Maybe they'll try to offload it abroad or donate some to schools and poorer countries to encourage more people to get into cycling and fitness and for the good PR?
Then again both companies likely make most of their profits from subscriptions, accessories and in Wahoo's case their higher-priced trainers, bikes and now treadmill so it probably doesn't matter much in the end what they do with remaining Hub/One stock.
And yes, I agree, the Core is the only one to buy now (unless the Hub is heavily discounted and you're willing to chance support ending in a few years) in entry-level direct drive trainers, and the only real choice is which version to get. I just got one myself last month.

Is it the trainer that’s being discontinued or the hub one part? Also if I bought the wahoo with the hub one could I at a later date install a cassette?

@@leighcooksey3105the whole trainer is being discontinued. If you bought a kickr core with the hub one, it would be really easy to remove and put a cassette on. It is just two plastic spacers with a single speed cog in the center on a normal free hub.

@@leighcooksey3105 the Hub One parts are not being discontinued. It's basically just being rebranded under Wahoo.

Thank you. A helpful comparison. For me, the absolute accuracy is not going to be a big issue (I'm not a youngster pushing racing performance) so ease of use is key, as well as longevity. I would also want easy compatibility with different bikes of different specs - no doubt other members of the family would want a go. I wouldn't want to spend out on something that won't be supported long before it's worn out or obsolete. So the Decathlon option is out for the extra costs and it's a toss up between the other two 🤔

With the Hub One being discontinued and the Van Rysel, which looks like a film projector, being slightly less capable than the Core and also less compact, I'd say that the Core is the only viable choice among entry level direct drive trainers, the only choice being between the cassette or Zwift Hub versions.
Now if only it were possible to harness the energy you put into these to power them and perhaps even a fan, now that would be amazing. I mean even the weakest riders are putting out more power on average than both really need, and the resistance unit is basically a generator. But that's a whole other thing.

I have a KICKR Core. I wouldn't exactly call it "budget". I'd call the standard KICKR overpriced.

It's not a budget trainer, true, but it is a budget direct drive trainer. A true budget trainer is like the one I found on the street a few years ago on recycling day, for free. Wasn't actually that bad, for a wheel-on dumb trainer, but I'm so glad I upgraded to the Core.

My Kickr 2020 just broken (not sending power data and no resistance while speed and cad are ok,) then i sell it and switched to a T2.
IMO all smart trainer are same if you trust your power meter on you bike and take it for your only power source. In this case differences are only how it looks and noice level. Trainer only do ERG or zwift controls not really have any difference.
Higher price is you want to buy the precise power meter on the trainer. And you wanted to trust it as a power source. And please remember you only got your trusted power data while you have only one power source or more than three sources. If you have only on frame source and a trainer, you don't know which one is more trustable.
If you use your same or only bike on road and on trainer, then just get a trustable power meter and use a cheaper smart trainer and let it only do ERG and Zwift things. Or if you like me do all my training on Zwift and outdoor just for commuting and fun, I've happy to sell all my power meters and just come back to ride outside with HR only and do training every night on Trainer.
Still with your bike on and off trainer fequrently, a better power meter is recommended more than a high end trainer.

    Thanks for the awesome video!
I need some help....for each unit.
What is the storage temperature range?
What is the starting temperature range?
Does using Zwift affect the speed reported by the trainer to the head unit (like a Garmin 530?) - within some tolerance - but not absurd values of over 100mph

    Good evening.
For new users who are thinking of buying a bike and a direct drive trainer now, which would be best? Kickr Core , Kickr core one , other?
The budget is within the kickr core range.
    Thank you all

It less a test rather more a reading down of Spec lists. I am also missing a sound Test.
BTW i got Zwift and Wahoo Trainer and made a Sound comparison. The Kickr Core is a peace sh*t. Its the third unit with these sounds.

I was going to get a Snap but ended up getting a Core, in my case mainly due to noise issues. I live in an older apartment building with poor sound insulation and and the downstairs neighbors aren't the nicest people in the world, and I didn't want any issues with them or the landlord. The Core still makes some noise but it's not bad at all and with a foam mat I doubt that they hear anything at all and if they do then it's nothing that they have a right to complain about during the day. That wouldn't have been the case with the Snap.
