When he has time to think about it, Usopp can be kinda scary. Since he's not one of the monsters, he goes with more unconventional means; not knowing what to expect is what makes it a little scary.

So, just to confirm, the part where Vivi said they all had Devil Fruits was a mistake. Mr 4 is naturally strong and Lassoo has a Devil Fruit, but Mr 4 himself has not eaten one. Neither did Miss Goldenweek, for the record; her hypnotic art comes from just being That Skilled at painting.
Personally, I'm convinced all hypnotists in One Piece (including Goldenweek and Vivi herself) ate some of the same mushroom Jango did. It would explain a lot...

Virtually any other author would have made Chopper a boy who ate the reindeer fruit but literally the second zoan fruit user we see is a reindeer who ate the human fruit immediately expanding the possibilities in the mind of the audience. Now here still within the second saga we are introduced not to a dog that ate the gun gun fruit but a gun that ate the dog dog fruit! That's absolutely bonkers! That is almost exactly opposite how most authors would approach it but It expands the possibilities within the world while also being good world building for future characters and events well also being so goofy one can't help but laugh at it.

Usopp wagomu (rubber band) was such an OP attack, Oda had to seal it and stop using since it was taking out enemies in one hit 🤣. Usopp has several such attacks. U will see his most powerful attack which is known as "Usopp Spell" in future which not only damages the enemy, but also the viewers. It is another forbidden attack of Usopp. Usopp seems weak because his most powers are too much to use for fair fights.
It's the Grand Line. Anything is possible here. Also, Mr. 4 doesn't have a Devil Fruit. He's just freakishly strong; I think he might be the only one of the Numbers below 5 that doesn't have a Devil Fruit power. I love this fight, with Usopp & Chopper working together. My theory for things eating devil fruits is, eating means making matter a part of your body, so a gun eating a fruit would be like if the fruit was smelted into the metal somehow.
Imagine if usopp put a devil fruit in his sling shot later? if people can put devil fruits in things in this world. Then that means the straw hats could potentially get some devil fruit upgrades? Food for thought. Also, I want the weaklings in the group to get a upgrade so they not so weak anymore. I feel only way to do that is devil fruits. Love your one piece journey, by the way.

I've never taken 'objects eating a devil fruit' literally despite how it's described by laymen in the world of OP. It's best to think of it done scientifically, applying the fruit's properties to an inanimate object technologically rather than "gun ate fruit."
FYI "fourth batter" is generally the one on the team with the highest batting average or most homeruns. The strategy around this is to have the first 3 get on base, and then let your slugger 4th batter hit a homerun and bring them all in
