The overall figure of men in social work has fallen over the course of several decades down to between 14%-18%. It is arguably the most ridiculously (and dare I say embarrassingly) non-diverse and socially unrepresentative at the most fundamental level, of all major professions. Given the inherently self-reflective nature of social work, it is quite extraordinary that this issue has not been addressed with greater import.
