I’m proudly introverted but can be an ambivert in certain cases, if I’m in the mood lol. Ultimately I NEED a lot of alone time to refuel because I’m super empathic, but I do recognize that social connection helps my mental health a lot.
Just wanted to say, I started following you in 2019 while at the community College deciding what career to pursue. I just completed my MSW in Dec 2022 and knowing that I wanted to pursue macro, I aligned myself accordingly. During my mast semester of grad school I secured a DEI position with a fortune 500 Corp. Thank you so much.
I think I’m an introvert, but my job (community outreach) and internship (school social work) force me to break out of that at times. Ssw is draining 😅
Thank you for this video! I grew up as an introvert & felt more drained after being around others (I could not wait to spend time on my own), but after being quarantined for 2 years, I have become more of an extrovert & crave interactions with my fellow human beings 😊
I think it comes down to a balance in your situation based on your comment. It sounds like you were just over stimulated in extended social interactions. The fact that you crave interaction after the pandemic shows more so that you are an extrovert with overstimulation which can happen from having neurodivergent disorders, mental health disorders, as well as spending your time in emotionally taxing situations. The key is to find hobbies you love for you outside of those times and to have more self care and listen to your body, mind, and soul.
Nice. I would say that as a child until my early mid 30s. I’d say that I was 100% introvert, but for some reason when I started working on myself and healing from my childhood trauma and loving myself. I’m more wanting to socialize more and collaborate with people more. Not on the regular basis, because I still do enjoy my alone time, but I do desire to connect a bit more now😅.
This is a great topic! I also feel like an ambivert. I worked in a research lab last summer and it was a bit too lonely and isolating for me. Something I was told recently was that if I know I need more interaction in my internship (I am doing a lot of desk/computer work now) to find ways to do that outside of the field (volunteering, activities, etc.)
Hi Vi, I’m glad you are well! Yes as a fellow ambivert, I think my feelings would be the same. And good advice! I think that would work for a short term internship. Longer term though, it’s probably best to have a role that works better for your personality.
I’m an introvert working in community outreach right now and just the idea of speaking to a group of people makes me anxious 😥. I speak to people one on one and get flushed if it’s a group. I felt relief imagining myself in the extroverted roles. Thank you for the ideas of what direction to go towards for my next position! Also undecided whether to get an MSW or MPH
I feel like I’m all of them currently. I was an extrovert to force myself to socialize, but if I find someone more extroverted than me, I take a step back into my introverted bubble. I believe the older I become, the more in tune with introversion I am ♥️
@@MindyourSociety right! I’m finishing my 1st yr. of ssw grad school and finding it hard to determine what field of social work or the work, would truly be best for me. How did you figure it out?
@@travelwla1282 Honestly, a lot of research, interviewing those that had jobs I thought was interesting, and trial and error. Also, make sure to think outside the box and don't limit yourself to jobs that are only for social workers. Our skills are very transferable across different fields.
I had an interview at school as an Achievement and a Behavioral Support Specialist. And I applied to be a community center director. I am an introvert. But I think I am becoming an extrovert after my mom died. Now that I live alone because of it I don't want to spend time alone all the time .
I am proudly introverted ,am so proud I came across your niche.Previosly, have hard experience working as a community based social worker, working with persons with disabilities,I wish to know how i can go to another level perhaps working as a social worker in another country because currently am in Kenya with no social work job.
Hey Gabby. I was an extrovert when I was young and then I am now an introvert as I am getting older. I did a psychology degree and im planning on doing a masters in social work but I am now npt sure whether its right for me because I am very empathetic but I easily get drained by large group of people. I also prefer working with children as compared to adults
Thank you so much for this video! I'm interested in social work but I was reluctant because being around too many people drains me. I was thinking, maybe i should change myself to be more extrovert but after seeing your video, it gives me a rough idea of which part of social work I want to contribute. Thank you! 🥰
Hello Gabby Taylor, good evening! How are you doing tonight?:This is the first time I post in any video of yours. This I found it two days ago and I liked it much. Great topic and quality in audio. Congratulations for your work made and uploaded on UA-cam. Greetings from Sonora, México 🇲🇽..m👍
Hi there! Thanks for your videos they are super helpful. What would the position be called for the first one you mentioned for introverts? I am considering getting my msw but I’m nervous about it. I love research and gathering data / stats. I’m between getting my msw and mph but I like sociology and social work so that’s why I’m leaning towards msw! Thanks 😊
I’m capable of getting energy from being social and alone time, and I’m also equally able to be burnt out of both. I guess that means I must be an ambivert lol
Hi Gabby, I love how you give out goods informations nd advises, I have been following your channel. Thank you for all you do dear. Please I want to ask I’m about going for MSW and I want to know if taking a course based or thesis based which is better And clinical or non clinical aspect which is preferable for a young guy like me
It's really happy for me to try internship at those foster care house,I mean the kids are really nice and I would love to help them for another time,I mean who doesn't want a sympathizer tho 😊😊:-)?

Yes me too. We are all social creatures at the core.

That’s so interesting! I do find when I’m with someone very introverted I have to step up and be more extroverted, and vice versa.

Would a job as a Child protection officer be a good fit for an introvert?
