The plastic tray you showed at 1:50 is the reason why I'm strongly considering this over the more expensive ones, I'm very lazy when it comes to cleaning these robots so this design is very helpful, I saw how the others work and they require more cleaning apparently.
I know right. This tray makes things soo much easier to clean and you barely ever have to do it too. I only clean the tray maybe once every 2 months since it also gets cleaned while the mops get cleaned, washed and then dried.
That's awesome, I currently own the S7, very happy with it (no carpets, no pets, no children and I always remove obstacles before it starts) so I reckon I have no reason to look at the top-tier products, this one sounds just about right, cheers :)
I think it is important to mention that S7 has better object detection system compared to Q Revo, since Q Revo doesnt have a proper camera in front of the robot so it has a bit worse object detection, but if its no problem for you then thats great@@faber80mt
really appreciate you showing how the cleaning section in the dock gets dirty and can be removed. That looks pretty simple - the S7 has a complex mechanism which seems more complex if you have to clean it
For me one of the biggest drawback which noone talks about is the mop drying noise! You can hear the dock for whole 2-4 hours after cleaning, because its drying. It maybe annoying for you, if its in the bedroom/near couch with TV etc. so take that in mind before purchase.
That is insane. I knew about this feature and had to put my ear up close because I wasn't sure if it was actually drying the mops, it was, it was just too quite to hear from anything further than 2 feet away. May just be an issue with your dock
It supposedly costs around 150 -200$ a year to maintain one of these things. Do you agree with these numbers below or are they exaggerated? Thanks! Estimating the annual cost of consumables for the Roborock Q Revo can vary based on usage, but here's a rough breakdown: 1. **Dust Bags**: Typically, a pack of 12 costs around $30-$40. If you replace one every month, that's about $30-$40 per year. 2. **Mop Cloths**: A set of 4 might cost around $20-$30. Assuming you replace them twice a year, that's about $40-$60 annually. 3. **Water Filters**: These are relatively inexpensive, around $10-$15 for a pack of 4. Replacing them every 3 months would cost about $20-$30 per year. 4. **Brushes**: The main brush and side brushes together might cost around $20-$30 per set. Replacing them twice a year would be about $40-$60 annually. 5. **HEPA Filters**: A pack of 2 might cost around $20-$30. Replacing them every 6 months would be about $20-$30 per year. So, the total estimated cost for consumables after a year would be approximately **$150-$220**. This is a rough estimate and actual costs can vary based on specific brands and where you purchase them.
This is a detailed and impressive analysis, and everything laid out here is indeed accurate. However, maintenance needs can vary depending on how frequently you use the vacuum and your approach to upkeep. For instance, if you only vacuum once a week, many of the suggested purchases won't be necessary as often. Additionally, there are cost-effective alternatives available for most items. For example, mop replacements can often be washed by hand or in a machine, reducing the need for frequent replacements. Dust bags, too, can last much longer depending on usage. I’ve personally been able to keep a dust bag for several months, and there are affordable alternatives on the market. HEPA filters rarely need replacing; in fact, you can carefully wash and dry them to extend their lifespan, making them as good as new. Water filters are optional and do not require frequent replacement either. Lastly, vacuum brushes can easily last up to two years with regular cleaning. Simply removing hair and dirt buildup will usually suffice unless the brush is damaged, which is rare. In summary, maintenance costs aren’t as high as they might seem if you carefully assess what truly needs attention. Many of these items are optional, and there are ways to extend their usability. There’s really no need to worry too much about this.
