- Hyouka's first episode is a masterpiece from start to finish, but what if I told you that all of the usual "introductory" matters are handled all within the first half of the episode, and that it has some of the best direction in the series? Let's jump in with some storyboarding breakdowns, foreshadow some character develop and future arcs, but most importantly - meet three of my favorite characters in all of anime.
The second "remastered" Hyouka video (though don't get used to this, I only have two more I want to do), but unlike the last one you can still access the original at the following link: • Direction: Showing & T...

Name a more iconic duo than Replay Value and talking about Hyouka.
Me watching Replay Value
Mery and Hyouka is a close second
Mario and Green Mario
Other than that, I am not sure
Peanut butter and jelly
Replay Value and, hopefully, Steins; gate.
more than half way done on your rose-coloured dissection list. love it
even if its remastered, its always nice for a new hyouka discussion
what is remastered? the video?
@@tenpers he already made a video about the first mystery. So this one is the remastered.
I really like Hyouka, that's a great anime
I feel like hyouka was the only anime I’ve watched that made me constantly look at myself through someone other than the main character
no matter how many times you analyse the same things in hyouka, it still keeps me invested on your videos. just love your way of breaking down each detail
I really love your analysis. When i first watched Hyouka, i liked it for the mysterys and the Art style. But thanks to all your analysis i started to realise that it is way more than a good Anime. It's special in many kind of ways. Thank you for showing me the beauty and the details of this piece of Art
Symbolic from the opening moments of both the series and Chitanda and Oreki's relationship...
8:30
Before she was even aware of being locked in the room, he has already unknowingly come to her rescue.
9:00
And Oreki is paradoxical lost in Chitanda's eyes and entangled in her hair.
Song of Solomon 7:5
"Your head crowns you like Mount Carmel, and your flowing locks are like a purple robe; a king is held captive in your tresses."
I had to pause halfway through because I couldn't wait anymore to say that...YOU FREAKING GET IT DUDE!!! YOU ARE SAYING EVERYTHING I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS SHOW FOR YEARS AND I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I musta watched Hyouka nearly 50 times from beginning to end. I'm not even close to exaggerating that and you nailed everything that I love about this show! All the attention to detail! The little things that pop out that I never noticed before and only show themselves after watching it over and over and it just never got old! I would play Hyouka as I went to sleep at night. I LOVE THIS SHOW and I love this video. Thanks man. Phew okay now I can watch the rest.
You know what? I'm actually willing to rewatch a remastered version of every Hyouka analysis you've put out.
wow i got the youtube notification before the discord one what a shocker
Hyouka is a masterpiece
I can't express how excited I am to see this in my subscription box.
I freaking love this series. It somehow feels nostalgic and new. EVERYTIME there is something new that I find. Replay value I love your analysis.
This is one of the examples why you are the best anime essay ish UA-camr.
Hyouka will never be replaced in my heart as my favorite anime of all time.
The original video was a fantastic piece and analysis. I could have never imagined a better version of it, but here it is.
That supernatural effect chitanda had in the first episode/episodes? got me kinda confused at first. I couldnt tell if its supposed to be some sort of ability she has or if its just there to portray orekis feelings about the situation in a stronger light.
Nice analysis.. or nice remake of it. Either way, keep it up.
I think its a visual cue. Oreki in the second half of the first episode immediatly knows he managed to spark her curiosity when he saw her lit up eyes. So its probably to make it clear to the audience. It could be explained in a light novel by writing "she made that face" but not in an anime. You have to visualize it. So this is the way. And I really like it.
I love it when animators blend the reality of the show with their animation. Its something special to animated mediums only. These kinds of things happen in hyouka a lot.
lol the first time i watched it i thought she was a ghost :P
i think its a play on words (which happened quite a lot in this series). in japanese chitanda says 気になります (kininarimasu) meaning "im curious". the kanji 気 (ki) have the same pronounciation with 木 (ki) meaning "tree". so 木になります (kininarimasu) means "im becoming a tree".
Hyouka has become a comfort watch for me and really got me into the mystery genre. I love how this series is equally relaxing and engaging.
Hyouka has been one of my all time favorite anime for many years now, and it's always great to see it get some love
Its crazy how many times I've rewatched hyouka yet how many details i've missed
Does Hyouka have a... REPLAY VALUE?!... I'll be here all night, tip the waitress
I'm a long term fan of Hyouka. I'm very happy I found someone else who enjoys every detail of this show as much as I do.
GUYS IT HAPPENED, IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED
Explaining the novel would be great to. Love the content BTW 😊
Watch all of ur hyouka vids before & glad that u make new vids that masterpiece again ❤️
holy shit! a hyouka review in 2020! im so happy
that time of the year again when I get into the mood to rewatch the entirety of this beautiful video analysis of the best directed anime of its time
I love the deduction as always
Same
You really opened my eyes to the visual marvels of this series. The creative team really makes the most of the medium of choice. And, as any great mystery will do, they leave all the clues there for you to solve the problem at hand. This really gives the audience cause to focus on every detail on screen. So with all the beauty and detail used in the animation, the creators reward the audience by making the subject of this scrutiny as fascinating as possible. We’ll done. And this is just one of the many reasons why Hyouka is such a great anime experience.
i think this video represents why i love hyouka, you can watch a lot of times but you'll always gonna have a new experience.
Every time I watch your Hyouka content, I'm reminded of how much I love this series. Thanks for sharing yours with us.
So happy to see you back on more Hyouka videos !
Thanks for making the video🖤

Woah, I didn't expect another video from this series. Love it!
YES!! MORE HYOUKA!!! Thank you!!
I love your dissections! Great essay. Subscribed for sure :)
how is it you make me emotional every hyouka vid
I have watched Hyouka 6 times in total, and I gotta say I didn’t even notice many of the details u mentioned. I’m impressed, and your channel is a hidden gem just like the masterpiece of Kyoto Animation ❤️❤️
I really love your Hyouka analysis series. I always find something new whenever I watch it : )
Wow I justs finished this dissection series and here you are again blessing us again
your analysis is SO GOOD !!!!!
Its really exiting to see you upload a new video in this little corner of youtube. Keep up the good work. Love your videos and I never get tired of listening to the hyouka track in the background of them.
your videos are really great and i enjoy watching them keep it up man, even though you have less subs than other UA-camrs the quality of your videos are really good.
I will always watch any hyouka video you make
man i decided to rewatch hyouka after your video about the 21st episode, and I'm so glad I did because it was to see if i can notice these types of things before you can and alot of things i noticed you did as well it felt very satisfying.
You took this anime to a whole new different level, never have I ever imagined it to be this detailed! You are so underrated, dude!! ❤️❤️❤️ Loved this video, keep going!!
wow how perfect as i just finished my first watch a few days ago, great vid
I love your videos everytime
I am so glad that i just found this series. I watched Hyouka a couple of weeks ago and it simply fell in love with it. Every single detail that you mention makes me realize how amazing and well crafted this anime is. I feel this series will make me conclude and leave behind this sad feeling that we might never see how the story keeps going forward, specially when the relationship beetween Hotarou and Chitanda melted my heart, it feels so real, down to earth and well writenn, that it actually made me want to fell in love again. Even tho it is just the first episode i want to thank u for making this...it makes me really happy to hear someone so passionate about one of my favorites animes, making me realize things that i havent before. I am really hyped up to continue watching!!
I wanted to say that I had just discovered your channel by seeking an explanation of the psychology of a certain character of anime. And what a surprise, all your content is fascinating and working very well! Even if I am not a basic English speaker, I understand all of them with ease. So congratulations to you! So continue hoping that fame will follow. In my case, I will give your channel name at all my knowledge :)
You are proving your name with this video. Hyouka definitely has a replay value. More than one.
I come back to watch this vid every now and then because of how perfect it is. Can't wait for this channel to gain the audience it deserves.
Why am I watching an analysis for a show I haven't even watched?
But I might actually watch it now, it convinced me. Great vid.
Wow people are still making videos about hyouka this makes me happy
can you make a video about the possiblility of having season 2?
570 likes, 0 dislikes.
Now THIS is what I call a prefect ratio
I was here when the 3rd episode of A rose coloured dissection came out, Came back to rewatch this analytical masterpiece
Yes! EVERY time I watch Hyouka I find something I haven't notice before.
It's sad to think that the director for this series is no longer alive. But I'm glad this series exists. I guess it's time to read the Manga to continue the story.
Hyouka never dies.. never let hyouka die!
σ(≧ε≦o)
Hyouka is a masterpiece anime!
9:12 and even the hand holding scene was highlighted cuz it's a fact or something like which shows that thatbehavior is done when u trust someone completely in something or want them to do something for u....and naturally being approached by that the person in Target can't really deny it...
I watched your first analysis on Hyouka and I found things that I missed or small nuances that made me appreciate the animators. So sad what happened to them and my dream for a second season was gone.
It's like an Akira Kurosawa anime. Composition, movement, music, voiceacting and the writing.
It's all in harmony like a giant orchestra playing a giant masterpiece.
Thank you for this analysis and many more.
I just can't get enough of Hyouka.
NOBODY CAN EXPLAIN CINEMATOGRAPHY AS GOOD AS YOU!!
very well said brother..
hyouka is such a good anime
really hope there was more people watching.
can you do videos on 'the ones within' it has only ss1,13 eps. thank you
Literally my fav anime ever
Watching this video really makes me want to rewatch hyouka
my god this video series is gonna be a banger. not sure why it's unlisted tho
I only realised this after rewatching this series for the tenth time when I realised you made a mistake.
That scen where Chitanda remembers Houtarou from their shared class highlights her observational skills as well as her impressive memory, not her intelligence.
The scene where she hears the sounds below the floor highlights her enhanced senses, sight and heating and in the next episode, her sense of smell.
Perfection
it's like real life Oreki explaining hyouka
I haven't watched the anime in years and just started reading the novel because I miss Hyouka but I wanted the 'extra content'. I'm still in the first Volume and already love it again! It brings me nostalgia and new stuff, which is just awesome. I'll definitely check the anime out again as soon as I'm done with the novel.
Hey, I have decided to ask this here as the subreddit doesn't seem to be as active as this Hyouka Replay series. I wanna know (probably like everyone else lol) if there will be a 7th ln volume? I read somewhere that the author was planning for 8 in total. Also if anyone knows where to read the complete manga, that would be dope. I know that translations are almost non existent, so raw is fine too!
Btw, found your channel about a week ago after watching some random Hyouka clips and maaan, you've given me a reason to rewatch it along with your videos. You provide such a thorough look into each episode that is worth just re experiencing it again!
If I don't have to do it, I won't.
If I have to do it, make it quick
~ Houtaro Oreki
Great video man, you deserve some ice-cream
Me: I saw the entire series with only 2 brain cells...
Me(While seeing your hyouka video)...I'm big brain.
I really love how you...make me realize, realize all the things I missed out...
Indeed a great series
oh hell yeah
Wish there were more anime like hyouka.
Gee, if only u could've done my yr 12 essays for me, or if only I had watch hyouka back then.
So a comment on my 3 year old comment in episode six of this series made me remember the series so I am currently rewatching it. 🙂 And since I am, I decided to re-watch this retrospective... no, excuse me, a DISCUSSION on it. Because it IS well made. The interesting part is that, IF i remember correctly it was this YT series that brought she show to my attention in the first place! For some reason or other one of thease videos appeared in my feed and I clicked it out of curiousity, watched a few minutes and then said "I want to watch this" and tracked it down. Don't ask where okay? Fyi, I am now watching it on Crunchyroll, so it is tonally legid. Not that it wasn't back then... ehem. Anyway. Glad to be back once again! 😀
Oh yes, I had a point for sommenting apart from re-introducing myself. I don't think I made it last time but... Hotarou is blind, I am sure of it. How else can he say NO to that face? 😛
I guess I'll have an excuse to rewatch it after watching the final EP...
This is most finest hyouka
I loved hyouka
Dear, replay value I have seen a lot of ur vids, I relate a lot to this anime and has changed my perspectives on life,I have rewatched hyouka so many times, please tell me ur opinion if we will ever get a s2 ,to anyone reading this comment, tell me ur thoughts if we will get a s2,if anyone want's to talk I am free all day
I'm just wondering if you will be having a review for the novel of this series?
I'm about to finish Hyouka's last episode and OVA by the end of today, and I'm hoping to listen to these before I sleep. Is it wise to just "listen in" and not look at the UA-cam video at all? Or should I look at the video too?
I JUST REALISED SOMETHING.......
5:58 all key holders are black except the "classics club" 's one. ig it signifies his step to a roe coloured life when he joined the club.
The series is the best to watch when you wanna sleep.
Hyouka is the best beginning anime
Replay Value, can you analyse nichijou? In my opinion, nichijou is one of the best KyoAni animes.
Still hoping for season 2
If I ever see Shinji Aoba in irl, he better be afraid.
Season 2!!!!!!
Only a genius can observe such things
Hyouka is so beautiful
