Loved it too! Genius! The ballroom scene showing America at it's innocence and Britain well, more mature is the word i think lol. The transition to British rock sounded bad ass too!
Sadly on the album for the movie, its just Evan Rachel Wood singing the whole time and you don't get the switch between ballroom and grungy brit rock. Its just the ballroom version for the whole track. So you have to actually watch this scene to hear thia version
This was based on The Cave in Hamburg where the Beatles got their start and were discovered. Pete Best was the drummer and they were ultimately deported because George was under the age limit for foreign workers. They fashioned themselves after the leather jacketed American rockers such as depicted by Marlon Brando and James Dean, but their new manager insisted on a clean cut All American prep look for the Ed Sullivan show. And I remember THAT day- Ladies and Gentlemen--The Beatles!!
I love this. The same song in different genres, Rachel in preppy American suburbia completely in love with her high school sweetheart , Dude in British punkish scene slightly disinterested with his girlfriend, but while not making him be a bad person. Great all around.
I love the contrast here. Molly looks like she could eat Jude alive, while Lucy looks so bland. Lucy's music is the tail end of the 50's sound while Cavern Club is alive and raw.
I love how they show the Beatles’ early bad boy days at The Cave in Hamburg and the clean cut transformation that made it to America. Pete Best was the drummer in those days, and they were deported, not for drugs, but because George was underage for a foreign worker.
And arson. They tried to burn down the club after they got fired The cops claimed. But the truth was they set fire to condoms as makeshift candles while getting there stuff out of the back room after getting fired. George got deported first because he was underage
I wonder if you see a parallel like me. A contrast of class struggle. In America we are a privileged nation. In England everyone has to work hard except for those of royal blood. I know I often sound soft spoken. I don't want to outright wave the flag. But I have fun being someone who lives in America. Opportunity galore. I can see why roger waters hates Americans. We say thoughtless things at times. No one likes us richers stepping on people's toes in the world. America is so fun! I have had a wonderful life due to our way of living. I really feel sorry for England. One man told me they are so fuddy duddy conservative over there.
Jim i think nowadays, with issues like healthcare and housing, people are more priviliged in the UK, or Europe generally, than in the USA, especially if they are not white!
That transition from ballroom to British rock band scene and rock sound!.. I love it.

@@jesseherrera6096 Exactly. Shows you, that in the 60' rock music in USA was, well, it didn't exist, before the Brits invaded States
I have watched that transition 50 times and still gives me a thrill
It looked just like The Cavern, were The Beatles would perform in the early days.
Sadly on the album for the movie, its just Evan Rachel Wood singing the whole time and you don't get the switch between ballroom and grungy brit rock. Its just the ballroom version for the whole track. So you have to actually watch this scene to hear thia version
I just want a full version like the grungier one in the English club that Jude was in
I agree! It's pretty bad ass!
the grungier one in England is the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool where the Beatles played in the early days
@@giuseppecochi8134 duh, we want a version of the song though, not a history lesson. Booooo, you!
I agree, for some reason I like the song with a stronger snare and guitar distortion. Im still trying to find a hard rock version of Hold Me Tight.
