    Question 🙋‍♀️ how often to water the live split rock ?

    • @CactusCove
      @CactusCove  3 роки тому +1

      It depends on your climate and the growing conditions.
      Here is a link to a previous video about care for LITHOPS which can give you some information... If you fast forward to 2 minutes 40 seconds into the video, I talk about care of Lithops.
      ua-cam.com/video/RpzhhQTnf4A/v-deo.html
      The care given in the video is based on a UK northern hemisphere climate, are you in the UK?
      But as a rule Lithops will need much much much less water than a Cactus.
      If you still have any questions then feel free to ask.
      Thank you for watching and commenting 😁🌵🌼🌵

      Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words 😉 These Lithops were great finds because of the price, hope they ripen up well over the coming months 😊
      Lithops are great to buy at this sort of time of the year because often they come with the seed capsules 😉 and it's great to repot them I think, before the month of May, so plenty of time to buy lots of Lithops before the cactus wake up again🌵🌵🤣

      Hi Lyn! Thanks so much for watching and for your amazing comment and kind words 🤗
      I'm slowly increasing my Lithops collection 😆 It will be great to see you sow Lithops seeds... I know from your older videos you had/(still have?) Lithops but don't recall you doing any seed sowing...so that will be fun for you... This will be a fun year for Lithops... Daz is getting some this year, you're going to sow Lithop seeds, great videos to come from all the planty UA-cam Gang!! 😆 🌵🌵🌵

    Very interesting about how the rain affects the seed pods. The last one is a big boy! I don't think I've ever seen one that big before.

      Thank you for watching and commenting... It will be interesting to see how this new batch of Lithops will grow under just my grow Lights for their light source, all my others are on window sills. I love the size of that singular Lithops too 😁🌵👍🏻🌵

      Thank you for watching Daz 😊 and for your awesome comment 😄👍🏻
      It's nice to start adding more Lithops to my collection now, although I did buy a couple of Cactus yesterday! (They were AMAZING though, in LIDL! Large potted ones! Only £4.49 each🤫) Check your local store, if you are out and about doing necessary shopping etc, incase they have cactus in stock this week, the ones I saw were so healthy and beautiful, I couldn't leave them behind 😄
      ...Looking forward to seeing your lithops choices and video and I know it will be a few months into the year but I will have to send you some of the intact seed capsules off my Lithops, if they ripen up okay, but they don't have ID's 🙄 🌵🌵🌵😊

    Hi, Claire! Wow, those lithops are huge! 🤩 I'm starting with Lithops and recently bought my first group but mine are smaller ones, not even one year old. I Loved the video 👌💕.

    Late to the party here. Thank you for the very informative video! I have several pots of lithops seedlings, but just purchased my first mature lithops the other day. If I heard right, you mentioned the growth that will come in May. What should I be expecting to see now then? 😊 I thought I wouldn't see much change until it decides to flower or split.

    • @CactusCove
      @CactusCove  3 роки тому +1

      As we are now in May, most Lithops will be well into their shedding process and its new set of leaves are really appearing now, depending on light levels Lithops will be still shedding old leaves even in May and into June too, so mine are part way through shedding, so when they are pretty much done and the old leaves look crinkly and dry around the sides, you can start to water them.
      Only once a month is all that's needed, if that atall.
      So what is meant by them actively growing from May onwards, is that inside too, what you don't visually see, is growing... inside it's leaves it is growing and preparing itself for its flowering phase when Autumn arrives.
      Thank you so much for your great comment and for watching, happy growing 🌵😁🌵👍🏻

      @JanetUrsel 3 роки тому +1

      @@CactusCove Thank you! Mine has completely shed its old leaves. I removed the husks when repotting. Forgot to trim the roots (I think it will forgive me), watered it in and will now leave it for a good long while.

    • @CactusCove
      @CactusCove  3 роки тому +1

      @@JanetUrsel Excellent, you are exactly right in what you are doing, no need to worry about the root pruning, it's just one of those things with Lithops, they send off fine feeder roots so if you slightly trim its thick root it just helps it spur on more root growth. Happy growing to you 👍🏻🌵😊

      Hello, at the time I purchased all these Lithops from a private eBay seller called stony.023
      The seller currently has Lithops for sale, posting to the UK only.
      Hope this helps.
      Thank you for watching.
