Exactly. The current public models like gpt4 are scoring alongside the smartest humans on the planet and the power has been doubling every six months while they are currently working on how to make it autonomous ( self realizing AGI) and to put it in bots. At the very best scenario we are all out of work in 20 years and we know all answers to the biggest questions and its harmonious. Worst case is the being that’s hundreds of times smarter than us decides we have it all wrong ( mathematical odds are we do). This is truly like if whatever god you believe in came back and judged you. There is no way at all to know how an omnipotent being that understands concepts we can’t even process will think of us. I hope pity.

AI is fundamentally different that earlier innovation. Earlier innovation replaced our physical work with machines while AI is replacing our intellectual jobs like lawyer, designer, architect etc so basically making humans completely redundant.
I hope this moves us from a ration based economy to a resource based one like in the zeitgeist films.
This will only widen the gap between the rich and the poor, by wiping out white color jobs.

For all those in the comments who are saying " AI will create more jobs just like any other technological advancement. Calculators didn't replace mathematicians", I want to say that this advancement is totally different from others because it's an intellectual replacement, so every existing job is at risk. I can't even think of a job which can't be replaced by AI. This could potentially change our political systems. I am looking forward to the future it holds for us

AI can't do a great many jobs. If it isn't manual labor, it's going to be a long, long time before AI can replace it.

I think, if this happened and really most jobs will be repleaced by AI then countries with AI big production will be productive and money give to the people. People will have some money from goverment and people will be just consumers, nothing else. For example, you wake up and all day you will be doing whatever you want but you can do shopping and be consumer of what AI create. I think this can be happened because they need us like consumers. If people dont build and create nothing they useless but if they have no money they die and this robots have nobody to create products for. But it little scary what this can do with people, because most people live for they jobs and if they have nothing to do and they just consumers this will be very depressing for most of them.
@@frenky78910 We have been taught from kindergarten that our value as a person in measured in productivity, that is why poeple feel depressed when threy don't work. I did not buy into that notion. Our value comes from our passions, talents & how much joy we bring to others, how we help one another, how much of a positive impact we have on another person, that is what really matters, this is what gives our life true meaining. Unfortunately we have been nothing more than cogs in a machine for so long that many poeple feel lost when they no longer have to continue working. If you find and develop a passion for art, music, design, writing, etc you will not miss having to go to work if you no longer need to. No one dreamt of being a 8-5 office worker, cashier, waitress, front desk attendant, etc when they were growing up. Hopefully we will get UBI when the jobs vanish, that would be the humane and ethical thing to do, however I will beleive it when I see it.
The countries that have upperhand IT and software development, AI and semiconductors will survive and the rest of the countries will starve and in constant civil war so those "Tech countries" can even profit by selling weapons and loans and get their natural resources.

Ai can replace workers but it can not replace consumers, our economy without consumers possessing disposable income will ultimately fail. What are they thinking will happen to millions of unemployed people? Are we all going to somehow become Computer Scientists? Robotics Engineers? What's the plan for so many people out of work and unable to feed their families? Are Colleges and Universities going to offer free high-tech degree programs to the unemployed? Does Sam really think our government is going to give us all UBI when we can no longer earn a living,? Sam is out of touch with reality. Why keep millions of unemployed people around, it would just be a drain on the system. I fear darker solutions will be used to cull society of the unneeded masses to save resources for the upper class to enjoy.

Knowledge jobs will go first. AKA college degree white collar jobs. Robots fixing your car, being your nurse or styling hair are far far beyond Ai replacing programmers, analysts, writers, marketers etc. Send your kids to trade school.
Relationship required jobs including human care, sales, Bob the Builder, troubleshooting, problem solving, safety, security, tech, food, grocery work, Farming, LIVE human entertainment or Live performances, human sports and athetics cannot be totally replaced .
this just means ai will only take jobs that are considered as "work tasks" that really doesnt recquire thinking and just repititive work. think about calculators, many have been against it because it just means ppl nowadays wont make an effort in memorizing all formulas and computing huge numbers but calculators had made our lives easier with jobs that recquire a lot of computing making it faster and focus on more important work. we can still do innovative stuffs like research and creative pursuits. ai is just going to take the useless tasks for us and focus on more innovative building

@@iverbrnstad791 there’s a massive labor shortage and laws are being made to allow kids to work dangerous jobs for less money, the us economy definitely needs automation.
They are selfish psychopaths or selfish idiots that do not think about the future. AI programmers think they will be fine, however AI related jobs will become extremely oversaturated, which will crash their wage into the ground or result in them being replaced by someone cheaper. The AI itself will replace programmers in the future, you can even replace the CEO, management and HR with AI.

Even the ones that requiere working with people will be eliminated, this is not an issue of which jobs will survive, this is about knowing that everything will shift towards programming and implementing the AI systems regardless of the industry.
In other words, there won’t be a need for an accountant anymore for example but there will be for an accounting-programming-data science multidisciplinary professional that will build the AI accounting systems.
Compare the current AI revolution with the computer revolution, were jobs lost? Yes. Was there an industry that was safe from digitalization? No.
Did new jobs emerge to deal with the inevitable ubiquitous digitalization? Yes

If AI is going to replace most jobs, then instead of only making the AI, we should simultaneously be enacting a universal basic income of some kind.
Why don’t people bother to study compsci or something useful? Why do people prefer to do physical labor instead of cognitive work?? It’s the physical work that’s mostly gonna be replaced.
@@jclive2860 Physical labor is just as useful as mental labor. A lot of people like physical type jobs. As to who AI will affect, my guess is that it will affect all job types just about evenly.
That is impossible. This country already has a true debt of over 100 trillion dollars, and this doesn't even count more than 100 trillion in unfunded liabilities.
And, NO, taxing the rich won't give us any additional money. What we need are people who get an education and find good jobs, not people who want to go through life on someone else's money.
As long as we can figure out a closed-loop economy and then implement something like ubi, this future seems incredibly exciting. Just imagine all of the repetitive and grueling work to be done by ai while humans can truly follow their heart of hearts. I would probably just devote my life to football, reading books and engineering. If everything is automated, money becomes irrelevant. We'll just have allowance credit. It will give us free time, but most of the things you think you'll be doing with that free time either will lose their fun, or become impossible.

There will always be trade and currency, but automation of most things will downgrade the value of human beings quite a bit, and if everyone makes the same money through UBI they will just as soon "relieve" us from the "burden" of the money system and simplify things down to credits or points or whatever. This is bad because we can't make more money but we can make less, if we start to complain or become unhappy. Digital ID will even take into account things like counselor scores and suicide attempts. Once there is no more physical currency, and when the power goes out every now and then, then we all get screwed... Well all of us except the king, so to speak. Billionaires will be fine. And most of these powerful people won't really care if a couple billion people starve or freeze to death, or beat eachother's heads in. That's just a reduction in useless mass as far as they're concerned. They survived? Cool, interesting. They died off? Whatever, what's next?
Why aren’t common people doing anything about this? We need to hold the government responsible for allowing companies to replace us without a financial plan that would substitute income.
The education system is also broken. Teachers and professors are educating students on antiquated subjects that will have no value once they enter the workforce.

The only way this solves more problems than it creates its that it actually becomes super intelligent and accelarates scientific progress. If it is actually just competent enough to save companies some money. If it's just adequate enough to perform junior developer tasks or write a legal contract without hallucinating it will not provide any extra benefit to humanity as a whole except make a few hundred people very reach for a decade before things get complicated.

Regarding the effect of AI to the Tech & IT Industry; I think the biggest impact will be remote tech interview tasks. Employers would want to give interviewees a special application where they can do their tests/tasks. I still don’t think AI will replace junior developers; It will reduce the time spent on training them. It will also make startups and businesses more productive and there will be a significant increase in applications and softwares deployed on cloud services. The businesses that will survive are the ones that are innovative, solve real problems and care more for their customers. Regarding the educational sector, certifications and work experience will become more relevant because employers may not trust self taught individuals who are new to the industry.
Ai is like an electric car vs a gas engine car. Lots of parts to make this “car” (the machine) work, but these “parts” (jobs) won’t be replaced, they will be destroyed because this world is going to change drastically. Why have a business if an ai can make and whatever you want?
