Great demonstration, I made very similar vault. One tip, make sure the holes allow for space of the screw on coupler inside the box. I drilled to close to outer edges so couldn’t lock down with coupler. Ended up using corner brackets on outer part.

I did it. Works pretty well havent had any problems. Only thing is that the pipe fittings didnt get that snug with the field box and the box is droopy. Thankfully hasnt affected the rods at all. Thinking about securing it with flex seal or something alike.

Excellent idea Scott, only really works for fly rods/reels though, I'm a float/spinning fisherman myself and we don't have the luxury of the reel seat being at the foot of the rod :(. Although I suppose that it'd be an easy fix to mount a box that has no hinge for the lid and just a couple of those pop latches with an extended length of pipe which slides to accomodate the longer rod handle of spinners and float rods.

I have been looking over several videos and this one seems the best for what I want, now I only hope that I can find all the components out here in Japan (ammo case might be tough, but I think I can find something similar).
