Fab advice.The dress looks lovely on you,the print placement has worked out perfectly.I think it would also look great with a bright coloured wide belt.The beauty of a black and white print is a coloured belt,shoes and,possibly, cardigan will give it a different look.

That dress is so pretty I really like the length, in regards to the basic block you were talking about the Gertie night and day dress is really good for this and I have used my draft of that pattern to alter it for many different bodices and it works perfectly.
I have a border print that is cat’s on chimneys and it’s running along the selvage. It’s spooky and beautiful and I have been reluctant to cut any thing out. I went back to the shop and got another 3yard piece I have 6 yards and I got other fabric to coordinate with it because I’m obsessed. I’m grateful for the cross grain example regarding pattern hacks and the like.
