Mr. Jimmy Atkin, sad to hear that you lost your wife so early. I'm so glad that God has given you immense strength, to be one of the best Apologetics in the world. Praise the Lord! Here in Sri Lanka, our priests, for some reason, aren't capable of teaching us about Catholism. Thanks to you and others, I have learnt so much. Thank you, and may God continue to bless you and your ministry.
Regarding John 20 and the ongoing forgiveness of sins after the Apostles through bishops and priests, I would point to the gift of God/Spirit that Paul says comes with the laying on of hands (2 Tim 1:6, cf Acts 8:17), just as Jesus gave the Apostles the Spirit and power to forgive sins.
Regarding the question in John about the disciples goven the power to forgive sins and the protestant saying that that command ended when the apostles died, I would add also in Matthew, where Jesus tells Peter what you find on earth is bound in heaven and what you loose on earth is loosed in heaven - if the apostles decided to hand down the forgiveness of sins to their annointed successors- to that’s all one needs to know to combat this as well

6:07 From my middle eastern friend recently, the eyes are considered an especially valuable part of the body to the extent that they reference their eyes for promises.
Epigenetics as far as I know has only been observed to follow this Lamarkian model in mammals, that's why it's such a relatively common discovery. The bulk of genetics studies was done on non-mammals.
Thank you, Jimmy Akin! I am also a widower, 25:07 and I found that some people even avoided me because they just didn't know what to say. STREEEEETCH those giraffe 🦒 necks! That made me LOL!
I'm glad for the portion regarding the passage where Jesus breathed on the disciples and gave them authority to forgive sins. Also am glad that the other day an uploaded replay of CA included the passage about Jesus giving the keys to Peter and giving him the authority to bind and loose. For some reason I keep conflating those passages, probably because it's stored in my memory schemata together as "textual biblical evidence for the Magisterium." Unfortunately, when I comment on Protestant objections and conflate the passages, that's not helpful. I'm hoping to be able to recall both of those passages correctly ASAP.
My theory about the 'thorn' was having to the serve as apostle to the gentiles. He gives a couple of hints that he didn't like the job but out of obedience did it anyway. And I believe he knew what we call the Old Testament as well as anyone. My thinking is the likely answer is found in Joshua 23:13 and Numbers 33:55.
With regard to the sacrament of confession i understand the logic but you are assuming that John 20 is actually instituting a sacrament of confession. Jesus commissions his disciples (the individuals who are known as apostles, kind of a bizarre distinction jimmy draws as if the fact john doesnt call them that means Jesus comission wasnt apostolic) to receive the Spirit and tells them if they forgive a sin it will be forgiven, if they withold forgiveness it will not. However the passage does not say that the church must perform this for people to be forgiven, indeed we have dozens of examples where the disciples did not resort to declaring peoples sins forgiven and yet declare the believers to be regenerate and faithful. This just seems to be a huge reach, it sounds like trying to read an elaborate church tradition back into a text that is at best ambiguous
The Sacrifice was finished. When we Mortally sun after our baptism, when we confess and are absolved, we are now pure enough to offer up to God the Father, His Son, who is the Lamb of God. To Eat and Drink of His Flesh and blood. Think about it, God came from Heaven outside spacetime to earth within SpaceTime and went back outside spacetime with His 3dimensional body that suffered. So, the Priest has Authority to transmutate the bread in wine into Jesus’ flesh and blood. The one sacrifice in spacetime is offered up to heaven which is outside spacetime. Sorry if that was confusing 😂, but Time as we perceive it is nothing like how it is. Meaning it is hard to understand, but that doesn’t mean it’s not what God has revealed.
James 5:16 "Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects." Christ's mission is finished, the power to forgive sins has been given to the Apostles & their spiritual descendants. While Jesus' mission is finished on Earth are we allowing him to finish his work in us?
Christ's time and mission dwelling in human form and showing and converting and the beginning of shifting of all our sins onto his golden divine being for all eternity was finished. The whole of the works is a living and forever long triumph of god.
I have a note in my phone that says, "Remember to ask Jimmy Akin about the Gospel to the Hebrews someday."
I guess I can delete that! 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️

Why don't they teach you? Are they inadequate? 🤔🧐
I love that Jimmy is a Fairly Oddparents fan!!
Can't help but think of the footnote in Amoris Laetitiae with that Jimmy Buffett song lyric....

This was the starting point for my conversation from Protestantism to Catholicism

Good topic
Is it wrong that I fast forward during the commercial breaks 🤔
It’s human. 😁
Wow. The Father, The Son, and The Mother?!?
Can AI forgive sins?

You just explained breeding but you can call it evolution if you want to
What is evolution?
Why does Jesus need to continue to intercede for us after "It is Finished." on the cross? Ref Rom 8:34
What's finished?
@@MeanBeanComedyThe sacrifice of the Divine Lamb.
