I’m glad you found a system that works for you! Don’t feel bad and your content is fine as it is, if that helps at all 😅 I think the social hype really makes it all a bit of a frenzy - referring to hobonichi. I like the term FOMOnichi 😂 because honestly we do it to ourselves! Of course their job is to market and sell their product and they do it every year. It’s nothing new! But as a community we definitely drive trends and social media adds to the frenzy. You are right that nothing is a life or death situation - it’s not a MUST. The language we tend to use perhaps is just a very dramatic use of words. Ultimately, each person has to make their own decisions and set their own limits and not blame others for personal actions. I simply didn’t like the negativity that came out of a launch and community that is supposed to be a happy stationery place! Like you said, it’s a space to wind down and be nerdy about journaling and such… things sell out and prices change - blah blah - you make your own decisions and that is that! I would like to just keep this a happy place for stationery love ❤ Thanks for sharing your thoughts! As I always say, I don’t have in real life people to chat stationery with, so I really enjoy socials for this topic!
Oh, I hadn't heard that term - FOMOnichi - that's appropriate 👍🏼 I very rarely decide that something is more important than a good night's sleep - and a planner launch is definitely not a good reason for me to miss my beauty sleep 😅 If people would had just slept normally and done the order when they wake up in the morning I think all would be well now in our small community. I think many tubers in the planner community seem to have the same situation that they don't have anyone to talk about these things. This is such a niche hobby. I don't even know the vocabulary in Finnish, because I only talk about these things in English 😂 But the community is so important that it is extra sad, when there is something causing a storm... Thank you for commenting, as always ❤️ Without these discussions in the comments I don't think I would still be making videos. Comments are like my reward for making the video 😊
@@Katiplans Aweee yes… its nice to have a place to talk stationery. It seems the next controversy seems the pricing changes but I suppose for me its not a big deal. I’m so used to taxes, customs vat etc… the price is just the price 🤷🏻♀️

@@Katiplans No, it seems some of pricing conversions were wrong on launch. Even stilo e stile had it wrong - but then all was corrected and now people are mad about that. If you already had ordered you might have got lower pricing. But is it really an increase if they are just correcting pricing? Maybe those of us in the EU are used to taxes and VAT … so doesn’t seem shocking to me. Basically buying directly from hobonichi isn’t that much cheaper than just buying at your local retailer - at least if you compare for EU prices. Oh, okay. I went to see and I can understand the shock. As I said in the video the Weekly was 6,90 last year. Apparently I managed to see the wrong price which was 8 euros, because now it is 14,50!!! That's over double than last year! From the exact same store. That's wild and mind blowing and a bit crazy. Like what the f... I feel a bit dizzy thinking about that... Totally agree with you! I cannot fathom spending that kind of money on a planner just because of the name. Of course I feel the FOMO too but I resist when I think of the price tag.🧡
Thank you for commenting 🙏🏻 I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone with my thoughts and that there is also someone else resisting because the prices kinda don't make any sense...
Always love your videos. I broke up with Hobonichi last year. I would buy the weeks every year, use it for a week, then it would sit on the shelf just laughing at me because it made me spend my money.
Thank you for commenting 🙏🏻 I'm so happy you have found something that meets your needs 😊 I have never tried a Kinbor but I'm glad you reminded me about that option 👍🏼
There is flexibility in the planner community. You can choose whatever planner that you want to buy or use for yourself. Erin Condren, The Happy Planner and plenty of other planner companies have several planner launches throughout the year, too. You can even use a plain notebook instead of planner inserts for your ring bound planner, if you want to as well.😅 It just sounds like you went down a rabbit hole and got anxious. I hope that you have found your planner peace. 😌
Well, I think I have my planner peace as strongly as I can have it at the end of the year when it's time to get things for next year. I wish others too would find peace and not be so rigid about getting a certain planner by any means necessary - as you said, there are plenty of options out there. Thank you for commenting 😊
@@KatiplansI get your point but for some of us having planned peace is getting our hobonichi. @SouLovelyRoses I agree that everyone can and should find their planner peace wherever they want. Maybe I just use the MUST verb a bit differently. For me must is about life and death. You must have food and shelter. A (premium) calendar is in my opinion just a nice to have no matter how well it works for you. That is how I see it. Thank you for commenting 🙏🏻
Hi Kati, your video was refreshing, I’m so tried of hearing about Hobonichi too. I did try the cousin and the weeks both did not work for me for a number of reasons. I love my pocket size. I agree this year went fast enough without pushing the last few months out the door. Besides I found some moleskine notebooks cheap on Amazon and a local store in my area. They should take care of me for next year. ❤ thank you for sharing, stay well.
Hobonichi has excellent marketing strategies….i went down that rabbit hole in 2019 and brought all the things, then sold some to buy more and I was like WHAT AM I DOING. wasted so much money and energy on Hobonichi planners that ultimately didn’t work for me. The only exception is the weeks I have used one weeks every year to completion since 2018 and will buy another this year but absolutely not until end of December. And if I only get a plain color so be it. This is an important excellent conversation. Hobonichi is NOT a need. At the end of the day you can just write lists on paper if all the planners disappear from the earth. UA-cam is also flooded with videos of people trying to figure out how to use all the Hobonichi planners they have brought, which at that price point is not fun.
I'm glad to hear the Weeks works for you AND that you are not making it more serious than it needs to be. And I'm glad that I have missed those kind of videos 😅 I can only imagine how much money people have spend on planners they don't need and don't even end up using. Very rarely I hear anyone say openly how much they have really spend. I think that would be good. Like - was it worth to spend X amount of money or could you have spend it rather on something else... Of course, for some, money is not a problem. But I would assume for many, it is not an endless resource. And paying with a credit card and paying interest rates for months makes the order even more expensive... Thank you for commenting and taking part in this conversation 🙏🏻 I really appreciate it 😊
i always love your videos, i also have broken up with hobonichi just before july of this year for good, just fell out of love was not bringing me any joy. what i am using now is a mini malden in stone grey for my EDC.
