Did Starrk DESERVE to be the PRIMERA ESPADA? | Bleach Discussion

- Was Coyote Starrk strong enough to be the Primera Espada? Compared to some of his flashier contemporaries like Barragan and Ulquiorra, many people feel he came up short. In this video, I analyse that debate and Starrk's character and come up with an answer to whether he was a worthy first Espada.

I feel like Starrk being forgotten is to give the reader a sense of his isolation
I felt this, too. His whole gig was loneliness. I found his fight to be very memorable.
I think it’s bc starrk might be brought back as a surprise bc he’s status in the info book in unknown and grimmjaws status was also unknown before he was brought back.
Kubo is so meta playa 0.0
Or lacklustre writing
@@ultimategamer8330 I mean, Kubo was getting seriously burnt out by that point, I'm not gonna blame him for phoning it in a little
Kubo killed off so many amazing characters without utilizing them at all, meanwhile Hitsugaya gets like 4 fights every arc while some captains, including 0 squad, got literally nothing.
Cuz toshiro is easier the write cuz “he’s not at full potential yet” byakuya is strong af, his fight with zommari was completely one sided but they HAD to show off his abilities even tho senbonzakura completely wrecked him. Kenpachi is kenpachi, shunsuis bankai is too OP, soi fon legitimately has a 1 hit kill movie like how do you write that? Unohanna was just a healer at that point and we see later that mayuri has an answer for everything
Blame popularity honestly or did you think Hitsugaya got a movie because Kubo loves him so much.
If anything him getting multiple fights was to his detriment. Imagine being a captain and you get bodied nearly every fight you have.
Shawn Miller he’s still one of the strongest captains at eos he’s technically barely lost most of his fights get interrupted he beat 2 espada’s but they both got saved
He did coughing guy dirty didnt even see his bankai
@@gintokilearnedbankai5938 Don't get me wrong. I realize Hitsugaya has the potential to surpass Shunsui in terms of strength but Kubo never really fully articulated that while mostly having him job to nobody's and getting clowned by Aizen everytime they met.
He could've honestly gave him the Gerald fight but he couldn't even do that right and spent most of it hyping Kenpachi's bankai.
Coyote Starkk was definitely my favorite Espada besides Grimmjow and I don't like how underrated he is.
Bro facts I actually hated shunsui for killing him
@@danesmily bro oms it took a minute for me to start liking him again. Starrk didn't even take the fight seriously and lost hope after he realized Aizen didn't care about them.
I feel like all the espada are underated even the visords who should get way more screen time.these characters don't really have good battles
Espada 0 is underrated
Fsgdds Cdgdfv then your dumb everyone loved Ulquiorra V Ichigo plus the visored got a whole arc on how they came to be (Past Arc)
I’m still sad that Starrk of all the Espada died. I like to imagine that Starrk survived and that Shunsui periodically visits with Stark somewhere to chat, drink sake, and play a strategy board game and just chill. Eventually his power returned and Lillynette reforms so he isn’t lonely anymore.
I will support this!!
They do so while visiting Ukitake's grave, thatd be wonderful.
Valid because starrk never wanted a war anyway
He is given a position that is too demanding for him. All he wanted was a friend
Could you imagine starkk showing up in the war with the quincy
I've finished the Manga but I will forever actively believe this. Alldayerrryday
Starrk out of all the Espada should have lived and thrived.
He’s was by far the coolest to me and out of all the episodes in the arc, I have watched Starrks the most and the most back to back.
His theme music and resurrectión were by far the coolest WITHOUT trying down to his Ceros.
And he fought the future captain commander evenly until he was jumped. Without caring.
He was also the only naturally occurring Espada, incapable of having friends due to his presence alone killing them.
My favorite hollow and definitely deserving of numero uno de el Espada.
Stark was quite boring, he's like a recycled Shunsui.
@@sepg5084 Except that's your opinion.
@@xyrm5672 Was that not implied?
@@delz5863 no, they just have similar personalities in that they're laid back.
@@LuckyLefty92 Why're you responding to me??
My reasons why aizen gave him no.1 cuz he is the strongest, aizen felt starrk was just like himself. Lonely cuz of his own power is stronger thn everyone else. Aizen only jumped into the battle once starrk fell.
Starrk is basically just Hollow Aizen but instead of getting arrogant and train his power all Starrk do is try to find a person to talk to
Also because Reiatsu wise the amount he have is larger than every other Hollow even Second Release Ulquiorra tbh since Ulquiorra second release make his reiatsu more dense and powerful but the amount never change since in exchange it take a toll on his body

I like this take.
@@PeachDragon_,
My Mind = Blown
@@PeachDragon_ i never thought of it like that. I like it!
The main things to consider when it comes to Starrk:
1) he is the only character aside from Aizen to take on 4 Captains
2) during his fight with Kyoraku, he actually made Kyoraku consider using his Bankai against him (something he only used against the likes of Lile Barro, so that goes a long way to telling how much of a threat Kyoraku saw Starrk as)
3) he and Zaraki are the only 2 characters to canonically have their Zanpakutou split away and turn into living beings
4) *HE GAVE UP THE FIGHT!* Starrk basically let himself die because he saw that the other Espada were losing, lost Lilynette, and decided that death was better than living without his comrades.
stark is weak
@@Dentongmail1534 you are weak
@@Dentongmail1534 at least he dont take Ls like renji
@@Dentongmail1534 you didnt understand or are you trolling?
I agree. He just gave up. Kyoraku is the bad guy in that fight.
I always thought he gave up. He saw all his “friends” die and his aspect is loneliness and was scared that he’d have to live it with again after watching them all fall. And just said to himself being alone was worse than death! His reaction wasn’t sadness or anger at Barragan’s defeat... it was fear!
That’s pretty deep bruh 😂
According to one of the guide books, Stark can fire "infinite ceros". That means that either his Reiatsu is limitless (which would make him invincible) or his passive recovery speed is greater than the cost of a cero. And we all know how fast he can fire ceros. That is overpowered to all hell as a single cero is stated to be able to kill lieutenant class characters. And that's just a basic Menos Grande cero! Shunsui is probably one of a handful of characters who could tank a Cero and not be heavily wounded.
Also, something to mention is that Aizen didn't give up on the Espada winning until Stark died, leaving Harribel as the last Espada standing. Even after Barragon died, Aizen didn't give up.This implies that if Stark had fought seriously, he could have turned the tide of the battle without Aizen and gang having to step in.
Yes but kyoraku did cheat as he stabbed stark from behind while lurking in the shadows.
Thank you! Anyone who claims Stark isn't overpowered has no idea how power scaling in Bleach works.
You make a good point. He never showed any signs of tiring while fighting Shinshui and Ukitake even when he was unloading cero's on them
Shunsui didn't even go all out. And shunsui is no weakling. He's closer to Yamamoto 's level who was even superior to Aizen.
javo10ful There’s no such thing called cheating in a fight or war for that matter😂 There aren’t rules
Starrk is also the only naturally occurring Arrancar. This alone shows his overall power to be greater than the others, as he was the only one to evolve without the use of the magic wish rock.
Ulquiorra has broke his mask without Aizen help too but yeah still Starrk has done it alone, creating life out of it and causing every other life around to die. Very impressive.
@@ehrerik3786 Where did you get this info?
In unmasked you see his mask breaking at the end.
Hallibel is also a naturally ocurring Vasto Lordes, she was already in her current form before meeting up with Aizen
@@dwdl420 No she wasnt. In the flashback, we see her with her mask still on
Also, Kyoraku’s shikai? Not an ordinary shikai. It’s better than most captains’ bankais
can we talk!!! that shikai is sick!!
Cher cher Kyoraku’s zanpakutou in general is the most interesting of them all... both shikai and bankai. No other zanpakutou can bend reality like it, as far as I know 🤔
I like complicated abilities like that. Katen Kyokotsu, Book of the End, Kyoka Suigetsu, The Almighty, every Sternritter schrift... shit like that just shows you how good a writer Kubo can really be
Ngl animals only kinda got a giant ass rickroll coming once its finally finished the animation. I can't wait for the amount of "makes no sense" I keep hearing to finally dwindle
Would it even be able to touch Barragan though? Barragan seemed to have one of the most OP powers/releases
@@anakinc.6024 He would need to still evade respira, but he absolutely can damage Barragan. His games bypass durability due to reality bending. Everyone, including Barragan, can be subject to his shikai's rules
Starrk is like Shunsui as in they’re just chill ppl that wanna relax all day but still have no choice and do their duties. I’d think Starrk just got tired of having to fight pointless fights so he just gave up and want his and lilynette’s soul to rest in piece
Jeffrey Scott That’s how I saw it. He was in control of the fight, but once Lilinette was gone Starrk kinda quit
Basically lost his reason to live
@Tornike cirekidze Not in that setting, shunsui bankai was basically useless in that fight because he would have dragged other captains in his bankai abilities
@@SupremeEspio I think it started when barragan died and he said no one cared about that especially aizen.
And after that he became depressed and it's like he was letting Rose and love hit him. Then lilynette died and there he lost
his will to fight
Tornike cirekidze Starkk was putting the pressure on Shunsui to the point he was considering using his Bankai. If it was 1v1 I Shunsui would’ve lost imo
It is also telling that Aizen didn't actually DO anything, until Starrk fell.
That tells me that, to Aizen, the Arrancar could have still won. That with just Starrk on the field, he didn't need to do anything himself. Hallibel had already been defeated, and he cast her aside like trash once he started moving for himself.
Bruh, read that chapter again. Hallibel wasn't defeated. She escaped Hitsugaya's ice thing and didn't have a scratch on her.
I recommend you reread it too. She needed saving at all. Stark didn't need it, barragon didn't need it (was he just hiding in the smoke? Letting them think they won before breaking their hope? Idk.)
Frozen as she was she was out of the fight. She was barely hanging in after being freed. It was pathetic seeing what those two were reduced to while Stark still held his ground.
@brianpembrook9164 ehh. Barragan lost to his own powers, Stark lost to 4 captain+ opponents and Harribel fought evenly with a captain and 2 vizards after she was freed.
The main thing holding her back was her nature, which tbf applies to all Espada
Starrk does deserve his rank as primera he was a powerful adversary and is one of my favourite espadas, but I think Kubo should have given this character the proper justice he deserved. I didn't like the way he was killed off and I wished that he got more screen time.
I completely agree - a small part of me hoped he was going to miraculously be one of the Arrancar Urahara had gathered in TYBW.
True in truth he fought 4 Captains at once and two of them were vizards
powerful but not impactful, nothing happened. If only it was as good as ulquiora or noitora. why was #6 and #4 better than #1,#2, and #3 because of the emotional impact. It would have been better for them not to fight just observing would have made them look better.
WTF!!! His death was one of the best in the entire series
@@kensmilepachi3313 Worst deaths in the whole series. #1 Starkk, #2 Helle Belle, #3 Baragon, had they not died would have been better for the story. everything was perfect up until they started missing shots and taking hits and showing signs of being flawed.
Best comparison for how much reiatsu he had was how both Starrk's and Kenpachi's swords with compressed into living children. He is definitely deserving of it but it was highly disappointing that Kubo killed him off so easily.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Reiatsu destroys but also creates life--look at the Soul King & Ywah Bach, and even Yamamoto & Unohana's ability to heal/resurrect the dead. Ichigo has insane amounts of reiatsu, but Kenpachi matches if not exceeds Ichigo's (maybe even Yamamoto's?) Kenpachi's reiatsu was TOO much for him to handle, and he didn't even realize that his zanpakuto spirit had been with him the entire time. But Starrk is more experienced & self-aware, and probably a lot older than he appears.
I'd never thought about it like that. Great comparison!
@@murfeel1173 It was actually the other way around, in term of reiatsu Ichigo > Kenpachi > Yamamoto. While Yamamoto's reiatsu was terrifying, Ichigo and Kenpachi take a step further with Kenpachi's reiatsu couldn't be sensed and Ichigo's reiatsu being so abundant it even materialized and floated around in the air.
@@caesar5588definitely. The only reason Kenpachi and Stark had created small children from their powers was because they limited themselves externally. As in they were already realised but nerfed themselves.
Ichigo and Yamamato changed grew and gained more control of their powers before being able to have that much reitasu
The fact that Starrk can machine gun ceros is testament enough. Everyone throws a single cero and nukes the place. Starrk. Machine. Guns. CEROS!!!
When i saw how Stark use Cero like gatling gun and can fire it as he wants without use his hand, my mind said "wtf".
@@ismay7621 RIGHT?! Who cares about aging when you can gatling Ceros?!
@@brandonsellers1076 aging powers is still a great defense but combine it with the gatling Ceros heads will start rolling
@@seby826 true. But starks long range attacks can keep him from that aging technique. Unless he can age the ceros before they hit him, Barragan is kinda stuck. Gatling ceros plus top notch sonico and cero wolves?! Like a fighter jet with all the bombs fighting a tank.
Starrk: Hahaha, Cero goes *_BRRRRRRR_*
I think the fact that he was forgotten works really well thematically. He represented loneliness and being alone means havin nobody to remember you after your death.
and the phrase "Its lonely at the top"
@@endoesstupidstuff3566 ironically, that was what Aizen fear the most, that's why he deliberately lost his fight against ichigo, he fears of not having equals and lonely at the top
Sorry for the delay since the last video! This was supposed to come out yesterday, but I had real trouble in post. Enjoy!
Starrk is fairly cut and dry in terms of strength. Considering he can fire ceros faster than any espada can even fire a bala, that ought to tell you something about his sheer overwhelming power. One thing I wish you'd mentioned was how Starrk pushes Shunsui to the point of desperation, enough to make him use his bankai. If you'll remember, soon after Starrk releases his cero metraleta, Ukitake reflects one and says "I figured I'd jump in because it's clear you won't use your bankai," to which Shunsui replies "Actually, I was about to release it..." and Ukitake then tells him not to and that they'll fight together. A lot of people like to talk on and on about how Shunsui just seems to be playing around, but they either miss or ignore this extremely obvious point.
Stark got the power and the intelligence but has no drive and suffers from loneliness, Lillinette is the one that has the drive, and makes Starrk actually do stuff... who knows how powerful were they before they split... imagine if Aizen found them before they split and used the Hogyoku on them, cause he obviously wasnt able to since they were already Arrancars when he met those two...
Starkk was the good guy of the Espada. Starkk, Nel, and Halibel.
Grimmjow also good.
@@DestinyAbsol no bro
Grimmjow wasnt bad he didnt care about aizen he just wanted to fight strong people
Am I the only one that thinks that Ulquiorra wasn't a bad guy? He was like a middle ground between characters like Neliel and Nnoitra. Not bad, but not good either. So I'd put him here too, as Starrk also filled that role quite well.
@@QrowxClover Imo I don't personally think Ulquiorra is a full bad guy I just see em as a soldier doing they're duty
Theirs only 3 other characters to fight 2 or more captains at once in Bleach. Kenpachi, Yamamoto and of course Aizen. I think that's already pretty telling, Shinsui would have probably needed to use his bankai had it stayed 2v1.
Like you said before Stark never lost his cool the entire fight he had a calm state of mind, which is a fitting mindset for the strongest or the leader espada. The only time he panicked during the fight genuinely was when he stopped hearing Lilynette's voice. Stark didn't really hide behind having any special abilities he was just raw power, speed and intellect.
But I do feel their needed to be a moment during the fight where soul society said something like "so this is the true power of the primera espada".
Yes and No. Shunsui said he was gonna use his bankai but I think he was partly in jest there, based on the fact that he would've killed several other people with it close by. It's hard to say though, because both Shunsui and Starrk are lazy and Shunsui doesn't really get serious until the very end.
We never got to see the full potential of Stark. I've always believed the way he talked about his ideals he never showed his full power. Just like Kyoraku didn't show his full potential with his fight with Stark
Which was bullshit.
Bro even Shunsui didn't show his full shikai
And stark's full power are those wolves as said by kubo...He stand no chance to Captain Commander Shunsui Kyorku
@@vibhamandhanya4124 His bankai should have killed him not the shikai

@chewskiii why the heck do I always have to discuss with Stark tards?? He was a fcking lazy bum, who didn't even knew how to control his spiritual pressure....forced Bankai?? Kyoraku, one of the highest tier captains, have to take his Bankai against such a weak guy...he didn't put his Bankai against Robert Acutrone who was far stronger than Stark, why would he have to put Bankai against Stark....Stark is a fool always bragging that he wants to do something for Aizen but is lazy af...and a changed cero doesn't give a damn to Kyoraku....he is already fighting and winning on his suppressed Reiatsu of 20%, Kyoraku comes in Bleach top 10 strongest and Stark is nowhere even in top 20...How can people even compare them, Kyoraku is league aparts from Stark

Stark lost the will to live when his other self faded away. He was back to being truly alone, he’d realized Aizen didn’t care. I think stark himself called it shameful. If Shunsui has missed the killing blow, Stark would have killed him. That’s the crux of that power. He damaged stark more due to the risk to himself.
But his other self didnt fade away in the manga....that only happened in the anime
@@laurentiu.f8804 Lilynette was still alive in the manga?

I'm just wondering how they'll do with Gremmy now.
Great video man, you bring up a lot of good points. Starrk is so often downplayed because he didn't face a bankai. What many disregard however, is the massive boost Love and Rose, two captain class shinigami, both got from their visored masks. Yes they were both in shikai, but considering how much of a boost Ichigo gets from his mask, they were arguably around bankai level in power--maybe a little under since Ichigo's mask is a special case. Even then, the fact that there were TWO of them and Starrk thrashed them effortlessly (he literally stood in place as pointed out in the video), Starrk could've took on two bankais and held his own, likely only losing because of his resolve. It's a shame that Shunsui stole what would've been a much more satisfying conclusion to Starrk's character.
Thank you very much! Yeah that's pretty much what I was going for - people overlook the fight because there's no flashy Bankai reveal, but Starrk deals with so much more than the other two Espada.
Starrk was one of the most gentle of the espadas and was quite reluctant to kill people that's why I love him he brings fragile humanity to being supposed "hollow " without a heart
THe espada ranking is based on spirit energy, hollows died by just being at close range of starrk and exposed to his spiriutual pressure so obviously he is ranked higher than baragan
That’s a really good point.
It’s based on Aizen‘s word and his word alone.
@Ruben Colon,
Multiple Captain-class+ opponents*
@Shawthentic Exactly man, he 4v1'd captain+ people and they still werent able to hurt him without shunsui using a surprise attack

Starrk has a better design than most of the Espada, but has one of the least memorable
I totally agree - but I think the understated approach works for his character.
He never even got his volume cover...
i would say tier hallibel, coyote Stark, grim jow. top three coolest designs in that order
@@WestonEvans Kubo really messed up on that one I mean even Luppi got one.... LUPPI!!
Depends on what you meant by least memorable, because he's probably the next most beloved Espada by fans after the obvious two
I thought stark lost the fight when lilynette disappeared. I felt he lost the reason to still fight when she supposedly died/disappeared. Thats when he seemed out of it to me. I haven't seen the fight in a while but thats what i remembered or thought.
He pretty much gave up.
Well, she was half his Soul. Losing her was probably the equivalent of a fatal wound.
But for me, I always saw it as something similar to what happened to Ulquiorra when he died. Each Espada has an aspect of death they embody. Even with all Ulquiorra's talk about his organs being destroyed, it wasn't until he finally realized what a heart was, making him no longer nihilistic and "empty" that he actually died.
It's the same with Stark. After losing Lilly and taking Shunsui's attack, he realizes that he was no longer alone thanks to Aizen. He had had companions in the form of the other Espada. This understanding directly contradicted his aspect of death which was loneliness.
Maybe I'm overthinking this, but that's what I think happened.
@king emfj3201 ah, thanks for the info
Good points, good points. You definitely gave me a better understanding of this character.
I still believe Ulquiorra was the strongest Espeda though. He had destructive force and speed that wasn't matched by any other Espeda.
Coyote Stark deserves the title as the Primera Espada. His death was most definitely one of the saddest deaths in the series to me, after losing Lillinette; it seemed like he lost all will to live as Baraggan has fallen and all the others perished in Hueco Mundo. I felt his death more than any other death in the series.
It's no surprise youre growing at your rate. You know all the details of topic and even acknowledge the small ones. On top of all that you have a great flow that is enjoyable to listen to. Turned this video to have in the back while I drew, thought it was 16 min but it felt like 4 XD. Youre doing amazing work 👍
He had the most spiritual pressure of all the Espada. That's why he was number one. He was always alone because no one could get close, or they would be vaporized.
“Stark is my favorite of all the espadas” yet he put Ulqiorra in his top 10 favorite character and not Stark
He put starrk up there to not only that but he put starrk higher 😂
All great points. Adding on, Aizen’s choice cannot be understated as his intelligence is only surpassed my Urahara himself. Furthermore, the only other character to have enough riatsu to split it into another being is Kenpachi, which suggests Stark’s riatsu is on par with Kenpachi and far surpasses most of the other characters in Bleach
Better question, why didn't Mayuri revive Stark even though a bunch of Fracions were revived?
Might have something to do with their aspect of death. Each Espada died in a poetic irony of their death aspect.
Or maybe he was too powerful to risk bring back. Or perhaps it had to due with half his soul (that little girl) being destroyed during his battle.
And plus, would he have even fought if he was brought back? The only reason he fought for Aizen was because he was grateful to him.
In short, there are any number of reasons he wasn't brought back
@king emfj3201 oh i just thought she was killed by shunseis game. You the how thing of if you lose the game you die.

I just rewatched this after almost 3 years, and when you said 900 subscribers was such an awesome feeling. Love seeing your growth.
I love bleach but fights like these make it frustrating to watch sometimes. Starrk deserves to have a more memorable fight as the Primera Espada. It's hard to convince that he's the strongest without fighting at least 2 bankais from the 4 captain level shinigamis. He has so much power and potential but his abilities were understated in those battles because he had to keep his cool?
I think Ulquiorra is the strongest just because he has a 2nd resurrection, but Starrk also has Lilynette, who could've been a stronger fighter, rather than simply turning into something else. That part for sure was disappointing.
I think Starrk deserves a fight as great and as memorable as Ulquiorra's...his design definitely has the potential for it
The misfortune was that he was matched with Shunsui. Knowing what his Bankai is if he would have used it that fight would have been over in a few seconds. I think the point of the fight was to give us a better look into Shunsui’s abilities rather Starks abilities.
Ulquiorra is the strongest. Imagine Starrks Cero, but 10000x stronger, and you have a Lanza. And Ulquiorra can spam them faster too.
@@QrowxClover Im not gonna debate the power of the cero's together, as what was shown, i would agree what we saw Ulquiorras looked stronger, from the sheer explosions, but where are you getting that he can spam faster? Starrk spammed thousands if not millions of ceros in a few seconds while, Ulquiorra took a considerable start-up and throw to use one of his lances.
@@xerxessd6184 Because Starrk for whatever reason didn't spam Ceros like Ulquiorra did Lanzas. There was a longer cool down for him(although I don't doubt he could fire them faster if he wanted). He used Cero Metralleta ONCE, which is weaker than Lanza, and never used it again, while Ulquiorra used Lanza twice in rapid succession.
@@xerxessd6184 Also, every one of those Ceros were likely very weak. You can't spam strong Ceros like that for more than like 10 seconds, even with Aizen level Reiatsu. Even though Ulquiorra spammed Lanzas, he still didn't do machine gun shit like Starrk did. A regular person could probably tank a Cero Metralleta level Cero(only one of them), with minimal damage, because no one has infinite Reiatsu. Starrk could still fight after Cero Metralleta, meaning that every individual Cero would be below the weakest Cero or even Bala. He essentially spammed weak attacks. If he spammed strong attacks, Lanza would very likely be spammed faster.
Also, a nice theme for a video would be: Did Yammy deserve to be the Zero Espada?
I have the opinion that he should have had a regular resurreccion and Chad should be the one to defeat him.
That's a great one to do - I'll add it to the list!
yes he deserved to be zero since he is just raw power but no direction. Underwhelming build up, #1 Starrk, #2 Helle Belle, those fights were not very impactful like #6 Noitorra or #4 Ulquiora. The True #1 and #2 were Ulquiroa and Nelle but Nelle is a good guy so yea. Starrk never hits anything, that is a cool power that doesn't do anything. "forgotten espada" - do you forget what aspect of death he is? solitude/loneliness. this was absolutely intentional by kubo. in his death he finally fought someone as strong/stronger than he, so much so that he no longer felt the solitude he represented. exactly like ulquiorra disintegrating the moment he understood the "fullness" of having a soul (Orihime) as opposed to emptiness of the "hole"/"abyss" of being a hollow

@@asmylia9880 you see I percieve an aspect of death as something that is the strongest characteristic of the mentioned espada a character trait that represents them as well as something that is their weaknesses, nel was very gentle her aspect of death may be Kindness or Gentleness........its not really mentioned anywhere so this is my take on it you may perceive it differently though that's completely up to you.
Very good discussion and I completely agree. But I do have ti say that theee is one Espada similar to Starrk's calm and calculating, which is Halibel. Would you be willing to do does Halibel deserve to be the 3rd Espada? I feel like she gets more shade than Starrk does.
True. The reason why people think the top 3 Espada were weaker is because they forget Ulquiorra was fighting the MC of course his fight is going to look better by comparison. Not to mention Ichigo is not that impressive in battle he has no other abilities but strength. Stark, Halibel and Barrigan were fighting opponents with actually abilities that were trickier to fight
@@shawnboahene5231 I completely agree. Halibel specifically fought the one captain with the perfect ability to counter hers. They were basically throwing techniques and countering each other. But in base she was overpowering Toshiro in Bankai with ease, similar to Ulquiorra in base overpowering Ichigo in Bankai.
HB-UB yes H wins
HB-UR1 they are equal
HR1-UR1 ye H wins
HR1-UR2 they are equal
im not sure if anyone is gonna use water to be destroying organs but i can see limbs going off, sucks that one of them cant regenerate them... Oh yeah ulquiorra can. Also cero oscura and lance feats make harribel go oof
It happen quite often in anime, writers makes a strong character but didn't really gives them a plot and when there time came they just couldn't figured out how to give them a finish and end up giving them a lame finish. It's very heartbreaking to see these character to die like they were weaker or less cool then a mob character even though they were the cooler one's. Shout out for every character like this.
Watching your whole catalogue and it's unreal hearing you say 900 subs. Congrats dude.
Thanks so much :)
Watching this a year ago you were 10 away from 900 now you’re at 88.9k great work my man🤝
Thank you!
Also starrk was a vasto lorde and a arrancar without the help of Aizen and his hogyoku, all the other arrancars needed Aizen and the hogyoku to become arrancars
Stark is a wolf.
GOT the house of stark symbol is a Wolf. What a coincidence.
Stange coincidence but prob not probable
Tite kubota must've had subtle inspiration from George R.R Martin.
More likely is the word Stark is related to a wolf in some way either through mythology or etymology, or even another story that would have to be fairly famous for both a western and eastern author to have heard of it and taken inspiration from iy
So what??? Everywhere there is a wolf it means there is a link with stark?
@@ghis8482 Well, his name is also Stark. And he physically resembles Eddard Stark as he's described. (Ghis is also the name of a civilization in this book series. Hmm...)
4:52... and that explains why yachiru could be seen by everyone, became a lieutenant and disappears when kenpachi goes bankai - kenpachi’s reatsu was so strong he displays the same ‘splitting as stark, - nozorashi was a stolen blade so although she is the source of his power I do believe when kenpachi first hears his zanpakuto he does not hear yachiru. Though he is required to reunite with her to release his bankai. All clicked once I heard your analysis - just a theory on prompt 😉
Dude u really blew up on UA-cam and u definitely deserve it. I'm really glad I found ur videos. They're super informative and entertaining. I love bleach.
I liked that the Arrancar numbering is off and that their dealt with at different times, not just numerical order.
It’s cool that the primera espada is questioned between stark, Ulqiourra (segunda etapa), & Barragán . One Im not so crazy about is the yammy situation. It’s interesting and creates more discussion which can be fun.
I recently read Demon Slayer, & whole i enjoyed some parts the Upper Moons number system was played completely straight. They fought & beat upper 6, then upper 5, 4 & followed in numerical order. That was a bit of disappointment.
Im convinced that aizen put stark 1 just to piss off barragan
I can believe that😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@bullet5760 i know right? And its totally in character for aizen to do
As Barragan is definitely stronger than any other Espada
And there's no number printed on Barragan, So how can we say that he is Esapda, maybe just maybe, He is not an Espada as his power levels are just too high for one
@@vibhamandhanya4124 yooo that makes sense
@@vibhamandhanya4124 you definitely make a good point. Also, how can barragan logically be defeated outside of the way he was? He literally controls time around him and can't be touched.
Stark is actually the arrancar version of kenpachi. So insanely strong that it drowned them in lonelyness, and they tore their zanpaktous away from them to create their 2nd in command to escape the loneliness
Starrk was definitely my favourite, i loved his personality and his design. It's a shame Kubo didn't do him justice.
Brub rewatching this. I remember when he was almost at 500. That's madness. Well done mate.

@@MrTommo2304 you know what's funny is that he is so powerful despite being of natural arrancar.. most of the other arrancar are of the more powerful Variant thanks to Aizen's experiment.. But Stark Is Natural Arrancar.
@king emfj3201 there are two types of arrancar.. the one that become arrancar naturally by simply taking off their masks and Hollows That Become arrancars With Aizen's experiments With The Hokoyogo.
I can't see really see the point what you're making. Stark was simply powerful.. Imagine what happen if Aizen Got a Hold of Stark eaelier.
Soul king exactly . .
i think the novel made it clear that aizen gave him the title of second espada just to mess with him. if there is one think we know about aizens personality is that he loves to put people/authority in place.especially those who dont bow to him (Barragan/Shinji/Grimmjow/Yamamoto/Hitsugaya/Komomura etc.)
BROOOOOOOO!!!!! You definitely just earned a sub. I’ve been having this arguement with my buddy for a while now, it’s almost like people are choosing to overlook all of the details so it supports their point. Stark had a tough assignment! That’s why he looked so underwhelming.
i dont know where you came from but your videos are refreshing was getting tired of the same old structured bleach videos, keep it up bud looking forward to your future videos
Thank you! I actually reviewed every chapter of the final arc on a weekly basis back in the day!
I am a writer and I want to express my humble idea about Stark too, When a writer wants to create some super powerful character the writer must understand that "Eyes" of a human being is the main and most important thing for observation they brains comes to play a role of analyzing what eyes have monitored that meas that even if you create a weaker but more flashy character the weaker ones will be liked more, everyone loves power and humans are so greedy we want to be Omnipotent beings, but we want that with class, with something to show and be proud of it, Stark didn't have those elements, Barragan was like a lich one the two top popular undead being, (Vampires and Liches) and Ulquiorra Cifer was a character that was indeed a phenomena, his character has such depth that I cried when he died, Stark was a passive Espada, when it comes to Stark one could feel they are playing chess with a wall or themselves so that made his powers and fighting style boring.
oh wow thats a surprising upload lol
Surprising in a good way I hope? XD
@@MrTommo2304 ya it's good lol

@@WeyardWiz I'm hoping that'll all return with the anime reviews!
@@MrTommo2304 What Question comes to my mind when i think about Starrk is one i rarely EVER see discussed anywhere:
Can Arrancers possibly one day live in Peache with Shinigami and/or Humans?
I dont even know if this counts as an unpopular opinion, but i always wondered if it's possible, looking at Starrk.
As stupidly simple his name is, he's interesting, and thinking about 'what he means', so to speak, is interesting.
Coyote Starrk was the best and strongest, and in part, that’s the reason he/they had to die. Where do you go after you lose part of your soul? What do you do after you break yourself, both for your own sake (to stave off loneliness) and for others (both to protect Lillinette and for the sake of his duty to Aizen)?
He was too good for this world, literally. Too something, be that too bad, too good, too broken despite his strength. Too honorable despite being the “bad guy.” Remember he got stabbed in the back, but always followed the gentleman’s code of the battlefield himself.
If he did come back, after all those lessons, they would be lessened. The respect and frailty within strength that he represents would be diminished. He had to die so that Aizen could see. Halibel talked about sacrifice. But Starrk lived it - being the only one to willingly give his life for their cause, even though he didn’t particularly believe in it - because he said he would. Barragan only pretended to go along so he could get his revenge on Aizen. Hallibel didn’t actually die.
And, yes, he was killed by shikai. But Barragan was killed by what? Kido, and his own senescence? Not even a strike from a soul reaper. Starrk went out fighting, he just outclassed even the 4 on 1 that he was in battle with. He could have handled a lot more as well. But I think he had committed only to give regular effort to Aizen. Not heroic effort. Not so much effort that he would commit treachery himself, or even necessarily kill a bunch of people who didn’t deserve it. It was just his nature to internalize damage when there was no other place for it to land. He could control that much and stay true to himself as well as to his duty.
Stark is definitely the strongest espada, like his resurrection is the definition of boring but practical. He's bringing heavy artillery and heat seaking missles to a sword fight... on top of being physically one of the strongest, fastest and smartest of the espada.
Stark literally did everything he could for 90 percent of his fight to hold back, and give his opponent's chances to run away and he still would have won in a straight up fight. Shunsui played his cards right at exactly the right time, and with a huge dangerous gamble of an ability to have a change of beating him and he basically had to cheat at Issaori cause if he told him all the rules upfront Stark was smart enough to beat him.
I think out of context it sounds bad he got beaten by a Shikai, but in context I think Kubo set it up and pulled it off pretty well. Idk how else Stark was gonna lose. If you go back and read it, Stark is so OP only the last fights of ttybw feel that unstoppable and I think Kubo pulled off Stark being beaten way better than Lille or Gerard so I think it works pretty well all things considered.
3 months ago and look where you are now bud!! Amazing to see, great video this is the first time I've seen you too but definitely subscribing. Keep up the good work
Thank you so much!
@@MrTommo2304 no problem man I'm about to binge watch your channel today so thank you!
Thank you for this very well thought out explanation / opinion / discussion.
I agree with your findings 100%.
For me the inexplicable part of the story was possible internal monologues and better illustrations of their (Shunsui and Starkk) thought processes. I have seen in other examples of literature, stories that are very suspenseful based on the anticipation and study of your opponent. Like magic users in the Inheritance cycles that don't move a muscle but are having complex magical battle for example.
Great content.
In hindsight i would've loved to see Stark and
Lilynette vs Kenpachi and Yachiru :D
Perhaps many people doesn't realise the fact that stark has the ability to kill anyone just with his reiatsuu's presence
Anything living that comes around him dies he was very happy when Aizen asked him to join he found a bunch of people who are equal to him that's what he thought but espada members aren't friends they don't share the Same motivates and purposes
Besides that stark wasn't serious he never unleashed his full potential for many reasons suck as the lack of desire and the will to live that's the main reason why zanpaktou users got the advantage cz they always evolve unlike the espada members
What do you think happens if Stark reached his second form he'd be invincible he can easily reach the same lvl of aizen he can unleash forms of cero which is capable of elimination captain and don't forget to mention that he fought against two vizards and two captains even barragan which he represents death couldn't handle just two of them
For me Coyote stark deserves to be the Primera espada no doubt everything went wrong for him he lost lilyennte and couldn't fulfill that hole inside his heart and that's how I can tell that his ending wasn't well mad he needed some justice he just wanted to have some friends that's it no more no less he didn't seek power and authority and he had no reason to fight he simply fought because Aizen needed him
So for anyone who thinks Coyote stark is a disappoint I think you really should review bleach from the start till the end
And I think I really do that we'll see him again I believe that he is going to get resurrection after all he is unique extremely intelligent and the amount of reiatsuu's he Carrie's above any Arrancar
I was sure the wound Kyoraku gave him wasn't lethal, his wound was just pretty similar to Halibel's, which she survived from, I really thought he survived
10 more subscribers to 1k lol now you're at over 100k well played
I’ve been binging a lot of your videos recently- I cannot believe you only had 1000 subs back when you made this. The quality of analysis is just as good and although you set up is a bit different, you are still you. Thank you so much for the wonderful bleach content, and I hope your channel gets bigger and bigger!!
I wonder if Aizen didn’t leave Ulquiorra to protect Hueco Mundo and instead brought him to fight against the captains, would he be able to turn the battle around with his second form?
Definitely would have but remember, he left Ulquiora in hueco mundo not to protect it but to fight Ichigo to further evolve Ichigo
Stark is the type of guy you would love to have a drink with. When he died i literally got emotional. Also im not with you on not remembering his fight. From the 3 espada there i only remember his fight.
R.I.P Coyote Stark
"HE WAS NUMBER 1"
Starrk's story is just heartbreaking. He just didn't want to be alone anymore
I had always held out hope that Starrk just took it as a chance to dip and went back to wander Hueco Mundo. In fact, I'm still holding out that hope. I really had my fingers crossed that he'd pop up in Can't Fear Your Own World.
Starrk took on four super captains and he wasnt even trying. Yeah he the strongest.
honestly I wouldn't be surprised if aizen made baragan #2 to humiliate him further when to add to it he changed the ranking system from 1 to 10 to 0 to 9 making the former king 3rd place
We also gotta remember that it was his shikai ability that killed stark any color he calls out receives a damage multiplier based on how much of the color is on you an ordinary slash can become lethal
And that was combined with where the strike was. Because it was inside of Starrk's hollow hole.
My question is how does a hole have color
@@rickyza2894 because he didn't explain what exactly counts as "wearing a color", because the game's rules are more complex and vague than they seem and he'd only explained enough for Starrk to understand the basics and thus be capable of "playing".
It was one part rules lawyering, one part, technically fulfilling the requirements of your ability. In short, he cheated and that too is a part of "children's games".
@king emfj3201 it would count as them "wearing black" yes. That was the point of the attack. It was a technicality and because Starrk wasn't wearing much else that was black it was lethal. That's why it was both clever and "cheating".
@king emfj3201 if the shadow is cast on you, you are wearing it. I really like that you can ask if someone is dumb while literally not reading your own definition.
*have on one's body*
That is the catch. If anyone can't deal with it, its you. That would be why the idea is clever and cheating because its outside of one's usual understanding of a concept and yet connects in the vague and child like way of games.

900 hundred at 4 months ago? What an insane growth. Keep it up.
Would Kyoraku have been able to even touch Barragan without help though? It seemed like Barragan had one of the most OP releases. I still think Aizen just wanted to demean Barragan

Sadly, he's confirmed dead by the TYBW.

He showed 3 releases on his fight. What more do you want? 1. Gins 2. Wolves 3. Sword.... he is no 1 espada in every right.
I'm in question about it? Starrk is an awesome character and there was nothing wrong with him, but Baraggan I feel like should have been the Primera being the God King after all. Though that was mostly Aizen making Baraggan feel low no being at the very top.
king emfj3201 Who’s ikidomoe?
king emfj3201 but Ikomikidomoe respect Barragan so.
He has hax ability indeed but aizen state all that is matter in bleach is reatsu
I bet even his respira can be neglected by yamamoto and those who feats with him
I wish he did not die that way. I really like him. He is my favorite espada along with Uliquora
Starrk also gets me thinking a lot about the nature of his and Lilynette's bond, I even found some good fanfiction about it with some digging, and also it blows my mind when I think about one thing in particular: Starrk and Lilynette _know_ that anyone who is too weak will _die_ just from being near them! They know that, that their very presence, and even less than that possibly for weaker Hollows, will KILL WITHOUT ANY INTENT OR EFFORT ON THEIR PART!! Just imagine what that would be like, wandering Huecco Mundo, knowing no other living thing in that desolate desert could ever approach you and last more than a few minutes (I'm guessing) before dying...
Starrk was my favorite espada. The thing i remember most was when he transformed. Him bascially sitting down and surrounded by smoke with his two guns.... Epic.
I think stark definitely deserved the number one spot
Mee too
I feel like Kubu just added Starrk on a whim because he forgot he needed a primera espada.
Obviously late comment.
See, this is what I don't understand.
Starrk's aspect of death is loneliness/solitude. Before he joined Aizen, he was envious of the weak, as they could be with one another. His reiatsu, on the other hand, caused everyone weaker than he was to immediately die. He was so lonely that he even *split his soul into two individuals.*
Given this, he was incredibly blase about the deaths of other Arrancar and Espada. He literally only wanted to *pretend* to fight with Shunsui, as he was not even up for it.
He didn't care that Aaroniero died, or that 90% of the Arrancar in Fake Karakura Town died. He only began to care once Barragan died and he got a peptalk from Lilynette. I feel like he would have had better characterization had he actually cared for his fallen comrades.
some of the points you brought up were definitly kind of unexpected and did not even cross my mind before you pointed it out
DAMN! From 900 to just under 25k in 3 months!? Outstanding! Stark is and always has been my fav Espada, well him n Nelliel but she isn't really an Espada anymore.
