Hey Josh, Just got the Aivascope 1.5x and did a quick search to see footage from others. Would ya know... I misspelled with AVia (wrong) instead of AIva (correct) and got only 3 results (sorted by release). Seems I'm not the only one who likes to naturally spell it with AVia (seems I do this often). Anyway, wanted to let you know so you can fix the spelling in your title and perhaps get more views. Enjoyed your sample, BTW.
what are the UA-cam dimensions? Looks anamorphic (at 1:17 the clouds and moon pretty dramatic shot being that the flags and sky are included at night !)
I´m thinking about buying the Varicam LT.. problem is, producers here in Germany don´t seem to know much else than the Alexa, REDs and Sony FS-7/ FX-9.. what was your decision process? Did you buy the camera just now?
Hi. Ive had it for a few months. A good buddy of mine had purchased it when comparing it to many other high end cinema cams, and he ended up wanting to sell simply because he wants to invest into an ARRI and gave me a really nice deal...so I jumped on it...but Ive been so thrilled with the footage from it
The Varicam, especially in 444, just offers a much more robust negative to work. The color depth is much better, and it can be pushed/pulled much more. I also notice the greens from the varicam are much truer to life and less electric.
@@joshkiddfilms1295 Interesting thought. But are they still similar in a way? I was also wondering how you get so many cameras? V35, Komodo, XH2S, Etc. Is there no camera that satisfies you?
@@Aviciiz The S1h does a nice job getting really close in dynamic range, and has its own cool things about it the varicam doesn't have like ibis, and they both share the same full range log curve/science, so they are fairly similar and can match well. I just noticed richer colors out of the varicam mainly and a smoother roll off. In general I really enjoyed the Varicam, and didnt really get rid of it because I wasn't satisfied with its image...it was just heavy AF. Rigged up it weight right under 30 lbs and it was starting to hurt my back on jobs. Ive been shooting on Reds for almost a year now, and have been very happy with them. I've never owned a Komodo, but I use a Gemini/Scarlett W, and don't have any intentions on selling them. They are gorgeous. I still have and use my Fuji as well with them. The XH2s is a good camera, although it doesn't quite hold up to the reds...I do take it on trips tho and love it for that. I guess I am saying I feel pretty satisfied with my gear at this point, but sometimes changing it up does help to keep it fresh.
@@joshkiddfilms1295 Thanks for your reply, it makes sense that you got rid of the V35. Out of all the cameras you owned, which image did you like the most?
Looks amazing. Thx for sharing.
Thank you!

I used the 4k 2:3:9 preset in resolve. I’ll have it look at the exact dimensions. I want to say 4096 x 1728 off the top of my head
@@joshkiddfilms1295 yeah not Academy ... but lovey dimensions .always great work from you
which camera did you use?
Varicam 35

How does the Varicam compare to your S1H?

The roll off is smoother too
