  • What is the difference between full frame sensors and super 35 sensors? (also known as crop or aps-c sensors) In this video I'll be covering the difference between full frame and super 35, as well as their traditional uses in image creation. Now, let's get started!

      If have been trying to find this on UA-cam.....finally you nail it....question? Will a super 35mm 4k camera produce a better image then a regular 4k camera......

    • @CallumVandenberg
      @CallumVandenberg  3 роки тому

      @@tcibeatrecords4707 It depends on the size of the image sensor. Typically the larger the sensor the better the image. So if the image sensor for the regular 4k camera is larger than super 35mm, it would produce a better image. However, most cameras with at least a 16mm sensor or larger are capable of producing professional results.

      @@CallumVandenberg I'd question the comment "Typically the larger the sensor the better the image" - there are plenty of S35 sensors that will out perform larger FF / 135 sensors, when it comes to making better images.
      It depends on the quality of the sensor. For example the Alexa will still produce nicer images than many 4k FF / 135 sensors.

    A Full Frame camera has a sensor bigger than a Super 35. It seems like a contraddiction. We have to go back in time to understand why that word, 'super', was introduced. Years ago I spent a whole day figuring out why the word 'super' was used for 35mm film, when today it means a sensor smaller than a full frame sensor :) . Passing from the analogue context to the digital context the words got a bit confused. Thank you very much for your explanation.

    So to be clear, my Fujifilm aps-c sensor is a super 35?

    • @CallumVandenberg
      @CallumVandenberg  2 роки тому +2

      That's correct! Aps-c sensors are pretty much the same size as super 35.

    The width of a film strip per slide is in the horizontal 35mm not in the vertical as a stripe dimension. You have made a mistake at this point. The with of super 35 is the height of the 35mm film stripe.

    Full Frame = VistaVision
    APS-C = Super35

    • @orki
      @orki 6 місяців тому

      That´s not true. APS-C is bigger in it´s dimensions then super35. To be imprecise, there is a difference of about 1mm in the dimensions, where super35 is smaller.

      The full frame aspect ratio is 2:3, but Vista Vision is even wider. What's the V V aspect ratio?
