Im loving the Panasonics and the image they have been giving me at weddings, but more importantly how easy they are to use. Every shooter has commented on how easy the cams have been to use. This is the second trailer I've done from weddings Ive shot with these. Let me know how you think they compare to the ZCAMs and Blackmagics.

what converter do I use to connect these
@@amadoundiaye3156 really depends on your camera. Most mirrorless options have an adapter that makes them easy to connect. If you are trying to use on an Ef mount, the adapters use a glass element and trash the image. Better to have them converted if using for Ef.
Nice What u used for color grading?
Just great cinematic travel film, thanks for sharing. Like 26 ♥
@@outdoorstours thank you!
Very cinematic footage! Why did you choose super35?
@@dimitris.tsakalas thanks! On the s5 s35 mode cuts the rolling shutter down to very minimal without much quality loss.
I’m using an anamorphic lens in the same mode and still see rolling shutter as a bit tricky. I think anamorphic heightens it ?
Absolutely does I think. Are you using the anamorphic ibis with it?
@@joshkiddfilms1295 I forgot that’s actually a setting in the camera isn’t it you know what I thought I had that turned on but let me double check
Hey Josh, have you tried your SMC pentax lenses with the S5? I have a few and am thinking about grabbing the s5ii, so just wondering what that combination is like? Thanks.
I did use them a good bit with the s1h/s5 when I was using that combo, and they look very nice. The SMC pentax to me are a cleaner and smoother version of the takumar....and somewhat vanilla, not in a bad way really, but just with less character...which can be nice for most things
Still using it now or what have you moved to? Sounds like you're a big fan of it here and the footage looks great
The F6 to me has some really nice and pros and a few cons...ultimately I did move on from it awhile back an shot DSCM2 reds for a few years...now shooting smaller hybrid canons, mainly just to save my back. Most cameras these days can get the job done tho
Absolutely useless test
absolutely useless comment lol
i'm considering getting the 3.5 version (costs half as much) in mint condition for my GFX. hopefully it looks close to the 2.8 lol.
Holy shit, man! This is the best looking vintage lens test I've seen on a bmpcc. Kudos!
thank you!
Great video mate. Well done.
What a beautiful kid!
Great! You should try the rest of the K series, at the moment I have 2.8/24, 2/35, and 1.2/50. Would love to have this one, the 2/28 Hollywood, and the 4/20mm (there is a 2.8 version but is an A series, would love to know how well the A and K series match).
Right on! I have a whole set that I’ve been using for years. 28 Hollywood, 35 f2, 50 1.4, 85 1.8, and 135 2.8. They are great lenses!
Good stuff bro 👍🏾, first video I've seen that really shows off this camera 🙏🏾
Thank you!
Another great video Josh! I am thinking about getting one of these for my Fuji X-S10. What frame rates are you shooting in for these vintage lens you tube videos?
I feel like these ones from pocket cams was either in normal 24 or I’d just hit hfr button and go to 48 or 60 fps for slo mo.
Thanks for the answer Josh!@@joshkiddfilms1295
Thanks for all the information, Josh. I subscribed to your channel! Love your work!
Another awesome video, Josh! Thanks so much for sharing and the continued inspiration I get from watching your videos.
Thanks so much!
Amazing video! I can't wait to get into using my Fuji X-S10 more for video work with the vintage Takumar lenses(35 f2/55 f1.8/135 f3.5) I have and I am getting right now in the mail (Takumar 85 1.9 & Helios 44M-5). I assume that you used a stabilizer to get these lovely following shots? If so, which stabilizer are you using? Thanks for sharing this outstanding work of art, and for inspiring me more to shoot video with these vintage lenses! Cheers from Canada!
Thank you for the kind words! I believe I had a ronin s here. Now using rs2 tho. Those are some great lenses!
How easy is it to adapt these to Canon EF cameras? I know M42 is fairly simple to adapt to EF but how about K Mount?
I would say fairly easy. The m42 is just a screw on metal ring...the K mount is also a metal ring that just has a locking mechanism. Ive been using the K to EF for years with no issues with any EF mounts. The only time this presented a problem was on my .64 metabones EF mount. It didnt seem to like the K mount adapters for some reason
OR JUST BUY A LENS ADAPTER DUDE?.....
not sure what you mean?
Marvelous
thank you!
This lens are Radioactive?
Great footage again. Which version of the AutoTakumar 55 1.8 was this shot on?
Thank you! Not sure the exact version. Not the zebra one. Just the basic small one I guess.
Thank you, I will carry on with my ultimate lens set search!@@joshkiddfilms1295
Great video you have made there. I have the 85mm 1.9 and love it and have just bought the 50 1.4 Takumar but I'm keen to know if the smc 50 1.4 k mount is a sharper lens to get as the samples you've shown look sharp and really nice?
I find the Pentax aren’t necessarily sharper per se, but they are just kind of smoother and less textured. Almost more vanilla and basic if you will, which can be a good or a bad thing really depending on what you are trying to achieve. I really like the Pentax as taking lenses for anamorphics, but character wise they don’t have a ton
Oh ok, that is useful info, thank you. I now just need to think of a good vintage wider lens that has character but doesn't look low quality! Any fast suggestions are appreciated as a new direction for me to look at@@joshkiddfilms1295
The test at the end of the video is super interesting! 😊
Thx for the video 😊 how do you record zraw ? External with ssd ?
Zraw is internally recorded to the standard media slot but it sucks and is pretty much a waste of time, and not actually 12-bit. So I wouldn’t use it personally
@@joshkiddfilms1295 oh really ! Could explain why it sucks ? It is supposed to a raw so more flexibility in post Is it 10bits ? So I guess you shoot externally proresraw? Could you develop maybe ? Thanks for your feedback
@@Outlabyrinth I say ir sucks because it’s essentially a higher bitrate compressed h.265 in a container that reads 12-bit in software, but actually isn’t 12-bit at all. So there’s no real advantages to shooting it, especially when you consider how cumbersome it is, because the color benefits aren’t there. Real 12-bit is always better than 10-bit because it’s just much more data to work with. The best image that can be produced from the zcam cameras is external raw to either braw or pro res raw
How do you manage the activated pixels from radiation? Or do you see it as some sort of „film look“ when radiation introduce white blinking pixels? At least on my R7 when noise reduction is off and in some capturing modes the introduced noise by the radiation can get annoying, luckily its fine for downsampled 4k and still ok at 4k60 uncropped. What i really love the most about the 50mm 1.4 SMC Takumar: Wide open it introduce amazing looking flares and a very creamy look, stopped down to F/2 basically most of the flares and „glimmer/creamy look“ is gone and its even sharper than a Canon EF 50 1.4 @F/2.8 i had for a while. I feel the 50 1.4 Takumar is somewhat 2 lenses in once.
I’ve never actually noticed this on mine. None of the Pentax have thorium. Some (but not all) of the super Takumar do. Intrigued tho. Maybe it has something to do with the specific camera?
@@joshkiddfilms1295 my Canon R7s sensor is sensitive to it, mainly white dots/„scratches“ appear and very very rarely even blue dots in the video Its by far not even close to as noisy as if you would hold your camera at the firemans boot in the jupiter factory in chernobyl but still radioactivity is clearly visible in the videos
@@joshkiddfilms1295 and yes most of them are radioactive, watch one of my latest short clips the SMC Takumar 50 1.4, serial number 5.655.555 from about 1969-1972 i measured with 7,2 microSievert/h (0,1 yS/h is background). This 7,2yS/h are not even realistic since thorium is a alpha emitter and my geiger counter only detects beta, gamma and x-ray properly so its definately above 7,x yS/h
That was sweet bro
Thank you so much!
Hi there. What kind of Takumar lens is this exactly? Is it super or auto? If possible, can you provide a link for one I can buy? Thanks
It’s an Autotakumar 55 1.8. eBay would probably be the best place to find one. It wasn’t very expensive I don’t think.
What does the L stand for
I believe Luxury
For the money, the pocket 6k takes it away.
How beefy does your computer have to be? I’m on the MacBook M1 Pro, with an upgraded 10-core cpu, think it can handle z-raw?
Zraw Is made up of a higher bitrate of h265, so the newer macs with m1 should be ok with it…but honestly I think it’s a waste of time. Lots of time converting if you want to use resolve, and it doesn’t run smoothly in premiere. And it’s not 12-bit. Negatives far outweigh the positives Imo
@@joshkiddfilms1295 Do you recommend ProRes HQ and ProRes Raw in that case? Thanks man!
@@starterpvck2043 Pro Res Raw will give you the most data off the sensor in linear 12-bit. Imo I rarely see a difference between pro res HQ and regular Pro Res besides file size
love Biotar !!! thanks, man, f6 looks better to me. are you gonna upgrade to f6 Pro in 2023?

fuji xh2s sharpness settings?
As dialed back as they can be. Not sure the specific value. Flog2
Amazing as always. How are you liking the fuji? Been debating between it and the Gh6
Thanks! I like it although it’s tough putting it next to the two reds. They just hold colors and the range so well I think it highlights the fact the fuji doesn’t as well, but overall it’s got a lot to offer and I think it’s one of the best if not the best options when it comes to small mirrorless.
Beautiful man as always 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks dude!
Very cool test! Just wondering about your use of a varied assortment of cameras, like this Red Monstro. Do you still find a use for your Z Cam, or do you find yourself using other cameras more often?
Thanks! I sold the zcams awhile back before I switched to Panasonic for a season. Currently all I own is a Monstro, Gemini, and a fuji xh2s, and they get used for all the work I do.
@@joshkiddfilms1295 thanks for insight! Are you on the search for the perfect camera (or have found it!) or do you enjoy the process of using new cameras?
@@desmondbrosbonus I do enjoy the process of trying new things…it helps keep things fresh, but as far as cameras go I think I’m kind of at a point where the only step up really is to go into arri, and while I think in some ways I would gain certain things, I think I’d also lose some things I get with the reds. They are far more capable for shooting in dim environments, which I do a lot. So I don’t foresee myself making any jumps there. I have been watching the older arri non mini cams fall in price and I think it would be fun to own one at some point, but not anytime soon. I would like to replace my fuji with a Komodo at some point just to be all red and all raw, but not super high priority. I think the Monstro is really capable and love a lot of movies that have used it. Very happy with it.
what are the name , aperture and f stop of these lenses? amazing!
Thanks! I had the 24 1.4 FDL on some of these wider shots. And then the same Pentax set I mentioned…and I think I used a contax zeiss 35-70 a good bit during this wedding, but not totally sure.
Just, wow!
Thank you!
