    It does work. I have put about 200 lbs of media through it. I am pushing it way past its design, cleaning paint and rust from a utility trailer. I run it at 150 psi and it keeps going. you need to get in close with the nozzle, but it gets to all the areas that the sanding wheels and brushes can't.

    How long will a bag of the media last? Are you using an Harbor Freight compressor? If so, which one?

    I used my generic gun tip SnapOn sold me and repurposed it for outside frame duty. Plastic sheet laid out and actual 5 gallon bucket with my modified Venturi pickup. Clean filtered air is required as I run 120 PSI thru hose. The ceramic tip is large enough to slide a pencil into without wear.
    As truck / semi trailer shop next door to a place I worked used 1” hose & 1/2” ceramic tip and could cover 1 square foot every 30 seconds. That would be fine but I am not loading my C10 frame up for a trip. I don’t have plans to read “War & Peace” anytime soon, but I’m sure I would complete the book if all I had was 50 psi and this HF rig! ASE master tech since 78, retired.

    I considered renting a blasting tank. $70 for a day. So I started looking around for a purchase option.
    I have an entire frame of a trailer to clean up. Might just use the wire wheel for the wide open areas, and the blaster for the tight spots, but for the comparable inexpensive options, this one seems to work with the least amount of fuss.

      LOL It probably would! I really didn't know what to expect when I purchased it. The bucket is so small I knew it would be for smaller jobs. My Eastwood media blaster in my cabinet would eat that little bucket of sand in no time. For small jobs, it will get the job done. You would for sure need another solution for bigger jobs.

    What would be the smallest air compressor which can keep up with this blaster? What was your PSI setting? Thank you!

    • @1D10CRACY
      @1D10CRACY  2 роки тому +4

      Looks like per the manual it requires 2 CFM @ 50 psi. Tanks size would help to use it for short bursts if the compressor couldn't keep up. If you go to the harbor freight website and look the product up, you can download the manual and get more specs. I run mine on a compressor with only a 23 gallon tank, but it also has a 14+ cfm @ 90psi compressor head. I set the pressure regulator to 80 psi and use fine coal slag.

      I had the same problem, the internal nozzle had been assembled and put in backwards. The small hole needs to point toward the ceramic output nozzle. That hole is centered right over the media input tube. It creates the vacuum needed to pull the media. It works great even with my 4 gallon, 2 HP, 2.6 scfm @ 90 psi, Campbell Hausfeld compressor set at 50 psi output with Harbor Freight glass bead, 80 grit media.

    Do you recommend getting the gloves and hood?

    • @1D10CRACY
      @1D10CRACY  2 роки тому +1

      I personally wear a face shield. Also keep in mind some media like sand can be extremally harmful to breath, so you will want to wear a respirator if you can't avoid breathing it in. Gloves probably isn't a bad idea, I'm just use to it. The media will bounce back and get all over you and your clothes as well.

    What happens if you use 5 bag of sandbox sand?

    • @1D10CRACY
      @1D10CRACY  2 роки тому

      It may clog up and for sure wouldn't be as effective. You also would probably use twice as much to get the same work done as coal slag. Coal slag is sharp and it is also safer to breath the dust from.
