  • Hi! This is part two of my review of the awesome Nonlinear Circuits Resonate module, a vactrol based quad resonator for Eurorack.
    In this video I take you through a few patch ideas to showcase the module's abilities and sound.

      Synth Diy Guy the pinging sounds terrific too! Might have to grab this one.

      Synth Diy Guy I’m sure I’d use it exclusively for that haha! I have been ‘pinging’ my digitakt lately and the water drop/hand drum pop thing is just so fun! Hadn’t been able to get it to do the vocal thing though, just wow.

    To bad NLC doesn’t sell kits! I want so many of their modules, but I don’t do the whole find your own parts thing.... Love the videos, keep em coming!

      Nathan Shores check out the NLC builders guild on FB, they are super helpful with parts procurement ;)

      Synthcube has some full kits for NLC. Check them out.

      Thanks! Yeah I see kits on Thonk and synthcube and other places once and a while, but it always seems to be the ones I didn’t need.lol I will check again right now. I definitely need to start doing the builds that require ordering your own parts. It’s more of a cost vs time ratio thing, I enjoy soldering and putting modules together to save a few bucks, but I’ve always thought ordering a list of parts might not be worth it. I’m sure I’m totally wrong. Thanks for the advice!

      @@Natemasterflex Definitely worth the time for me. i sub out certain parts sometimes. i am an engineer though so ymmv. i haven't see it but that FB builders guild seems like it would make the part finding part (sorry :-} ) easy.

    Really great video. Do you have experience with the ResEQ? This looks like half (or so) of that, but with CV control.
    Also, I really appreciate your casual, understated style. Your genuine enthusiasm and joy is palpable.

      Thank you so much!
      I have not had the pleasure of trying ResEQ yet, hope to someday :)

      Looks like but it not the same. Res Eq Comb Out are amazing as changing a band changes the whole spectrum. Possibilities to self oscillate and feedback path!
      But… perhaps an NLC Resonate in the path before going to ResEq - that would be nasty 😈

    • @goonfish
      @goonfish Місяць тому

      @@rlanguillat I think that's why they specified HALF of the ResEQ, and while I'd say it's slightly less, but it is able to sound close due to its Vactrols & modding the freq-resp. by choosing different spec caps when building (adding a wider owerall bandwidth, changing where the peaks hang out, more low-end processing, etc.) - it was inspired by the Korg PS resonator sections not Serge, tho.
      The CV1 on Resonate also normals to all 4 CV ins, so you _can_ sorta control a summed 'Comb Out' functionality!

    How do you hook your scope probes up to your modular? Hoping for a cool tip I never thought of

    • @QuincasMoreira
      @QuincasMoreira 2 роки тому +1

      Hi! I bought some cheap scope probes and cut off the probes, replaced them with 3.5mm jacks :)
      But now I have something even better that Threetom sent me:
