One thing people forget is this is the generation Masquerain got it’s stats boosted in the transition so this thing with quiver dance and intimidate is kind of a monster. Gotta respect the little guy
one thing that i appreciate about your script writing is that it’s very “audio-only” friendly. seeing one of your videos pop up before work means that i know i’ll have some entertainment on my drive!
Not to be that guy, but you really shouldn't be watching youtube videos while driving unless you're just listening to them, in which case it's fine because it's like listening to the radio
I agree. Nuzlockes are user applied and so adjusting the rules are perfectly fine to do. I find it hilarious when people get enraged at UA-camrs for deciding on making their own video in their own way
Ultimately the one per route rule is to keep your roster size low and stop you from just using the best mons. So in a playthrough like this where you're locked into one type it's basically needless anyways. Your roster is already going to be super limited, and the lack of different types will usually make the game hard enough where you NEED to use the strongest mons you can. So I agree good choice!
Watching you just ignore Necrozma on Mt. Lanakila was hilarious. Like I’m imagining they see you coming and start reciting their “I was wrong” villain speech they’ve been prepping for a month and then you just walk away three sentences in
the whole mantine surf part followed by butterfree using a move tutor move made me realize how cool it is to be able to use those in a run because youre not locked to basically post game here. makes me wonder how the swsh dlc would change a run with the new move tutors it has
"Hapu's super easy, barely an inconvenience." I see you Flygon. The Ultra Games, despite their ridiculous amount of cutscenes, were really something. I really enjoyed Nuzlocking them in the past, really cool to see the bug types doing so well, though that snowballing at the Mimikyu fight, I felt that.
I hope you know how much we viewers appreciate all the hard work you put into these challenge videos. Your videos are super entertaining, and I genuinely look forward to every single new release from you. Keep up the good work Dr. Flygon!
Golisopod carried my team in Sw/Sh dude, ever since those games I’ve had mad respect for him. So much priority to choose from, stupid high attack (I found out later on that mine had max attack IV’s and a +atk nature, dude was a beast), he’s got it all
I always loved Hau as the final boss of this game. As much as i have a lot of criticism to UM's changes to the story, letting Hau take the role of Red to your Blue in this game really helps make him feel more impactful as a rival. I just wish that if you did lose the first time, they actually had him in place as the champ, instead of just replaying the first cutscene again.
I’m a huge Primarina line fan, I was obsessed with mermaids and sirens as a kid so having a singing mermaid starter was pure dopamine, flooded my system with childlike joy
When these games came out, Primarina jumped to not only my favorite starter, but my favorite pokemon completely. The typings, the design, she's just fantastic.
Pre-video: Sun and Moon actually have a pretty stacked roster of Bug Pokemon so I'm expecting this to be fairly easy Edit at halfway point: Garbage luck with Ribombee and Pinsir both being entirely terrible followed by losing Golisopod and Anorith early, funny how easily things can fall apart Edit #2: Yeah there we go, that second run was more like what I was expecting this challenge to look like.
Chargabug is one of my favorite Pokémon. When I watched the trailer that introduced it with it's cry, I immediately fell in love. Plus it lights up its eyes when it does things.
My favourite Alola starter is Popplio, but I actually really love all three of them; personally I think that Alola has the best starter trio out of any region.
My favourite starter from Alola is definitely Popplio. First time I played Sun I originally chose Litten because I adore cats, but I was so appalled by the final evo that I literally reset my entire game just so I could change my starter. I’m glad for it though, because I ended up choosing Popplio the second time around and Primarina quickly became one of my all time favourite Pokémon.
Bruce is right, the last proper level cap is level 57, two levels before Larvesta can evolve. Unless you mean to say Larvesta would need to level up twice during the E4 somehow. Even if it could, until then it's just taking up a slot in the party doing nothing because it's a Larvesta.
Genuinely can't express enough how much I enjoy your videos. It's been great watching these grow and improve all the way back to Grass only Emerald. You're easily one of my favorite channels, keep up the amazing work!
It's great that this channel doesn't just feature a summary of what happened in the challenges on the highlights channel, but also shows different challenges that are not featured there
I know bug types are the worst, but I love the bug types so much because they’re just so creepy, crawly and I love them. They’re fantastic, and before Wimpod&Golisopod showed up Ariados was my favourite Pokémon. I just… idk I love the bugs and I’m so thankful you actually made a run with them
I Love when nuzlockes arent just a run with a straight goal but an adventure, i felt the loss of Tuck right at the final battle. Having the emotional weight behind a pokemon death is what makes nuzlockes fun for me
Popplio went from the grossest, most memeable clown dog that everyone hates to one of my favorite starters in the entire franchise, Primarina is just so good. And a fairy type starter is amazing
11:18 I played Moon at release and haven’t played USUM until this year. When I got to this point and figured out Beach Points and Battle Points were the same, I started stacking those. I was really surprised you actually get to make your team competitively viable during the journey! Especially when the Power Items became available. USUM may not give me nostalgic vibes as Yellow or Crystal, but it’s definitely one of my favorite games in terms of difficulty and playstyle
I already know it’s going to be a great day when one of your favorite UA-camrs are doing a nuzlocke of one of your favorite types! Can’t wait to see this tonight! 😁👉🐞
Primarina is my favourite starter for Alola. Considering how Delphox was revived making a mermaid starter was definitely a bold move but since I never minded starters that were more humanoid or feminine I think it paid off. I love that it’s a final evolution starter that is more cute than cool and I will always appreciate giving starters clearly defined personalities through their designs.
I mean this in the best way possible- your videos always put me to sleep. I can’t help it, your voiceovers just make really good background noise! Your nuzlockes always make me wanna do monotype runs, too. Thanks for the great content!
My favorite Alolan starter has always been Popplio. Gets so much hate for no reason, I don't get it. I also love Rowlet, it's a VERY close second, but there's something about the little blue sea lion that does tricks and blows bubbles that is adorable to me. Primarina is also my exact type of Pokemon since I use more bulky hard hitting pokemon. Also, pretty sure the best typing out of the other Alolan starters 6 resistances, an immunity and only 3 weaknesses. Everyone always says "BuT It'S sLoW tHo" when all the other starters in this gen are just as slow.🧍🏽♀️ Compared to the other starters, it's on par. It's the same speed as Incineroar at base 60, and Decidueye is barely faster with 70. None of them are fast, it's kinda what they're known for.
I really like that Primarina has fairy as a secondary type (which happens to work really well with water). I was mad that there wasn't a starter in X/Y that had it. They were the games that introduced the fairy type, yet they couldn't give it as a secondary type to any of the starters?
@angygremlin4423 this part!! I replayed X the other day and it hit me all over again: "none of the starters ever get the new typing!??!" Blew my mind, really missed opportunity. Delphox could've been fairy instead of psychic.
Bug types are great in this game. Vikavolt, Golisopod, Araquanid, Volcarona (if you don't rage from a 1% encounter KOing itself witb take down), and Crustle are just a few standouts.
love how this video shows that even being a weak type that some of the weaker bug types are still far from weak. i absolutely love bug types, my favorite of them being scolipede
Gen 7 is definitely up there as my favorite game to watch the videos of with gen 5. I think that’s partly because it hasn’t been done as frequently. Such cool games
poppy is adorable!! for halloween, what about a team rocket duo for you and dana with poppy as meowth? though if you’re looking to go a non pokemon route, good ol hotdog costume is the go to for my dog :)
Love the videos, keep up the good work. As a bug-type enthusiast, I play my first playthrough with a mono-type bug team. And this generation was by far the hardest for a multitude of reasons. My biggest gripe about this generation in general is that bringing in a pokemon at lvl 1 to start with as a trade, can *easily* level past the "obeying trainer" cap on the first 2 islands. So throw that in, with probably the *worst* elite 4 type matchups for bug types in any generation, plus all the IV and EV shenanigans, this was super difficult. Thanks for doing the "worst" type, but they'll always be my favorite :) I won't even play a generation if I can't have Heracross and Joltik both now.
Mono-bug enthusiast here, I just happened to find this right when I picked up my Solo Mothim run again lol. Grinding for Olivia's Kahuna fight is what made me hiatus from it for so long. Definitely taking notes here for anything Poni Island and onwards now, but I'm enjoying the run! I think some people overlook how hard Olivia and the E4 are to bug types for USUM, so I'm glad to see them getting brought to light here!
WOOO ONE HOUR I've been putting these videos on to have something to listen to to help me sleep, as well as watching them normally, your voice is just so nice
With every video i watch i realise how much effort you put into them, especially the editing. Every bit of narration is perfectly in sync with gameplay, all the tedious bits are meticulously cut out. It is so underrated how clean your videos are. Not to mention hilariously entertaining.
I was literally planning on doing a Bug run in this exact game 💀 Edit: my favorite gen 7 bug is… idk actually, I love them all! recent generations really have been stepping up their Bug game
At 10 hours after the posting of this video there were 58k views and only 5k likes. We can do better guys. Let's show flygonhg how much he means to us all!
An hour long FlygonHG video is something I just love, you always do such great work. Also now that a Girafarig evolution is official and looking pretty cool have to say, will you use it in a playthrough?
Olivia doesn't use Rock Tomb against your Pinsir, because the AI STILL thinks Rock Tomb is exclusively a Speed Control move. And since Pinsir is slower, it will not go for Rock Tomb, nor the Z move.
Golisipod, Araquanid, and Vikavolt are literally my 3 favorite pokemon and I never cared for the bug type before gen 7, but oh boy did I fall in love with them
Quick reminder - the man played through one of the most cutscene filled games (that are also among the hardest to nuzlocke)...with BUG TYPES!!! I hope you are doing well Matti and please feel free to take a break after this one.
Rowlet is my fave starter! Also, I think allowing yourself multiple captures in a single route is fair game for monotype runs, especially in games like this one where a single route/area can be huge and often houses some sub-areas with entirely different encounter tables.
Yesss im so glad to see u dropping the one encounter a route rule, I really feel like when you're already restricted to a monotype, it's not a necessary restriction
The cutscenes in these games are miserable, but it does have a ton of encounters in it that spice up challenges. I'd love to see you tackle another "bad" type. Ice or rock?
QOTD: to this day, Popplio is the only time I’ve ever chosen a water type in a new Gen. Primarina has become probably my second favorite water type, only behind Buizel.
I swear that if the cutscenes were skippble/faster, pokemon sun and moon/usum would have been one of the favourites. I loved the challenge and aesthetic but I haven't been able to replay them because they're so slow
Reasons why I watch FlygonHG Videos: 1. Terrible Jokes 2. Terrible Puns 3. Terrible Jokes and Puns 4. I dont now any more synonyms for jokes. But i could watch the videos as a Podcast. I love the Humor. 9. The gameplay.
Always love your longer videos! You’re one of about 3 youtubers i watch (or, rather, listen to) while I fall asleep, so its always a time watching videos half awake and then actually watching them. Very cool, 10/10 would recommend. Definitely helped this previous insomniac
As silly as these videos are i have to thank you Mr. Flygon these videos have been a big part of the past year or so of my life, especially these past 6 months after my dad passed. Keep up the good work, and I hope that I can continue to support your channel for another year!
Sun and Moon were enjoyable and had such a great atmosphere. My favourite Alola starter is, hands down, Rowlett! As soon as I saw him, I was in love! Great video, and I enjoyed the journey.
I live in Dublin. Today a guy attacked me inside a bus just because I'm Brazilian. It was the worst experience in my life. I have a lot of anxiety and problems to sleep (I literally just sleep with your videos). Seeing that you uploaded today is making me feel so good that I can't even describe the feeling. watching it made me forget about what happened for some time. Thank you man, thank you for real, your content is really saving me in those tough times. PS: (Your videos make me feel so good and relaxed that I sleep. I didn't want to say that they are boring ok?)
Dewpider and Araquanid are 2 of my favorite Pokémon ever and I couldn’t believe it when you named them Tuck. Tuck/Tucker is a rarely used named so I never expected that
One thing people forget is this is the generation Masquerain got it’s stats boosted in the transition so this thing with quiver dance and intimidate is kind of a monster. Gotta respect the little guy
Surskit/Masquerain is my favourite pokemon, so this gen gets big respect for making the little guy good at last
Didn't Leech Life also get buffed in this generation? Going from a measly 20 base power all the way up to 80, making it as powerful as X-scissor
@@michaelkowal3230 it sure did. Gen 7 really is the Gen of bug types
Yeah, +20 special attack and speed made masquerain go from just an intimidate mob to a mon that can actually do stuff
I used it in a rom hack and it was super good
"As my therapist constantly reassures me, good things come in small packages" got a good laugh out of me. Another banger
"Who would watch a 1 hour long nuzlocke video?"
"OH BOY, 1 HOUR"
Meanwhile me: what, ONLY one hour?
(I kid, the sheer amount of effort that goes into long videos is amazing)

This is where playback speed is a god send

I saw 1 hour and wondered if it meant multiple attempts
one thing that i appreciate about your script writing is that it’s very “audio-only” friendly. seeing one of your videos pop up before work means that i know i’ll have some entertainment on my drive!
i second this

@@FeIlini not to be that guy but what exactly do you think they meant by “audio-only”?

I just wish he'd stop with the Yoshi cursing nonsense. Very jarring and unnecessary.
I really liked the extra encounters per route. The challenge is hard enough as it is, and this seems more fun for you.
I agree. Nuzlockes are user applied and so adjusting the rules are perfectly fine to do. I find it hilarious when people get enraged at UA-camrs for deciding on making their own video in their own way
I second that. I liked the change up & I think it had a positive effect on the whole product
It makes the early game easier, but keeps the rest of the run the same, which evens out the difficulty and lets you put some more rules in. I like it.

At 10:00 I love that Hala's Makuhita lands a critical hit on an arm thrust hit that still manages to do just one damage.
the whole mantine surf part followed by butterfree using a move tutor move made me realize how cool it is to be able to use those in a run because youre not locked to basically post game here. makes me wonder how the swsh dlc would change a run with the new move tutors it has
Pretty sure the move tutor moves wouldn’t be the most impactful part of the dlc in a nuzlocke.
This is why Usum are considered the most deadly and most fun
"Hapu's super easy, barely an inconvenience." I see you Flygon.
The Ultra Games, despite their ridiculous amount of cutscenes, were really something. I really enjoyed Nuzlocking them in the past, really cool to see the bug types doing so well, though that snowballing at the Mimikyu fight, I felt that.

Still the worst type tho
@@daviddaniel8304 ice is worse
@@daviddaniel8304 alone it’s the worst type but I like the unusual type combinations
I don’t think I’ve ever watched a FlygonHG video without his mons having the worst IVs possible
QOTD: My favourite Alolan starter is Popplio, because Primarina is amazing and Fairy type wich is amazing, but I also really love Hisuian Deciduyi
Primarina ended up being my favorite starter of all time. I just love its feminine design.
@@Marchingvenusaur yeah, too bad starter Pokémons are 88% male
@@Marchingvenusaur 🤨
These games are criminally underrated, easily in my top 5 of the franchise
Golisipod, Araquanid, and Vikavolt are literally my 3 favorite pokemon and I never cared for the bug type before gen 7, but oh boy did I fall in love with them
Love that the Alola region is getting the attention it deserves.
I just love that all the pokemon (at least so far) in this playthrough are named after the characters from "A Bug's Life."
My favorite Alolan starter is Popplio and it's my overall second favorite starter! First favorite is Fennekin
Valid opinion on poplio, not on fennekin (srsly wtf were they doing with that things design)
Great choices! I fully agree; I love my girls.
Super easy! Barely an inconvenience! That’s a quote I didn’t expect to hear today!
Hearing a pitch meeting catchphrase on a completely different video is TIGHT
You make amazing content man.
Wimpod turns into some hybrid of General Grievous and a Droideka. It's straight up Pokè-Star Wars.
QOTD: to this day, Popplio is the only time I’ve ever chosen a water type in a new Gen. Primarina has become probably my second favorite water type, only behind Buizel.
She's my absolute favorite water type, and 3rd favorite Pokémon ever.
I swear that if the cutscenes were skippble/faster, pokemon sun and moon/usum would have been one of the favourites. I loved the challenge and aesthetic but I haven't been able to replay them because they're so slow
Golisopod is my favorite Pokémon, I am so glad that it was able to tough it out to the end. GG!
Reasons why I watch FlygonHG Videos:
1. Terrible Jokes
2. Terrible Puns
3. Terrible Jokes and Puns
Man I hadn't thought about A bugs life in years, brought back some fun memories
As silly as these videos are i have to thank you Mr. Flygon
these videos have been a big part of the past year or so of my life, especially these past 6 months after my dad passed. Keep up the good work, and I hope that I can continue to support your channel for another year!
wow we're in for a treat! my favorate pokemon type, and a 1 hour long video!
Oh my gosh, I loved A Bug's Life as a kid! Happy to see it getting referenced here!
I loved your reference to Ryan George! You fit it in pretty smoothly. You made it seems like it was super easy and barely an inconvenience!😂
Dewpider and Araquanid are 2 of my favorite Pokémon ever and I couldn’t believe it when you named them Tuck. Tuck/Tucker is a rarely used named so I never expected that
I traditionally watch these while I run on the treadmill. The longer videos means longer runs. Thanks HG for making my lungs hurt
