How does this show not get the appreciation that it deserves?! Especially a show from the 1970s!!
This show was well ahead of its time, and really progressive. Rest in peace, Mary Tyler Moore, you'll be forever missed.
My favorite show of all time! It will never ever get old!!!
It is one of my favorites, but Rhoda is my number one.
Mary, Roda and Phylis walked so that Monica, Rachel and Phoebe could run - this show deserves more accolades for showing females friendships especially women with different personalities and background
I don’t know about the Friends ladies…maybe a bit. I think Mary, Rhoda and Phylis walked so Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha could run for sure.
@@cynthiachengmintz672 Or Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia...
Right this show definitely doesn't get the recognition it deserves
Loved this show so much and way ahead of its time and so amazing. Great and brilliant cast
I'm not sure if Chuckles Bites the Dust can be considered a 'serious issue' but I do know that in my entire life I have never laughed so hard. I laughed so hard that bodily fluids escaped uncontrollably from eyes, nose, mouth and on down. I was simply unable to stop laughing. At one point I didn't think I was going to be able to stop long enough to inhale and I would truly DIE LAUGHING.
Another good one was Mary’s addiction to sleeping pills and her realizing she was too dependent on them. The show managed to make this funny
Betty white was brilliant on the mary Tyler Moore show ❤
Betty White was brilliant in everything
Addiction is one serious issue that this show has tackled, too. One episode had Mary becoming addicted for a short time on sleeping pills. I think they made that episode later in the series
Ok, I feel convinced to watch this show. Thanks, MsMojo.
The show is really great
you won't regret it, it's the mother of sitcoms, you will notice how much 80s and 90s sitcoms are inspired from this one
Also, I believe, one of the first (if not THE first) sitcom(s) that focused on a single woman's work life as much or more as her personal life.
Think it’s very cool that Mary starred as the typical 50s housewife on the Dick Van Dyke Show and then the typical 70s working woman in her own show. A true trailblazer
I love, love, loved that you shined the light on this classic. I introduced my kids to this show and they all loved it to.
My favorite episode is the one in which Mary goes to jail. Her bravery and integrity is inspiring, and the moment she shares with Mr. Grant is very sweet.
I still can't believe they all are dead. RIP, Mary Tyler Moore. You did make it after all.
Chuckles Bites The Dust is my favorite episode.
Thank you for this list and not another one dedicated to Friends or that’s 70s show.
At least the 70s Show videos were part of a synergy with That 90s Show. I still don’t get their videos on Friends or Big Bang Theory (though I do enjoy the latter show).
@@SEGASister i despise BBT. that is another show watchmojo seems obsessed with.
Timeless show, amazing acting. Never gets old!
MTM was the best housewife and the best single working woman on TV.
Loved this show so much. First time watching it? As a 25 year old during the 2020 lockdown.
I love how the show dealt with women being single 🙂
Director: "are we really going to do this serious episode?"
Producer: "WE'RE GONNA MAKE IT AFTER AAAAAAAAAALL!"
People of my era (born in the 1950s) really understood the significance of some of the issues on the MTM Show. I thought it was remarkable from Day One, although my buddies laughed it off as a “girl’s show.” Other than All in the Family, people simply didn’t talk about divorce, infidelity, antisemitism. So audiences were appropriately shocked when they were highlighted on MTM.
Favorite episode? Season 6, the seminar. The actual boss and the guy who played the boss - Mary and Ed, in that order - probably had the most screen time together they ever had. They were brilliant together 😄😂
Really appreciate this. One of the best written programs ever and paved the way for many others. Favorite episode? the series finale. The ones you featured were high on my list though!
Very very great list I like it a lot very very great job mis mojo one of my absolute favorite list ever 💗 this is one of the very best tv shows ever did you ever do a list about serious issues from the TV show designing women yet if not can you please thank about doing that please 🥺
Chuckles Bites the Dust is my favorite episode of the series.
Remember This Show From Nick at Nite or TV Land I honestly can't recall
I remember seeing MTM on Nick at Nite first
Then Colby was cast on the spin-off Phyllis, but was sadly murdered after she filmed the first 3 episodes.
Msmojo You really should do videos on the good wife and the good fight
It is a Mary Tyler Moore Show, but I love Valerie Harper even better. But, yes, Mary Tyler Moore was exceptional in it.
The end of #2 is extra sad because they talk about when they die; now that the entire cast it gone. 😢
I used to love watching this when I was younger with my mom on the old 90s Nick at Night. This and The Dick Van Dyke show. Needless to say I'm an eternal fan of Dick and Mary 🥰
Chuckles Bites the Dust was an all time classic...one of the best sitcom episodes of the 70s. Though Bob Newhart tackled the issue two weeks prior (in a series highlight for THAT show)
You totally forgot the episode on drug dependency. Mary couldn’t go to sleep without her prescription sleeping pills. Lou stayed with her one night to help her through it. 🧐
With room for only ten, this is a great list. However, I would have added Murray's struggle with depression in place of one of them.
Mary Tyler Moore is one of best 1970s . They where first sitcom to have employment women .
Top 10 Times Bojack Horseman Tackled Serious Issues
Top 10 Times The Powerpuff Girls(1998) Tackled Serious Issues
I just finished watching an episode of MTM before I saw this. Lol
I used to love watching this on Nick @ Nite as well as I Love Lucy Brady Bunch and I Dream Of Jeanie
The episode which Phyllis"s gay brother is outed by his "romantic" counterpart, Rhoda, to a clueless Phyllis was groundbreaking in the early 70s. That one should have been in the list.
The freedom of press plot sounded like Mary was facing 🤬. Whoever hired that judge for arresting Mary for doing her job should've been sued.
Betty White was going to play Blanche Devereaux in Golden Girls but she wanted to get away from the Sue Ann type character...so Rose Nylund it was.
"Rhoda" basically introduced the world to Julie Kavner...who would go on to worldwide fame as Marge Simpson.
good video
So many episodes
"The Good Wife" ✖️ "Why Women Kill"
By today's standards this would be seen as "Woke-Trash" by the anti-woke crowd
too bad we don't have free press any more
Man that Edie was a stone cold b. Poor Lou did not deserve to get dumped like that.
Cool show 😎 👌 👍 👏 🙌 😀 😎 👌 👍 👏 🙌 😀 😎 👌 👍 👏 🙌 😀 😎 👌 👍 👏 🙌 😀 😎 👌 👍 👏 🙌 😀 😎 👌 👍 👏 🙌

Betty White is unrecognisable with colour in her hair! But there's no denying that voice!
Not really. I knew who she was despite her hair color because I have seen her on other shows.
I am guessing that you either didn't see the shows other than the Golden Girls or you are relatively young.
Am I right?
🤫🤗😍💖
