God, this song is so beautiful. I barely remember it from my teen years in the late 50 and would never have thought about it again except that in the last week it has appeared as part of a commercial on the weather channel. I didn't even remember who recorded it until finding it on youtube. As I have be laying in bed trying to recover from CV it brings tears to my eyes every time the commercial comes on. I grew up with the Nelson family on TV.

And when Elvis died, he was the #1 target for Col Parker to begin managing.) But it's nevertheless true that he never regained his original popularity once The Beatles and the "British Invasion" was over - which is very sad. But his fans remain loyal and there will always be Rick Nelson music here on this channel.
Ricky had a very limited vocal range, but what he did with it was fantastic. Very emotional in subtle ways. I do not care for loud screaming “belters”. They are annoying. This is gentle, kind, and tender. Besides his early hits, Ricky’s stuff later with the Stone Canyon Band was also very good. Ricky wrote, Easy to Be Free. Brumley on pedal steel guitar was superb.
So beautiful. Great song writing. Good backing band, Jordannaires, production, Ricky’s delivery wonderful. James must have played “red” on this one. Piano man tickled the keys just right. Brushes on the drums. I wish the upright bass had been a little more prominent. An emotional love song, heartfelt.
