hey, im brazilian and that bird specie is called bem-te-vi (translating freely is basically "I've seen you well", and the reason his name is like that it's because they sound like they're saying bem-te-vi when they sing), and they are free birds. I think that one was very young, and fell on to the floor... and because the couple took care of him, he created a bond with them. they don't usually let humans too close to them, and live in trees and stuff. pretty cute story!

At 5:37 when he comes up holding up the ‘Update’ magazine, that’s actually for USPS employees. I worked for them for 20 years and that’s something they mailed out to employees giving us news about the new things having to do with Post Offices all over the nation. I wish I knew if this family knows their mail carrier because one of them work for the same office. Being friends with your carrier is a very cool thing, but I can tell you THIS SPECIFIC FRIENDSHIP is the absolute best one I’ve ever seen! He’s so wonderful to make that little girls day! I bet if he’s ever out on his day off and a fill-in works those days, she’s a bummed out little girl! Same goes for him if she’s not in the window on any day. 🥰🥰

That’s bird is worth finding a new place it’s very rare a random animal that’s not someone’s pet to hang around you like that it’s almost a spirit bond especially if you let it go and it comes back out of free will that means it wants to be around you there’s something special about you
It is a baby bird, that's why it didn't fly away, so now he is it's new papa c: Baby birds when they grow feathers, they don't suddenly becomes adults but adolescents, they will follow their parents to learn how to survive and will still being fed by them
You can tell by it's short feathers and it's soft lips, they will harden and finally being an adult

The little bird part may seem cute, but it is a fledging. It was learning to fly, and its parents were likely nearby. If you see a bird that looks like that, with all feathers fully formed and with opened eyes, do not touch/move it unless it is in immediate danger. A lot of people just want to help, and I'm sure the guy meant no harm, but try to not disturb any fledglings :(
Good point (also definitely a fledgling with those yellow fleshy parts on beak corner) but that bird was definitely not safe. On the sidewalk with rats or cats and cars. The human in this case was it's best chance. And in this scenario there's not much the parent birds can do. Raised a nest of fledgling munias once. Learned how to feed them pretty quickly. Set them free once they started getting restless indoors. Even then some of them would hang around the garden for a few days. Wont forget about that experience 😊
