Do you mean large in area or large in population? In terms of area, Libya, Sudan, Mali, Niger, Chad, Bolivia, and Mongolia all certainly underperform for their geographic size. Countries that punch noticeably below their weight population-wise include Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. Additionally, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Indonesia, while considered emerging markets, perform far below their gigantic population size. There are about 60 countries with a larger population than Australia, but you wouldn't guess it by Australia's presence on the world stage. Countries like Yemen, Cote d'ivoire, Mozambique, or Cameroon have population sizes that rival or surpass Australia's. But the land down under easily contributes more to the world than all of those places combined.
Great video and greetings from the London metropolitan area, the 12th largest economy if it were a nation! As the largest metropolitan area by population in Western Europe, London is the most economically powerful city in Europe with one of the largest exports of services of any city and also a thriving global technology hub. Therefore, I'd say to have such influence and power justifies the status of alpha ++ as mentioned here in this fantastic video?
I've been think about what countries there are that are in the same position for size and population. Two examples would be Brazil which comes in at 5th for both size and population and Vatican City which comes in at 197th. I was wondering if there are any others
i feel like those countries are just rich, not really influential, switzerland for being neutral, and monaco for being pretty much just a tax heaven for millionaires
If you're looking for more countries small in size that are well over-represented on the world stage, may I suggest Ireland, Portugal, Switzerland, Hong Kong (not a country, but probably should be-- my hot take), Netherlands, South Korea, or Qatar. Even Greece could qualify on the back of its contributions to world history, culture, and the sciences. If a country only has to be (relatively) small in population to count, Australia emerges as a clear winner. You'd never guess that it isn't even in the top 50 countries by population... and not even near top 50 in fact!
i'm gonna add two countries: Ireland and Portugal,Ireland with very small but noticable popullation with thier huge diaspora in other English speaking countries, very well known country from thier history to very well known Irish celebrities and thier entire personslity is a thing that stands out, and about Portugal small country with huge speaking popullation in thier ex colonies, and multiple innovations that came from Portugal
They let Belgium have the honor one time. And then it's about world politics and war organisations, and the busiest port, which is untrue because that's Rotterdam. So the democratic killer called Belgium is fine there
@@mricardo96 the port of Antwerp is twice as busy as the 3rd busiest in Europe, Hamburg, so it's not small tho. Add to that the european headquarters i understand the inclusion of Belgium.

Singapore? More like, Singarich

Fun Fact: Monaco with just above 36,000 people has a similar GDP to Somalia with about 17 million.
Same with India and germany
Thats cause of western neo colonialism, monaci is full of oligarchs who steal from the global south
Somalia has a gdp of 12 billion dollars.
But in Somalia the girls are more hot.
If measured by GDP, is this the richest country in the world?
Perhaps not influential in the same way as the ones listed, but Jamaica's cultural influence far outweighs its size.
For the Netherlands it may be argued that ASML (Advanced Semiconductor Materials Lithography) is a huge bargaining chip.
Bro started with "size doesn't matter"
Well, that depends who you ask........ 🤔🫣😱👍
UAE and Singapore , amazing achievement for young countries , and UAE ranked 10 in soft power index 🤯
What motivated you to create videos such as these?
Curiosity?

If the Rhine-Ruhr was considered a single metro it would be the largest urban area in Europe.

Unfortunate that people only want to see their country mentioned.

Busiest port? How about Rotterdam?
Rotterdam port is much busier than Antwerp. 438,800,000 tons vs. 271,000,000 tons in 2023. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_busiest_ports_in_Europe
3rd or 4th in the world but its busiest in Europe
Rotterdam is actually #1 and Antwerp is the second.
Antwerp is the busiest port for cocaine tho 😂
0:00 that's not what she said
@elecro-bolt1721 🥲
Antwerp isn't the busiest port in Europe. That honour goes to Rotterdam.
Antwerp is the 2nd busiest. It's the port that gets the most cocaine in the world tho 😂
I thought Hamburg was the busiest port in Europe followed by Rotterdam
