    I think it’s silly and misleading to list Chernobyl as one of the worst places to live. No one could live there since 1986 due to the nuclear meltdown and radiation. How can it be on this list if no one has lived there in almost 40 years?

    • @MarioMastar
      @MarioMastar 2 місяці тому +4

      Yeah, that's what turns videos like this from informational to trivia/internet superstition. Heck a documentary actually interviewed real people CURRENTLY living there and have been since the explosion and they're mostly fine. they do stay barricaded mostly but are relatively healthy. It likely couldn't sustain a large population, but a small quaint village didn't show much signs of cancer or the horror stories people spread about it. Similar to how the two Japanese Cities bombed quickly recovered despite the US following up with tons of propaganda about how deadly fall out would be. Nagasaki and HIroshima are currently some of the largest cities and showed little evidence of the fall out resulting in legions of mutations. Yes fall out CAN cause these issues, but sensationalists like to treat what's likely a 5 year long disaster as a "To this day, you'll grow extra arms if you go near there" like they've read too many marvel comics or watched Avengers before writing the report.... Radiation doesn't work that way.... it's literally just exactly what it says on the tin, microscopic projectiles that CAN cause damage. Not a "miasma" of evil energy that can be "washed off with soap and water" or "duck and covered, then carry on." while simultaneously making an area "uninhabitable for the next century".

      People live there for a reason. There's also a reason why people don't live in otherwise perfectly tempermental locations. Whether buisness, agriculture, or just willing to deal with the pressures of environment to get away from people. Though those who are born there may have the opinions you're reflecting on, but like early nomads, you can just walk until you can't walk anymore to a better spot. Asmara is actually one of the nicest places to be in Africa. It is very clean, absolutely safe and low traffic and has good infrastructure and architecture because its basically an italian town from the 1930s and the climate is near to perfect which is around 20-28 °C all year round. There are many bars, restaurants and cafes just as in Europe. I have been there more than 10 times because I am Eritrean.
    The points you‘ve made about the city is being a bad place to live is purely due to poverty and politics which aren’t much better anywhere else. I’d rather live in Asmara than in Addis Abeba for example because Addis Abeba is dangerous, crowded and more polluted than Asmara.

      Most of these seem to be based on what information you can readily read about on the internet (from journalists mostly) but rarely address what's actually seen from ground zero by interviewing people who live there (Assuming you're allowed to. We only know North Koreans live horribly because they're NOT allowed to share thier experiences, which is a stronger indication of how bad a place is to live there than just some disgruntled californian who expected to be as rich as a movie star because he lives in LA and watched too many hollywood movies).

The reason I think Los Angeles shouldn't be grouped with the others is that, while it might be a pretty bad place to live if you are poor, if you're rich it has everything you want; restaurants with any type of cuisine you can imagine, weather that many consider to be ideal, cultural amenities, and nature not too far from the city. By contrast, I think a place like Norilsk would suck even if you do have a lot of money.

    -La Riconada has no real town government actually, utilities and the paycheck for the gold miners is a crappy policy (work 30 and then get to take as much ore one can carry as their payment).
    -Norilsk is a closed city actually and the soil has become so polluted that mining it a second time is economically feasible.
    -Tristan da Cuhna is actually a nice I hear and the slow pace of life without the distractions of typical living elsewhere is considered a blessing.
    -Alert is a research base, not a town; Grise Fjord (also on Ellesmere Island) though is an inhabited town.

    • @wardarcade7452
      @wardarcade7452 3 місяці тому +10

      Let's not overlook that (in addition to the blatant graft, crime, corruption and poverty) La Riconado at 5700 meters (16,700 feet) in altitude has a limited oxygen supply and has unbelievable pollution with unspeakable filth in its streets (only three showers available to the public - that's three individual showers- to be paid for).
      As for Tristan da Cunha? Yes, it has a slow pace with no distractions of city life. However, it's SO remote that food and supplies are rather sporadically imported and virtually the only locally produced food are the potatoes which each inhabitant is expected to participate in the farming of. Also, one had better learn to be civil if not like as many of one's neighbors as possible as only about 238 people live there. Hence, it's not hard to imagine that with its dual combo of extreme remoteness and a small population this would be a place where most if not everyone would be minding else's business . So if one likes having urban services, fresh varied cuisine and privacy, this likely wouldn't be the ideal spot.

    Los Angeles has a far LOWER crime rate than Houston Texas (Google the comparison) and also compared to many other Red state cities.
    And California and LA attract the homeless population from throughout the US.
    The chronically homeless in the US often eventually get a bus ticket to California…coming for the better weather, services and because they aren’t harassed for just sleeping on the streets.
    So California gets to deal with much of the homeless from the rest of the US.

Let me tell you, the one thing that makes Los Angeles bad is people who move here from other States. The bring their prejudices, hate, selfishness, and rudeness.
