Finally got around to watching this one. Goddamn good. I've said it before, Thorn is essential comedy amplifier. Like someone will make a funny like they're passing the ball, then she grabs for the red hot layup, thus scoring a home run! The, uh, opposition, which I guess is the unfunny, tries and fails to get a ruling against, because it's just too funny. So that's 15 love. What can I say? I'm a giant nerd and I really shouldn't have tried taking the metaphor in that direction.
Loved this game so much, I own it both on Wii U and Switch. The Switch version is... Infinitely better in every possible way. I might even argue it's better than Age of Calamity, but that's just a matter of preference.
Lots of characters in the OG hyrule warriors were just plain bad because they didn't do much weak point damage or were overall slow, and that basically meant you didn't do damage period. Playing as ruto sucked, impa fell off hard later in the game, and Tingle...existed. Though Agatha become an absolute monster if you got her the attack speed bonus for her weapon, funnily enough.
The ranking system was plain absurd, basically requiring no damage + a minimum of around 1500 kills + usually forcing you to do it in under 10-15 minutes and if you screwed up anything you had to do it all over again. "Kill the Imprisoned as Tingle" still haunts my nightmares.
Age of Calamity improved on both of those factors a hundred-fold, due to everyone being able to force open weakpoints, and especially thanks to the runes. Now suddenly being slow isn't a character-killer anymore. Daruk is the only one who's only just "ok" at the end of it all and even then he's still playable, while the worst of OG hyrule warrors really...weren't.
Finally, the awful ranking system was just outright axed, which is way better for the game overall.
That said, Hyrule Warriors definitely had it's moments, my favorite was a really brutal mission where you play as Midna and have to hold out against a ton of raids, then out of nowhere Linkle appears and saves you at the last second, it's like a reversal of Linkle's own campaign.
Overall though, i'd say Age of Calamity is an improvement over the original game in almost every way.
@@fusrosandvich3738 As I said, it's a matter of preference for me. Age of Calamity is definitely a better game in most ways, but I had more fun with HW and prefer how HW looks. I enjoyed pretty much all the characters in HW (except Tingle and his HD ass), but more than half of them were useless if you didn't know which combos to use and which to avoid, or how to use their special mechanic (like Ruto, who is pretty sub-par until you figure out that you just wanna build up her water-bar as fast as possible so her heavy attacks can wipe the screen.)
For whatever reason, I just found AoC to feel a bit boring. In retrospect, it was probably partially because I'd just recently finished BotW, so I had grown a bit tired of seeing the enemies. That, and figuring out where to get upgrade materials was a pain.
But as I said, it's just my preference. I imagine the vast majority of people agree with you.
HW plays WAY better than AoC
i kinda hope the fe three houses one gets a best of treatment too
I never really watched those streams because I absolutely loathe Edelgard as a character. Any stand-out moments you recommend?
Just once I'd like to see the Zelda series use Sheik and have her NOT be Zelda. Maybe someone working for Zelda under a historical guise, or maybe someone trying to play hero, just something new.
