Just another example of why Chester Bennington was the man.
Very true!
He was so awesome!
Love Chester, but come on...at least give the guy a backhanded compliment... or just a backhand.
@Mike Smith R.I.P.Linkin Park
It's still hard to come to terms with his passing.. Wish all this was a lie
Chester Bennington should have a documentary
Bro preach it, all in given time, it'll happen
@@iamadonut977 Nah they could make it about 90 min
Yes yes yes
He'd probably have movies and stuff made about him one day, that's for sure!
This comment is perfect.
Him telling the story so casually and the audience listening captivated is like a couple friends talking over a beer
Just like Chester always says, LP has the best fans in the world.
i was in the second row and it swas Amazing !!
Mike truly loved Chester didn't he. I mean you could tell from here. It kinda sounds like he's about to break down in tears. Hearing these old stories about LP and Chester feel so bittersweet but I'm thankful for them anyway. I honestly love it. I find it endearing to know these things and imagine them in my head. RIP CHESTER.
Definitely, the whole band is like family they would actually hang out all the time outside of band related things. You know how in most big families you usually have that extra bond with one of your members like with one of your siblings or cousins well in the band that was Mike and Chester they were the closest and a powerful duo. When we lost Chester, it hit the whole band, but it hit Mike the hardest. He didn't leave his house in weeks after Chester died he was so depressed that he couldn't even do his art or make music. The 1st song he wrote after those weeks went by was "Looking for an answer," which he played at the tribute concert to celebrate Chester. He started Post Tramatic to work through the beginning of his grief process.
@@dancerkris95 tnx for the info. Didn't know this
I just love that Mike always tells cool ass stories of Chester at each of his shows ..just goes to show you how much Mike really truly misses Chester ...I can’t imagine the memories that have to flood his mind day in day out ...💔..Thanks Mike , once again ~ you define what a best friend genuinely is and always will be for eternity ❤️🎶
Amen!!
I could listen to Mike telling any story. He always pulls me right in.
Johanna 2322 yesss
Nothing to do with the looping sad piano track, not at all
I was at this concert and I had never experienced a concert like it. I couldn't listen to any music for two weeks by anybody. It was just surreal between hearing songs from Mike's solo EP, Linkin Park Songs and Fort Minor songs all while Mike is talking to us and when he told us this story...there are just no words to describe that experience.
We will always love you and we will always miss you Chester. ❤
I WAS AT THAT CONCERT ABOUT 7 OR 8 ROWS BACK FROM THE STAGE!!!!!!!!! That story was both hysterical and helped show people the man that Chester was.
Story's about Chester = Huge smile + lots of tears + pride.
Thank you Chester for everything!❤
This just shows how humble and kind-hearted the guys of LP were at all times. Rest in peace, dear Chester, you did not deserve life's beating like this. Rock on Mike, Phoenix, Joe and Brad, you guys rule!
You forgot Rob dearie
I’m crying rn 😭 chester’s heart was full of love and kindness
Rest easy Chester
These Mike's stories about Chester makes me cry and laugh at the same time
''Pops! Pops! Its on the radio turn it up!!'' That honestly made me cry happy tears. Miss you man.
NotOceans Chester was one of a kind.
I can even see him jumping around shouting 😂
He was a special kind of person
Does any of you remember the clip where Chester hid in a locker to scare Mike, then jumped out, with this huge grin in his face, throwing his arms in the air, jumping around ?
So incredible lively...
Or him shouting: "I have a huge spider bite on my ass !" laughing and running around to show it everyone...
Gosh. Now I'm sad.
I was standing there laughing just listening to Mike tell that part of the story.
It's no surprise that Chester reacted so positive, he was just one of the nicest people to work with, I love how Mike talks about him from the best friend side of it, I remember the union underground, my band played with them in our home town of San Antonio, very difficult to deal with, which was a shame cuz they did have talent, but they couldn't to get their shit together, Patrick in 2007 founded Heaven Below, much different man, welcomed back this year, and recently released a new album, I hope he learned from Chester, I never got a chance to know him, but I have heard so many great things, he will be missed and remembered. Hope to see more of Mike Shinoda on the road, and hear the stories he tells of Chester Bennington RIP
Chester will be missed,I'm glade Mike has the courage to talk about this with his fans
Saaaame, dude. It's so cool that he can press through like that and help the rest of us collectively celebrate him.
I was at the New York show in October. Mike is an amazing performer and incorporates Chester into his shows so beautifully. I was lucky enough to be up front at the stage. Love you Chester(RIP) and Mike.
Same
Chester would not let negativity enter his world and used that anger and negativity and made it into art. What a legend.
Chester was a great human being, we should never forget him
Chester will live forever with stories like this. Chester is the kind of human being that I aspire to be every day.
I have nothing but love and respect for Chester.
May he rest in piece. 🤘🏻
Something tells me that Mike is talking about The Union Underground because I am looking at their touring history in 2000 on Wikipedia and they were part of 2 tours during the summer and fall of that year: An Education in Rebellion Tour with The Union Underground from July 22-September 5, 2000 and the Ridin' High Tour with Kottonmouth Kings, Rehab, Too Rude and Corporate Avenger from September 11-October 31, 2000. Now "One Step Closer" was released as a single on September 28, 2000 and they were in Cleveland at the time. Hybrid Theory was released on October 28, 2000 and they were Phoenix when the album came out.
Now I looked at the bands for each tour on Wikipedia as well and the only band that comes close to the story that Mike told was The Union Underground because Kottonmouth Kings, Rehab, Too Rude and Corporate Avenger probably don't have hair dressers and would take up as many makeup rooms as humanly possible and have multiple tour buses for each member of their respected bands when they go on tour. The lead singer of The Union Underground, Bryan Scott, looks like he could use a hairdresser from the picture that I saw on the band's Wikipedia page. He would be the kind of guy who would be rude to opening bands whenever they went on tour.
Fun fact: John Moyer, the bassist of Disturbed once was part of The Union Underground, so if he saw this video of Mike telling the story, maybe he can respond confirming or denying this story.
I BET...Linkin Park- Hit The Floor is a disstrack to that band... "One minute you're on top The next you're not, watch it drop Making your heart stop Just before you hit the floor One minute you're on top The next you're not, missed your shot Making your heart stop You think you've won And then it's all gone"
Haha yeah dude probably!
“And all your lies have got you floating up above us all, but what goes up has got to fall”
Well seen man
jack-tal Who ever band that was. Their were no where near as Linkin Park's popularity because they are so mean. Roasting their co-worker, fired him, and left him in the middle of parking lot... Chester should beat their asses so they will learn some manners...
It could be, though that song is not all that unusual for an LP song. A lot of their songs are lyrically like that.
Steve Lorenz Echavez from how Mike tells the story of how they had to really remember the guy when he was at the door of their bus I highly doubt Linkin Park spent time to write a song about it. I just think the lyrics of Hit The Floor is pretty standard and could be about a million things.
It sounds more like Linkin Park learned a lesson and moved on without being dicks about it.
Make sure you treat people with respect, You never know when they're leaving.
Miss you Chester.
Respect to mike Shinoda 🙏
I could listen to Mikes stories about Chester all day and forever. He must have thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands. Mike is a great story teller. Doesn’t hurt that he’s speaking about a gracious soul. ❤️
I was honored to hear this story in person.
This made me cry. Chester is missed.
Such a cool dude Chester was. Woulda been a honor to have him as a friend.
JDAWG ' he is my inspiration and I would have loved to have him as a friend
@@jasonramirez7780 Man I feel the same way. I can relate to him more than any other musically with not only his music, but the person he was. Funny thing is my real name is Jason R as well. I'm sitting here watching the live in Texas 2003 LP when they were on the Metallica tour. That show was freakin epic!
JDAWG ' we have the same name hell yeah. Chester gave me a reason to keep going in this world I've got depression really bad I either go to my friends or girlfriend and I also go to Linkin Park some thing about their music makes me feel happy and sad at the same time and when Chester died I tried to commit suicide my depression got the best of me when he died and I still haven't recovered it hit me hard just like it hit everyone else I am a really nice and laid back person and Chester was too I still can't believe he is gone I really can't
@@jasonramirez7780 Bro, me neither. I remember that morning when it came on the news and I was getting ready for work and just stopped what I was doing and just stood there staring at the tv in disbelief. I've been through some tough times myself and had thoughts before but I've had a son for the last 9 yrs and he is what has kept me going even loosing my mother in 2012. Just know you're not alone bro and we gotta keep going even when times are bad even if we don't see that open window yet or light at the end of the tunnel. Just keep grinding and trying the best ya can. I still get discouraged alot but I won't stop fighting until a greater power holds me down. Never give up bro.
I had a dream about Mike Shinoda coming to do a show with me and my friends and I kept crying because Chester wasn’t there and I told my mom that and she said he would be so grateful to know he touched my heart so much ;( I literally cannot stop my tears from falling when I watch these videos
Chester was an amazing human being 💜💜
SPECIAL THANKS to Mike for helping to keep Chester "alive" :-)
Chester was one of the kindest persons who ever lived.
Bennington was an amazing man. RIP
Guarantee you it was Union Underground! I saw them play at the state theater for radio show for 98rock where tickets were 98 cents (did not get 2 cents back from the dollar) LP opened for them and got booed off the stage in front of maybe 50 fans and the group were such assholes, spitting on their roadies and 2 years later LP were headliners at ozzfest on the main stage and Union Underground were on the small stage, I still chucked a bottle of Pepsi at the guitarist (Google it) and hit absolutely no one.. My dad (who took me to both shows bc I was 13) said LP was going to be huge one day and I said I didn't think so... He just gave me this look at ozzfest when LP was playing with one eyebrow raised and I understood exactly what that meant... And I just now heard the ending of this.. Sooo yep.. Definitely Union Underground
Googled them. They definitely look like a bunch of assholes.
You've got a cool dad!
Yeah. Whatever happened to them...besides not getting the fame LP rightfully earned and deserved.
It's still weird to just see pictures of videos of people like Chester Bennington or Robin Williams and so on, and realize they're just gone... They shouldn't be gone, they were of our few overlapping generations and just not old enough. - So messed up.
What about tyson stevens or dolores?
Thank you Mike for sharing another great memory of Chester with us. It just goes to show kindness & being a good human goes a long way.
Make some noise for the Legend! Chester Bennington .. such a great feeling to hear about chester...instantly makes u smile..
Great Story and We could Probably listen to Stories all Day
Rest in peace Chester u helped me thur my early teen days and even now as I am a adult now, I pray that that ur name will live on thur the rest on the guys of the band and thur the many people that u have come to reach thur the years and I hope ur light will never fade for those who still need to hear ur voice and the rest of the band as well but still we miss u dude but I can promise you this though my kids and grand kids will know who u and the rest of linkin park are and will show every one in the band the best and will keep buying the albums and down loads rest in peace Chester and God bless u and us family and friends and the rest of the band
I can't not shed a tear for Chester every time I see something from Mike or about the band. Love them so much 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
RIP Chester hope your playing the big gig in the sky
We have so much to learn from Chester. I feel proud to say that he is my idol
Legend for a reason.. Proud to be a lifelong fan
Gone but never forgotten. ♥ Appreciation for this story, thanks Rock Feed, for spotlighting a great story. ♥
Love you Chester ❤️💔❤️💔❤️
Chester was a living legend. I still miss that man. Gonna cranks some LP at the gym today I think.
Respect to LP
I love Mike's stories, puts a smile on my face everytime. Thank you for this. 😊
It really was Union Underground. Mike once told about how hard their first tour was and named Union Underground while telling the dressing room story. Anyways, Chester was one of a kind!
Big thanks to Mike for sharing little things like this with the fans🙏🙏🙏 RIP Chester...... 💜💜💜 a voice like no other. Great video Brian...... Still waiting for you to switch format back. It was so much better when we got to see your adorable face and your kick ass t-shirt collection. Please come back😥😥😥
When Grey Daze started fighting, Chester was the one going "Stop it, break it up!" 😟. He really don't seem like the bitter type.
Otep Shamaya spoke about this on the day of Chesters death. About how they were a small band when LP had blown up. Chester made them feel so welcome and was so inspiring to her. Its worth checking out, but if you don’t feel like crying...
99% sure the band in question is "the union underground" that would fit the timeline.
is papa roach
@@iletaMarchita what are you talking about? They toured with papa roach in 2000 and not in 1999. Anyway Papa Roach was also a new comer, and didn't have hairstylers neither...and also they were friends. Even before Chester's death, a month before they had a big dinner at New York city, they love each other. They are brothers.
So no, it wasn't Papa Roach...
Yes mike told this on the frat part DVD. The band is union underground
What is the mystery band? I wish to avoid them.
And I learned something from this video. Thank you, Chester. Even when shat on, you stayed humble. You were truly a good man -- and person. God bless your soul. 💜
Love you Chester may he rest in peace
Union underground had 1 good song “Across the nation” which was WWEs theme song for a while in 1999-2003 I think. It’s funny how they’re obscure now and Linkin park were relevant 17 years straight
He's talking about Union Underground. It was their first tour supporting.
Appreciate sharing with you all .❤
Thanks for uploading, Chester, i will always honor you
Woww i miss Chester more and more,
Thanks for the story
I try so hard to be like Chester. I will continue to do so.
Hey congrats on 200K subs dude! You made it! You've come a long way in a short amount of time. I fuckin' love it!

I’ll never forget the first time I heard one step closer back in like 99.. they blew my mind. Instantly became my favorite band and got me through high school. RIP Chester.
Chester Bennington 🖤😇🖤
thanks for still covering Linkin Park the only reason why I subscribe to you was when you were covering all the Linkin Park knows when Chester had first passed away this when I first really found out about you and you actually have really good content I enjoyed and thank you for continuing to update us on Linkin Park
Legends never die they stay in our hearts forever. 🙏💞
I heard Chester talk about this in a former interview. The band was The Union Underground.
Mike Shinoda deserves any success that comes his way !!!
Am about to go through ALL comments n see what band this was.I have to know! Chester was such a beautiful soul.Another story of him being a cool, sweet guy.Miss going to see you sing live on tour.Never dissapointed,n always beyond blown away by your talent💜🤘🎙🎶
The Union Underground's claim to fame was their theme song for Monday Night Raw. One classic song to LP's 7 classic albums.
don't mess with chester
You know Mike is a pure artist when he can tell you a story that will make you bring your purest imagination.
I was there! I have the full video of the story and everyone singing in the end.
Beautifull story!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think about Chester...miss him... AZ in the house.... sometimes I see Mike and it sometimes gets my heart heavy.. because when he goes on stage and as he plays or makes some type of memory.. it's like his friend his brother his other half is missing... and it breaks my heart... much more memories could of been made on stage right there and then with Chester,Brad,Rob,joe, phx. Dear lord anybody affected by this, bless them and give them strength.
MIke has such a pleasant voice i could listen to it all day
I love Linkin Park and it broke my heart when I heard the news.
Chester brought Linkin Park home to Arizona!!! They met the parents ❤️🏠
Humbleness. keep jamming out wherever you might be. Rest Well.
The Union Underground is the band Mike is referencing.
How do you know
Mike told their name in an documentary made by mtv.
who the hell are they?
Not the same without Chester! Fly high 😘
Love you Chester RIP
God damn I miss him ❤️
wow, good stuff rock feed. subscribed
hahaha, love it! Go Chester!
Pretty sure he's talking about a band called "the union underground". Its the only band they ever toured with & opened for that was never majorly successful. They look like douches to.
Yes, I agree it had to be Union Underground. I was 21 years old in August of 2001 and went to a bar only looking to see Union Underground; when Linkin Park was setting up at the small venue my bud and I were at the stage asking them questions and were pretty much the only people at the front. When they started playing we were blown away; to say the least when Union Underground came on we listened to a few songs and saw Chester in the crowd (he was wearing a beanie) so we decided to follow him to the bar. I bought him a shot and sat bull shat at the bar with him for over an hour. I had the whole band sign a single-cassette tape with "Points of Authority" and "With You" on it. My sister became a HUGE Linkin Park fan around 2003 and I gave her that tape; she still has it, I still have my memory of my conservation with Chester at a bar in downtown Corpus Christi that was called Buckets at that time.
@ That is super awesome. I am so happy you got that chance. Some of the most amazing people in bands I met were the openers.
@ That is really amazing, I'm really happy for you. It's great to hear you have family members who are also LP fans. I guess Chester would maybe still remember you. It's kinda strange that his story is from 2000, shortly before One Step Closer was released, and yours is from 2001, whole year later after that, they were still touring with the same band as an opening act, even after Hybrid Theory became huge. I guess they wanted to play as many shows as possible, so they went to play as opening acts even though they were probably already headlining some shows at the time
@ Such a great story, thank you
@ Cool, that makes more sense, because I know they started touring few months before Hybrid Theory was released. I had no idea they were handing out Points of Authority/With You tapes at the time. Actually I think I didn't even know this particular tape existed :D I only heard about One Step Closer/With You tapes before. They have to be really rare at this point, that has to be super cool to have. I actually checked for the tape you received and found one on web for like 180 bucks, so one signed by the whole band must be worth a fortune. I'd never sell it if I had it though :D It's a piece of musical history and surely one of the rarest Linkin Park music media pieces out there (especially a signed one)
God bless you Chester
Heroes are remembered but legends NEVER DIE🤘🏻❤❤
I remember the old intro, truly epic.
What a humble guy
If I had to guess, it would be either Union Underground, Kottonmouth Kings, Everclear, or Hed(PE) based on the time frame and their concert history.
Chester ❤❤❤
Chester will live on through his friends memories forever!
So humble
One Step Closer was relised 28 september 2000. On 14 October 2000 they played with Kottonmouth Kings in Austin, TX, US. Maybe on te way back to LA they visit Chester home town.
I didn't find anything on others concert in the october of September and October of 2000s.
I love Mike Shinoda
Rest In Peace Chester, you were a legend
