- It turns out he was waging war collecting the dragon balls just so he could become a average sized man. Its a funny plot but at the same time imperfection is part of people. After this scene Staff Officer Black becomes the main antagonist for a brief time.
Fun Fact Commander Red is the only major villain who Goku never fights or even meets

Commander Red’s pettiness was most responsible for the Androids’ creation, leads to Goku’s death, Trunk’s future timeline and salvation of Universe 7 from the Tournament of Power.

To be fair he was his investor , gero was likely away mourning his sons death before he learned of the entire armies defeat.
Dr Gero helped build weapons for Commander Red and the Red Ribbin Army.
After RED and Black died, the good doctor went underground, So he could create his Androids. Even Cell.
I read that dr. Gero’s wife was not only a beautiful woman (Android 21’s model) but also more brilliant and better person that he was… so how did she have three boys with that creep?

It's pretty hardcore for Black to kill Red, but perfect.
Alternatively, staff officer black could have at least summoned other Officers and Soldiers. Staff officer black then led the other officers and soldiers in assassinating Commander red

He didn't exist in og Dragonball he got added in during Z.
To my understanding he only ever appeared retroactively on DBZ
He was never thought up until later. I think it would have been more powerful if he really was there and interacted with Goku in Dragon Ball.

Commander Red's wish was stupid. All of this was just to grow a few inches. He wasn't thinking about the army, only his own self-image.
In the end, he's got no army, no cash, and no one left to betray. All he got was a bullet to the head.
