I abandoned MM several years ago. I bought the MM BEP and liked it so much that I bought a backup bottle. I then found MM 46 Cask Strength at a Costco of all places, and picked up 2 bottles. It is so good! 🥃
Was stoked to see a new “What’s New on the Shelf” entry. My love of and interest in bourbon really started with this channel and specifically this series of vids! Keep ‘em’ coming, love the channel! 🙌🏻
Just grabbed one of these in MI for $59. I found a ton of Ethanol and needing it to really sit before I could put my nose to it. And that's coming from someone who really appreciates barrel proof bourbon. After that I get most of the same notes that I really do love! The cherry, vanilla, Caramel really come through. I also did get quite a bit of barrel char on the first glass. Solid pour and I'm glad I grabbed it 👍
When I saw it, the red label definitely had my attention and almost passed it up until I saw it was a cask strenght. So far, it's a damn good pour and worth the buy. CHEERS!
I picked up a bottle yesterday and was very pleased with it. Thought it kind of sipped like OF 1920, similar dark fruit and chocolate notes. That might make a good blind. Awesome review!
Just picked up MM 46 to replace a bottle that I emptied and also picked up the MM 46 cask strength. Looking forward to giving it a try. Thanks for the review Jason. Cheers.
Scored a bottle of the "new" MM 46 cask strength while in Cleveland last weekend. Haven't cracked it open yet, but I agree with Jason that the old bottle looked cooler with its sleek design. Maker's Mark is a solid and readily available pour, so I look forward to availing myself to some tonight when Jason goes live.
When Im in the mood for a wheated bourbon, there's none better than MM46. I have a bottle of the MMCS @ 112.5 proof and I will mix equal parts tonight and see what it tastes like! 🥃Cheers!
I really liked the last bottle I had. I haven’t had the new label yet. I like the new design, the red label pops. And the batch number is interesting, I wonder if this will create a “batch hype” similar to ECBP.
I wish this was 'on the shelf' here. Had to go down to Maker's to finally get my own bottle. Let's hope this gets better distribution this year because it's one of my favorites!
Regular cask strength at Binny's is a go to bargain. I picked up the 46 cs at MM this summer and it's a good step up. Glad to see it hit the shelves locally. Your taste notes are spot on for me.
It's funny the new bottle is what it was like back in the 70s just saying. I liked the 46 French stave 90 proof my store doesn't get some of the hard to find bottles they do have the cask strength which I'm planning on getting. And for the money it's well worth the money. Great review. Enjoy.
Well, Hell, I've been looking for the old style bottle for some time. I thought the MM 46 Cask Strength French Oak red label was a different whiskey than the Original MM 46 Cask Strength. No wonder I haven't found what i was looking for. I actually know where it is on sale right now. Good to know. Will pick it up this evening.
Is there a batch# on the old bottle style/label you have? There is clearly a batch# 23-02 on the front of the new bottle in review here. It's even visible on the thumbnail. Maybe I missed it, but there was no mention of the batch #(s) by Jason.
Definitely getting the cherry. Good callout. I was trying to put my finger on it and this review pretty much nails it on the head. Overall, I’d consider it a bottle worth trying and see a place for it and look forward to sharing it.
@thegoods2240 My experience is some bourbon's change when they have had a little air in them. Also, I feel like our taste buds evolve over time the more variety of bourbon you try.
Jason, Why was there no mention of the batch #(s)? There is clearly a Batch# 23-02 on the front of the new bottle in review here. It's even visible on the thumbnail. Maybe you didn't have info on it, at the time, but would be nice to hear some info on what that's about. Guessing it means it is the 2nd batch of 2023 for MM 46 Brl Prf. That is the current batch I'm seeing on shelf in Nov '24. Don't know if the old style bottle you have there has batch#s, but like any bottle, could use the bottling date to get good info on it. Very useful when hunting for the much better WT 101 of 2017 & prior. The standard MM Brl Prf on shelf here in Nov '24 is Batch# 23-06 at 109.5P.
@TheMashandDrum Thanks for reply. I'm not too familiar with MM stuff & how they do batches or when it started, etc. Familiar with ECBP though. Appreciate the portions of the reviews where you provide info & history on all that stuff. Thanks & cheers!
I had a bottle from the 10th anniversary release and 1 from the year after (no idea if there was multiple batches each year ...) but the 2nd bottle was phenomenal (not that the 10th anniversary one was bad or anything) Guess I should try to find this batch now :P
With a lot of bourbons I’ve drank, the first sip gives me the most flavor then diminishes each sip. Maker’s 46 CS did the opposite for me. Must have a weird palate, but I enjoy this bottle.
I thoroughly enjoy this bourbon. I have the same batch that you just reviewed - 23 02. I liked it so much I bought a back-up bottle. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your bourbon reviews!!
Huge Makers fan. But never been a fan of the standard Makers 46. Just had an off putting spice I could never acclimate to. May have to try the CS new or old just to see how I feel about it
I've seen other people review this and come away swearing up and down it's totally different juice. I don't think it's a coincidence that it's the same type who claim this every time a product has a bottle or label change (e.g. OF 1920, ET BiB, etc.) Even with consistent blends you'll have flavor drift between batches, so it's hard for me to jump on board with the unsupported claims and pet conspiracy theories that are always in the air.
I have batch 23-01 and it’s not nearly as good as the old bottle. Maybe your 02 batch is better. I do remember getting quite a bit cherry on previous batches.
Not sure where to ask this, but has anybody used Shared Pour to purchase the Cedar Ridge pick Jason did? I'm wondering if it's a legit site, and if the pick is good. I'm sure it is, but I would just like to hear from someone about it.

Can't wait to try. Need to clear some Makers off the shelf so I can bring this one in.
Finessed one at the px. They had it labeled wrong for 39.99.

I LOVE 1920. I may have to pick up a bottle then
This is my favorite bottle right now.
Just picked up MM 46 to replace a bottle that I emptied and also picked up the MM 46 cask strength. Looking forward to giving it a try. Thanks for the review Jason. Cheers.
I got to say hi to Mr. Samuels (Jr.) this morning when I was there for the MM tour. As a 46 fan, that was an unexpected treat.
I love his motto cuz Alcohol is my favorite thing to share!

39.99 at Meijer in Lexington, KY. Bought 3. Basically a buy 2 get one free. MSRP everywhere else is around $60

I have a prototype bottle of 46 I bought during Ambassador's Weekend in 2010.
I really liked the last bottle I had. I haven’t had the new label yet. I like the new design, the red label pops. And the batch number is interesting, I wonder if this will create a “batch hype” similar to ECBP.

I like the new bottle look and LOVE this whisky

Liked the bottle enough to buy 3 more. Right up my alley.

Love my 46 bottle from 2021 and haven't tried the 2023 but love the new retro label.
Still have two old bottles. Love this whiskey. Haven’t seen the new bottle in the wild yet.
I saw this on the store last week, and it never dawned on me that the bottle had changed. Now I got to pick one up.
I love the regular French Oaked , so I’ll be down to try this
i like the old bottle, but the new one matches with the other makers mark, its nice to see all the same bottle size and styles in a row
Is there a batch# on the old bottle style/label you have?

Definitely picking one up this week.
Maker's 46 is one of my go-to's I'm not really for cask strength whiskey but I definitely want to give it a shot just to say I've tried it.
I’ve had 3 bottles of it and I like it. Looking to get another one. 😊
I like the old bottle design,
haven't seen makers mark 46 cask str in my area. hope to see it soon. cheers
Definitely getting the cherry. Good callout. I was trying to put my finger on it and this review pretty much nails it on the head. Overall, I’d consider it a bottle worth trying and see a place for it and look forward to sharing it.
More MM46CS coming out!! hell yeah!
very cool review, will be going by a store tomorrow that has this in inventory! thanks for the tip
Mine was a little harsh the first time I had it. Came back to it a week later and enjoyed it much more the second time around.
@thegoods2240 My experience is some bourbon's change when they have had a little air in them. Also, I feel like our taste buds evolve over time the more variety of bourbon you try.
Had the same experience with Dickel Bib
59 here in pa. Really enjoy it.
I will buy one of these soon.
Solid review, as always.
This is delicious and highly underrated. One of my faves
Sippin' it as I watch your video, great content as usual. You deserve 100k subscribers!
It's one of my favorite non allocated pours
This is my next bourbon but theres a place i can get it for $31 and then after that four roses small batch yeah! Liked and subbed!!
I love the old bottle shape and logo. Hate they went away other than the Finishing series
All ya need is a 30 Rock clip and its a throw back to Thursday night lineup on NBC
Jason,

@@motohead077 yeah didn't mention it since it's in the broll but yes I can mention that next time.

picked this up at Costco this past weekend.. bout $55.00 i think. Tasty!
Makers Mark 46 🔥🥃
I had a bottle from the 10th anniversary release and 1 from the year after (no idea if there was multiple batches each year ...) but the 2nd bottle was phenomenal (not that the 10th anniversary one was bad or anything) Guess I should try to find this batch now :P
Nice shirt. I need to revisit my Makers. It has been a while. Thanks Jason. (edit I called you Scott)
With a lot of bourbons I’ve drank, the first sip gives me the most flavor then diminishes each sip. Maker’s 46 CS did the opposite for me. Must have a weird palate, but I enjoy this bottle.
Love your channel. I always learn a lot. 🥃
Great juice!
I thoroughly enjoy this bourbon. I have the same batch that you just reviewed - 23 02. I liked it so much I bought a back-up bottle.
Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your bourbon reviews!!
I can get 46 in my area for about 35$. Charging another 30 for cask strength is kind of crazy.
Huge Makers fan. But never been a fan of the standard Makers 46. Just had an off putting spice I could never acclimate to. May have to try the CS new or old just to see how I feel about it
I like the old bottle better, but do like the new label. Unfortunately, I can get the regular 46, but have never seen the cask strength on the shelf.
55 bucks at Costco in St.Peters, Missouri
FYI - Apple Cinnamon cookies are a great pairing with Maker's Mark Cask Strength!

I might be way off here, but to me this is chocolate chip pancakes with butter and maple syrup
love this stuff. great content
I love this stuff, it's 🔥
I have been a fan of the MM 46 Cask Strength for a while. Not much of a fan of the lower proof offerings. I think the old bottle looks better. Cheers.
Miss the old one
Cherry jolly rancher is dead on
Agree, hear better things about 46 than BEP
Have you tried or would you try Uncle Nearest ?
Jason, let’s see why you can do in photoshop to combine the labels
100% agree it’s better than the BEP
I left a comment
I have batch 23-01 and it’s not nearly as good as the old bottle. Maybe your 02 batch is better. I do remember getting quite a bit cherry on previous batches.
Blind this against Weller. 107 🙊
You think you could just put the 1915 there and I wouldn't notice?
This was just in a blind in our tournament and it was not good. It tasted like furniture polish. To be fair, I liked it the time before.
Yeah I had that experience with a bottle before. Interesting
Not sure where to ask this, but has anybody used Shared Pour to purchase the Cedar Ridge pick Jason did? I'm wondering if it's a legit site, and if the pick is good. I'm sure it is, but I would just like to hear from someone about it.
Didn’t care for it. Letting the bourbon open up. The older version I remember being better.
I’m with you. Love the regular MM46, but the first two pours of this haven’t been my jam. Plan on revisiting in a couple of months.
Same here. I think this is the first time I liked the lower proof version more than the cask strength. Hopefully it gets better with time.
OF 1915 behind you?
What? Where is the A/B comparison with the original M.M.46 cast strength? 🤔🥃☹️
Huh 🤔
No comparison?????
The one on the right side of the screen is awful, the other is superb.
My bottle of 46 CS smelled amazing but tasted like fish tank water. Won't be buying again. Regular 46 is great.
Cherry tobacco all day…
Really, a screw off cap...C'mon...so cheesy
Wasn’t a fan of this, especially for the price.
This new bottle is so terrible looking compared to the old. Awful
Original style bottle better.
I like new version got Batch 23-02 proof 110.1 so freaking good 😋🥃🟥
