    Strandberg UA-cam channel shows you how to do intonation without removing the string.

  • @zanzabar4ky7

    You are supposed to put that cut out near the controls on your leg. If you put the jack there it would ruin it. I have never heard of anyone else not liking the jack since it goes out he back near the tuner instead of digging into you like the A2. If you loosen the strings you can pull the string to the side of the saddle and do intonation and height adjustments (at least with the Trem models you can.)
    The pickups are not angled so they work the same on trem and hardtail, it would be nice if they could bring the hard tail in.

    11:50 because the spot u point is where they assume ppl to put on their lap,
    that's why there's two curve down there, not sure if that make sence, at least it actually sits well on my leg
    and yeah reintonating really takes time

    • @TheGooseChaseMusic
      @TheGooseChaseMusic  11 місяців тому +1

      Personally it didn't balance well when I tried to use that curve. But everyone's different and it can totally work for others!
      The cable placement is definitely a hard problem to solve for this shape.

  • @Dookiefists
    @Dookiefists 9 місяців тому +2

    If you just wear a strap and thread the cable through it the output jack location isn't an issue, and the bridge is no more difficult to intonate than a floyd, which also requires you move the string out the way to intonate it

    • @TheGooseChaseMusic
      @TheGooseChaseMusic  9 місяців тому

      Fair points. I would just say for the latter, I would just prefer to have the simplicity of a hardtail on a non-tremolo bridge.

    • @Dookiefists
      @Dookiefists 9 місяців тому +1

      @@TheGooseChaseMusic That's fair but from a support point of view the saddles and how they're implemented are identical on the trem versions which makes them much easier to replace if you ever have one go down as they are all cross compatible and I think that standardization like that is better in the long run for backup service.

    • @TheGooseChaseMusic
      @TheGooseChaseMusic  9 місяців тому +1

      @@Dookiefists sure but a company like Kiesel has a much easier to intonate/maintain bridge setup, and the saddles are also compatible between hardtail and tremolo.
      To each their own though, if it's what you're used to at this point, then my opinions won't ever take that away from you :)

    I had the same issue with the intonation setup on my Boden Metal. The saddle kept slipping. I tried to tighten the screw more with the multitool but it appears either the thread or the hex screw is stripped. I could not get enough clamping force for it to stay where I wanted it. I ended up returning the guitar altogether. This bridge needs a complete redesign in my opinion. Intonating a Floyd Rose can be painful but this annoyed me even more. Overall, as much as I liked playing the guitar, the asking price of 2400 EUR is ridiculous.

    • @TheGooseChaseMusic
      @TheGooseChaseMusic  10 місяців тому

      Aww that's a bummer. I feel like it's a really a good guitar but definitely the bridge is the part I would want them to rethink for future iterations.

    • @Chillhoof
      @Chillhoof 10 місяців тому

      @@TheGooseChaseMusic Yes. Everything else was pretty nice, fretwork was great out of the box. Some minor flaws in the finish but that's the usual lottery when buying online. The ~1600 EUR for the NX standard seems reasonable. But ~2400 EUR for the Original / Metal variant I can't justify. For that price I'd expect a more noticeable spec bump.
      The Hipshot headless bridge actually seems like a much more intelligent (albeit more bulky) design. But I assume Strandberg wants to keep things proprietary.

    thanks...several subtle but salient cons
    to accompany the pros...
    i appreciate your specificity.
    i was about to pull the trigger on a strandy,
    kind of impulsively...now...second thoughts.
    i do not like inconveniences!
    i touched an endurneck and fell in lust...
    but some ladies are just too much trouble
    to suffer, beyond the infatuation phases...
    anyway/much appreciated!

    Thinking about getting one, right after getting two Orsmby guitars that are amazing, both headless. One is their Goliath, similar body shape, the other is a V. They have a more extreme fan fret/multi scale, but no zero fret. Im really debating if the neck is worth it

    • @TheGooseChaseMusic

      It's definitely a try-it-first sort of neck. Didn't bug me, but I know a few people who's style of play just doesn't suit it.

      @@TheGooseChaseMusic I ordered one, it comes tomorrow. I got the Boden Standard NX7, I wish I got the trem model after I noticed it's only 100 more and looked up reviews of the trem and heard it holds tune nice and isn't hard to set up, I'm normally not a trem guy, but I'm happy still with the purchase regardless I hope. Jepp, chipped out a small piece of the inside of the spike next to the output Jack already.... The backside material of the body is really sensitive in general, thats the downside of lightweight and resonant wood I guess. But having little flaws in the finish here and there is the destiny of all guitars that are actually in use, no matter what prize point. Despite that I absolutely love playing the Standard NX 7.

    • @thepoopfactor
      @thepoopfactor 9 місяців тому +1

      Yeah basswood is just really soft. I have an Ibanez RGT1220PB and it immediately got a bunch of indents on the bottom from keys in my pocket. I like the scars on that though cause it adds to the burley wood look, and the weight difference between it and a prestige or J custom feels like the weight difference between a strat and a Les Paul.

    dude... the action and intonation adjustments are super simple and absolutely do not require taking the strings off.... a 10 second search would have saved you making a whole misinformed user error rant and spreading misinformation. Theres a whole official strandberg video posted years ago on how to properly do all of this right on the strandberg youtube channel FFS. And so what if you have to turn the saddle 180 degrees, they are finely threaded machine screws that have some fraction of a mm between threads...
    If anyones interested in the right/easy way to set up a strandberg - ua-cam.com/video/7GjE5g-M-80/v-deo.html

    • @TheGooseChaseMusic
      @TheGooseChaseMusic  3 місяці тому +1

      In their video at 4 :25, they remove the string completely from the saddle to adjust action. When I first looked up intonation, I referenced that exact video where they slipped the hex key at 4 :50 under the high string, but my low string was too thick to even fit the tool they provide. It was easier to remove the string from the saddle. I would've complained more if I spent any longer trying to fuss with trying to slip the tool past the string.
      The hex saddle might be well threaded but I actually wanted my height in-between the 180s and had to settle. That's just my experience.
      I stand by the statement that it's still a good guitar, just not for me. I said in my conclusion that these things might not be issues for others. I'm glad it works for you.

    • @_jovian
      @_jovian 3 місяці тому

      @@TheGooseChaseMusic They moved the string off the saddle to make the adjustment, they didnt "completely remove the string". With any guitar, you should be removing tension from the string before making action adjustments, deflecting the string off the saddle isn't that much more work, especially when you can make the adjustment basically without a tool. If you had trouble adjusting the intonation, again which with any guitar you should be removing tension from the string to do, its probably because you didnt loosen the string enough. I've adjust the intonation, including the low B, on my NX7 following that video without issue.
      It's ok thats its not for you, but you shouldn't be calling skill issues design issues, especially since its these kinds of videos people watch that are researching if they should get one or not.

    • @TheGooseChaseMusic
      @TheGooseChaseMusic  3 місяці тому

      @@_jovian yes, of course I loosened tension first. I tried everything before ultimately just removing the string to set the screw because the string was just in the way or still adding some amount of pull, because I was intonating for a full 2 whole steps down and needed the saddle almost as far back as it went on the nx6's saddle, and this was when I already clamped the string.
      I don't know what to tell you, you can continue to call it a skill issue, but the person I sold it to even said I set it up really well. I stand by that it's more of a fuss than any other hardtail guitar I've ever owned to adjust these simple things. It's not just me, others have also run into the saddle slipping during adjustment or playing, or the potentially chipping piece of wood near the output jack (which I thankfully did not run into).
      Again I'm glad it works for you. I stand by my statements that it could or could not be a dealbreaker for others. And if it's not, it's a good playing guitar, like I said. Have a good day.
