Headache might come from a pitch in the car equipment. BUT! What I notice the most is that it pulls air from the cabin because it uses the heatpump to heat or cool the battery. Since it uses the same heatpump to do both you might notice that the airflow might be a bit worse when it's pre-heating or cooling the battery. Perhaps the increase or decrease in temperature also has an effect on you.
I'm jealous that your energy graph is almost spot on. We make frequent drives from Bisbee to Tucson and ours varies quite a lot, anywhere from 3-7%. Because of this, I feel more comfortable adding an extra 10% at a Supercharger just to be safe.
Yeah it’s strange, I’ve noticed it a few times! Wonder if anyone’s studied it. I think it’s either the sound… or having all that lithium and electric being warmed up below us
Some people are very susceptible to the high frequency whine emitted during pre-conditioning. I hear it but it doesn’t affect me. Could almost see my house in the shots! Nice video!
One thing for sure to like about electric cars is the local fact that my neighbor's car doesn't "cold start fume" in the morning, he has an electric car now :)
Hey Steve thanks so much, did it take off the £500 for you? I'm hoping to save some points it will give me to use for the Speed Acceleration boost, so when I do that video it will be thanks in part to you!
Re headaches, it might be air CO2 level is not under 800ppm in the cabin while charging, or anticipation of this. This CO2 buildup from exhaling air can be lowered by making sure climate control air flow is high enough to bring in enough fresh air. You could also compare the Model Y which has improved air filter
@@MBrownsupercharging is maybe the longest time in car while stationary which is why I thought of that because when not driving airflow into cabin can be reduced. Tesla might not be affected by this. I've tested a Mercedes car which was. I have a co2 sensor to confirm and the Tesla did perform better though i haven't comprehensively tested as I rarely supercharge. Preconditioning could potentially affect air flow too because the climate control is acting differently such as warming battery as well as cabin, else Pavlovian expectation of sitting stationary in the cabin could be involved. Just a speculation to consider, none of this could be relevant 😄
This may seem odd, but what I found very useful was seeing your car with LBC (DAB) on. I am waiting to get a Model Y and trying to get my 'old' head around the technology, and I could find nothing about Radio.
Hey Paul, yes the radio is pretty much all DAB, but works really well. My old car would always tune out in DAB but this works well, plus you have hundreds of internet stations too
Great vid as usual Mark, went to Bath last year for the first time and loved it. As for the Tesla maps, I agree, sometimes its just not reliable. We went to Looe in Cornwall last week, and the Tesla maps were taking us down some of the most narrow roads i've ever seen in the UK (two way but just enough space for the Tesla, brushing the hedges on the side of the road), whereas google maps was sticking to the more accessible routes. It's a shame they don't utilise Google route planning, definitely makes me more conscious now when travelling to new places.
Thanks Adam, yes those Cornish roads are a nightmare (did you see my Tesla roadtrip video?) I scratched mine first month due to those! Think I'll use Google maps next time haha
@@MBrown Yes i've seen your Cornwall road trip vids, it's what gave me the confidence to go there without much range anxiety 😂 Yes definitely good to have Google open as a backup, won't stop me going there again though, lovely place. Look forward to your next road trip vid
Hi Mark, nice video and thanks for checking out my home city, a long way from Australia where I live these days.... Can you link me the airbnb you stayed at? Looks perfect for my future family visits home. Thanks!
Hi Mark, a couple of observations on your trip. 1, Iv'e noticed on my M£ that even though the sat-nav is supposed to be Goggle based it really isn't keeping up with road changed unlike on the 'phones. 2, is the charger hub you were at had quite a few non Tesla's charging, is this the future when they are opened up to ALL non Tesla's? Just a thought.
@@MBrown Great they have an electric fleet but not ideal taking up that many at the same time. Must have a deal going with Tesla or is that one of the sites open to non Tesla’s.
DPD really need to push off, they are always there charging their vans. Couldn't they install it at their depot? I doubt they need to shop at the Trafford centre
No headaches for me so far. That's interesting, do you think eventually it has something to do with static energy? (I don't even know if that's a thing..). Great content as always and thanks for sharing.
yeah I'm really not sure, I thought it could either be the high pitched noise, or just a huge battery with electic flowing through the whole thing.... prob not great to be so close to it
Never thought I’d see you explore my home city! Great video 👍🏼 they’ve just added Bath for a supercharger vote on the Tesla website
Hey it’s a lovely city! Love it, yeah would be great to have a supercharger there

Yeah maybe I’ll try opening the window and see if it still happens
Really enjoy these trip videos. Keep them coming!
Ryan’s so much! Will do
Loved Bath. Will added on my next trip to uk. Thank you for the enlightenment 👍
Thanks Khaled hope you enjoy it if you go!
Mark, thanks for another Road Trip Video! Bath is one of our favorite places in England and it was great to see you and your wife visit there. Cheers!
Thanks Robert, yes it’s a lovely place isn’t it!
How are white seats holding up?
Would you recommend them?
Yeah really well! Currently filming my 25,000 mile review!

Yeah mine used to be really out. It might have been perfect temp and wind
Another interesting and useful vid Mark, cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it Nick!
i thought its only me having mild headache when preconditioning! which i was keeping it to myself thanks for bringing that up

Absolutely enjoyed this one too. I’ve been to Bath and I loved it there.
Thank you! 🙏🏼

Yes that’s great! It’s nice to know I’m driving around a town with no fumes coming out
Thanks for the tip with the little coffee cups 👍
You are so welcome! 👍
Used your referral link today. Nice £500 saving and 0% APR on a discounted model 3. What’s not to like. Cheers for the link.

@@stevelloyd8942 that’s great! Let me know what you think of the Tesla when you get it
No, never had a headache when the battery is pre-condtioning or at a supercharger. However, I do get a headache when I'm around my wife!!
haha! it’s hard to get rid of that one
Great video. Bath is now on my wishlist for a tesla trip.

yeah i feel dissy too when precondition the battery , but when at supercharger it's not bothering me anymore

@@MBrown Did you manage to track down the Airbnb listing?
Did the Charlotte street chargers not work? Why did you have to charge twice in Bath?
I don't think so? I just wanted enough charge to get about for the weekend

Yeah so it’s looking like they are opening them all up to non-Teslas
As always great watch Mark, interested to see DPD delivery 🚚 charging at a Supercharger. Didn’t know this was a thing.

Not yet hopefully coming soon
Headache during preconditioning: I definitely hear the car making preconditioning noises, but I've not gotten a headache from this.
Thanks Robert
😂 perhaps you should consider driving a Nissan Leaf. There's no precondition the battery!!
I'd give it a try!
EV's LOL.
Burning a load of liquid, and filling a tank on and on to burn another 50 litres, lol!
