@@colinbleach9390 fair play. We all have our different interests and collections. Do you go in for vinyl a lot ? Been seeing an increase in the popularity a lot recently. Have you worked for HMV for a while ? Interested to hear if things have changed at all for you since Sunrise took the reins. I find the CEX prices, aren’t that much different, to buying the releases new and sealed. I suppose it’s good if you have a voucher. I used to hunt the charity shops/car boot sales etc. Now everyone knows what stuff is worth. It’s been around 2-3 years since I’ve traded anything in to CEX, to make a profit. Or traded and swapped for something CEX has in stock.
I think that’s exactly why I didn’t use the store credit. Just found that things were close to ‘new’ price wise. A fee stand out prices but not really on the things I was looking for. Very true that a lot more people are more aware of the worth of certain items. I want to try going to a car boot again but the last time I tried. It was slim pickings.

Yeah, guilty as I feel it’s very very rare I high street shop anymore - HMV is about £4 more expensive on Amazon on pretty much everything. CEX can have some good deals but the cases are always shot to hell with horrible stickers on them. I do know a local pre owned blu ray / game shop which is my best bet usually for any physical shopping. I lament the high street dying, but at the same time I am part of the problem, I only ever really shop online.
I’m going to try and make more effort to go to the high street more regularly. I’ve become lazy with the ease of ordering online. Now I’ve started to cut back on the ordering it allows time for some things to drop in price in store. CEX after all this time still haven’t learned how much damage their stickers can do to the boxes and special editions. I’d have thought they’d have changed them up a little over time.
Thanks Matt, I’m still on the lookout for the Jack Burton Q Fig in a B&M, was happy to actually find the Rocketeer though. Need to work on the framing for the Picture in Picture if I do another like this. I’m quite aware that at a couple of point a I was blocking the product.
I don’t think there’s a particular ‘need’ as such to visit the high street stores. Everything is available online and with you as soon as the same day for some services. I think it’s been refreshing following up a break from buying to actually go into the high street store without the agenda of having something particular to pick up. I browsed at my leisure and enjoyed a cuppa. I created a little experience with it and… it was nice. Better than the browsing and clicking at home.
Everyone does voiceovers. I wanted my own spin. Just give it that little bit more effort. Not just my hands that are huge. I’m 7 feet tall (or 213cm) ! I always worry about putting my hands on the thumbnails. They do look ridiculous at times. Got the ET fingers going off 😂😂
@PhillwithadoubleL yes it does come across that there was alot more effort went into it. I am quiet the opposite I'm 6 foot 5 with child sized hand. I knew you're hands were massive when you were holding a blu ray.

I’ve not been shopping on the high street for so long. Same as you, I just kept using Amazon or HMV. I’ve tried to slow my purchasing online now and going to try and use the high street a little more. Just take that time for myself to escape and get out for a couple of hours rather than just scrolling online. Plus, with the rate our stores are disappearing. I kinda want to put a little back into the brick and mortar places before they’re all gone.

Some of the CEX prices are well out. Thinking the voucher for the trade in might get used on electronics over more movies. I’m not using that store credit to be rinsed further with over priced titles.

@@DVDhoarder it’s sad seeing so much disappear from actual stores. Do you usually just rely on ordering online ? Do you have some good local releases or end up importing a lot ?
@@PhillwithadoubleL I live in small town, so yes, I mainly order online. Nearest city is 60km away, where there are couple small second hand shops and fleemarkets , big stores might have one shelve with dozen newest releases (MCU, Barbi, Saw X...) , if even that. So, ordering from online stores has been the way over ten years. Realy miss rental stores and BIG movie sections in supermarkets where you could just look around and try to find good titles/sales 😥 Local (finnish 🇫🇮coverart, subtitles) releases, we still have those time to time, but those are rare nowdays. Mainly the onces are sold around here are either UK releases with fin-subtitles or scandik-releases, witch covers backtext is on 2-4 diffeerent language... and those mainly are these popular titles like Dune and John Wick. Everything special (smaller budget, tv series) you have to order elsewhere (german and sweden has good releases) but then you need to have at least basic english skills,. And of course, its more expensive. Used to make weveral orders from US and CA but now days I buy my movies inside Europe.
A lot of my dvd collection went to charity. A few went to CEX but I just wanted them cleared from my house. Although they offered very little, it was still a little back for another day. Admittedly some I could have perhaps made a little more on eBay but the time and effort for that just seemed too much when I wanted them gone as soon as possible. I do have a few saved to sell on eBay soon, purely because they’re nice edition and as you say… CEX would scalp me with their buy rates.
I agree, their DVD pricing is basically pointless, most are 1p ... I suppose you could take in 100 of DVDs for £1 or drive down there with 1000 for £10. Their DVD section is depressing as you can see about 200 copies of Love Actually or whatever films, just rows and rows of the same stuff. I occasionally look for a DVD if it is an unusual one. I either sell the more unusual ones on ebay but most are just for the charity shops, some charity shops are now doing 20 DVDs for £1.
@@Graphicxtras1 I’m hearing rumours that CEX might be stopping taking any more dvd in stock. I’d be surprised as I still think some titles can be quite popular. I can see them getting a little more picky about what they take into stock over the next few months though. I ended up taking a bunch of dvd to the charity shop. Just didn’t seem worth the effort to keep taking them into CEX
@@PhillwithadoubleL That would not be a surprise to me. The DVD department is huge in town and that is a lot of space taken up for things that could be filled with more lucrative electrical / musical etc equipment. Seeing endless rows of the same DVDs is plain depressing with the occasional gem in the set (as well as very few customers venturing into the section). Blu-rays / 4K are a better option surely as there are often many people wandering up and down buying them. When charity shops struggle to get rid of DVDs, why would CEX keep them or at least keep receiving more.
@@Graphicxtras1 some DVDs are a struggle to even give away at times. There’s just not really a huge interest anymore. Especially with the increasing number of streaming options.

I’m interested in Babylon more because of Chazles previous work. It’s been a temptation for a while. Game wise, the open world games scare me a little. I don’t get a great deal of time and sometimes with the open world things o can’t remember where things are and end up wandering aimlessly for far too long. Personal faves have been from Naughty Dog with Uncharted series and Last of Us. Just catching up on Spiderman and the Tomb Raider games at the moment. Had a big long break from gaming because of having young kids. Didn’t want them getting addicted too early 😂 Video length, I tend to try not to over extend them too much. Terrifer is great a third one is coming. Def worth watching.
Man… it’s sounding like I’m gonna have to get them watched at some point soon.
My mate will be happy someone else is recommending them to me 😂
❤ Art the clown appears in the anthology movie All Hallows Eve before the two feature film Terrifier movies.
The criterion of Wes Anderson's Rushmore for 18 pound used is just a tad cheaper than I paid brand new
Same, was going to comment on the high prices in CEX for it but think I more or less said the same kinda thing for their American Werewolf…
CEX sticking high prices on most boutique releases 🙄
Wise spending Phill👍🏻
I’m trying. Not saying I won’t slip every now and again but think I did pretty well on this shopping trip. Especially with having a £50 credit note in CEX.
Very good progress, you are doing well.
Just found ur channel. Excellent stuff
Welcome to the party pal !
Glad you enjoyed Colin, nice to have you here. 🙌🏼
Are you a big collector of movie stuffs ?
@PhillwithadoubleL Hi Paul ..not really ..music is my thing. .but I do work in an hmv
For me as a consumer, I love seeing that it seems to be thriving… and also, staff on HMV have usually been pretty excellent and a joy to chat to.
I've been with hmv for 33 years.. the new stuff has brought in the kids which 5 years ago everyone was over 40
@@colinbleach9390 think I mentioned in the video that I don’t care much for all the merchandise beyond the music and movies but… 100% happy for it to be there if it keeps HMV thriving on the high street. Nice to see a younger generation being drawn into the store and having that ability to discover other things while they’re there.
While you phill focus more on movies, I on the other hand tend to focus more on anime and music not right now but one of these days I will get around to doing that ,Good luck 🍀 in spending your money wisely 😊👍
I used to be big on anime a while back. Sad thing is. I kinda got bullied out of it. People didn’t understand it and I became a bit of a target for it.
That’s a lot of years ago now though. I still get the occasional anime movie but just need more time to sit and take them in.
Focus on what you love ✌🏼
Nice figure 👌. Like the picture in the picture, very slick 👌
Thanks Matt,
I’m still on the lookout for the Jack Burton Q Fig in a B&M, was happy to actually find the Rocketeer though.
Need to work on the framing for the Picture in Picture if I do another like this. I’m quite aware that at a couple of point a I was blocking the product.
@@PhillwithadoubleL better than I could produce 🤣
@@MattVs_Movies don’t sell yourself short Matt. I’m sure with a little patience you’d easily manage it.
I haven’t been on a hunt for some time now. 👍👍
Do I miss it ? At the moment I’ll say no
I don’t think there’s a particular ‘need’ as such to visit the high street stores.
Love the way you don't just do voice overs your actually on screen. Also your hands are huge 😂
@@Jon-vp7uq used to love putting my hand over my kids face.. looked like a facehugger 😂 I should been a basketball player.
6foot 5 is a good solid height.
I live close to there i should actually go down and look instead of keep using Amazon 😅
Nottingham lad now living in Australia. Subbed
Ayup me duck.
Why would you leave Nottingham for Australia ?! Haha.
Where in Australia have you settled and how’s the movie collecting over there ?
@@PhillwithadoubleLthe Gold Coast, pickings are slim here. But we do have a few Cex however I think we get all your lots cast off’s lol.
@@Veniceredmask01 same region coding 🙌🏼
You do get some awesome releases down there. I’m always casting my eyes over stuff from Imprint and Umbrella. I have a handful of their release and I think they’re pretty great.
Guessing that importing anything to Oz is fairly expensive if you go that way.
@@PhillwithadoubleLpostage costs kill us down here. Umbrella are great however our version of hmv is jb Hi-Fi and very expensive
Rocketeer is my favorite.
It’s an absolute classic. Holds up pretty well too.
It’s one of the movies I still have the laserdisc for !
American Werewolf In London cex £12 amazon £9
If you can find it in a charity shop £1 😂
Some of the CEX prices are well out. Thinking the voucher for the trade in might get used on electronics over more movies. I’m not using that store credit to be rinsed further with over priced titles.
@@PhillwithadoubleL Even with tech they're not far off new prices, I sometimes buy old games in there but even those are comparable to top prices on ebay,
I had some luck in a charity shop a few days ago 10 dvd's for £1.50 and someone had took in their hong kong legends collection 👍
@@JungleJeffarnold woah, that’s a nice score. Even for dvd those Hong Kong legends can be costly
@@PhillwithadoubleL I looked at some prices seems Outlaw Brothers is the rarest cex want £12 for it I might take the £6 voucher after I watch it
I have seen the first Terrifier movie and it was OK I think I was let down because of all the hype surrounding the movie
That’s what worries me a little. They’ve been hyped up far too much. Want distance from that hype before I try to watch
The Terrifier movies i got on Google Play long ago for i think £1 each(ish).
Couldnt say no at the price since they arent anywhere else and the blurays are too expensive tbh
I had Paramount+ last year. They appeared on there but I never bothered. Should have really. I’ve seen them come up at £2 or £3 on iTunes before now.
Maybe one day but I still don’t feel in a rush to get them watched. Are they worth my time ?
@@PhillwithadoubleL
Didn't know they were there but tbh I've never paid for that. Refuse to pay for all the streamers lol.
Theyr alright, nothing amazing tbh.
Run of the mill slasher flicks using the gore to sell 🤷
A "switch your brain off and give it a watch" thing tbh
@@johnnycarrotheid I’ve never felt in a rush to watch them. Maybe if the trailer for the third one blows me away I’ll feel inclined to give them a go. At the moment, meh.
@@PhillwithadoubleL
Neither was I, literally saw them on Google play movies and I always have a few quid in my balance and that paid for them.
Yay for the free money from Google rewards for walking down the high street lol
So, there still are big stores full of physical releases of movies and games somewhere. So jealous right now .
3:44 correct, not interested . Yet, I did buy trilogy release some years ago for 4,99€ 😅 what can I say, I am horder who likes to complete his collection 👎
We’ve all done similar with our collections. I’m sure you’re not alone with that pick up.
At least the 4.99 wasn’t too bad price wise.
Weird thing is. I’ve only really seen the first instalment knocking around in the shops. Don’t see the sequels all that often 🤷🏼♂️
We’ve done quite well with HMV staying on the High Street. It very nearly went under a couple of times but thankfully it seems to be doing pretty well again now.
Were the sequels worse than the first movie, or so much better 🤔 or mayby just a small print of discs. Who knows, who cares!
Glad to hear there are still enough physical media buyers that some stores can keep selling movies and games even now days. Around here 🇫🇮 there are no big stores anymore, though, we have couple (famous) medium size stores, that sell (new and second hand) physical media and other stuff : Viiden Tähden Elokuvadivari aka Five Star Movie...?divari? .... ua-cam.com/video/54isAvKBi80/v-deo.htmlsi=4Wn6mUnLme3NNawh hopefully I get to visit that store one day.
Realy miss rental stores and BIG movie sections in supermarkets where you could just look around and try to find good titles/sales 😥
Local (finnish 🇫🇮coverart, subtitles) releases, we still have those time to time, but those are rare nowdays.
VS sale tomorrow.
Have you got your eye on anything ?
I'd rather bin my dvd collection or give it to charity, they take the PISS with their values
Nice finds! Maybe apart from Babylon - too much grotesque for me. Oppenheimer overrated so good choice not choosing it :D And if you like open worlds then you have to play Days Gone and Tsushima. Won't stand up to Red Dead but very good and immersive nonetheless. I'm glad you're becoming more selective - me too! But steelbooks are still my weakness. Keep up good work! I like long videos!
Didn’t want them getting addicted too early 😂
Video length, I tend to try not to over extend them too much. I like a bit of pace through the things (which is why my videos might seem a little choppy at times). I may go in for some longer ones though and take my time on some subjects in the future. As soon as my skills as an editor develop and I learn more about what to film to keep it ‘interesting’
