Pushing someone down the stairs actually kills them if their body moves slides far down enough. Useful for a silent assassin kills on a couple of levels, like the obscured kitchen stairway in A New Life.
Additionally, you didn't mention the air rifle which can be found in A New Life and loaded with tranquilizer darts found next to the ether in the pet clinic. Presumably the developers wanted you to use it from the tree house to knock out the dog, but you can also use it (or any other firearm) to shoot the glass above Ms. Sinistra when she's in the pool to kill her. If you take the air rifle home with you, it is added to the safehouse weapon list and can be used to knock people unconcious in other levels aswell- you can even shoot the Secretary in the Mardi Gras level and he'll fall unconcious but he doesn't die so the mission continues.

I like to think the chance of a weapon discharging as you disarm the target is them pulling the trigger as a last desperate attempt.
