We had poor service from Cherry after service. Did not bother to do software update (confermed by Cherry Hermanus after 1000km service) and had rattles on dash board where screen sits. Service guy knocked and wiggled screen and was ok for about 10km.
Service at Hermanus was not really friendly and service area dark and busy with all types of vehicle makes. No transport to mall or collect because had no driver. I walked with crutches to mall and back. Next service I will go to Cape Gate. Been to see workshop and VERY friendly people. Looks good to me so far.
When did you take your car for the service? The software was only officially released late Thursday afternoon. I've had an exact issue with transport with Hyundai Centurion. Had an Achilles nerve tendent issue at that time
Told that I needed a lift to and back from the dealer. They said driver on way and then 2hrs later no driver walked 4km and gave the service people and service manager a piece of my mind even though they promised to pick me up.
Why did you go for the 1000km service? Or did you perhaps mean the 5000km? Or was it 6 months after the car purchase? Hopefully, you'll get better service at Cape Gate. I heard Cape City is also brilliant. I'm not sure if it is the same dealer as I stay in PTA
Hi, does the software update take long to do? I mean do you need to book the car in for a day?
It takes about 10 min to load it. So give it about 20 min in total. Make sure to speak to the Dealer Principle, lots of the staff at some of dealerships are saying they don't know anything about it. An email was sent on THURSDAY informing all the dealers.
Intersting, CHERY Alberton told us that Chery South Africa decided not to roll this out in SA. And also that on the longer roads it will actually be worse than what we get now...
I had someone contact me on Thurday afternoon where Westrand and Cresta told the customer the same thing. Contacted head office and a few hours later they contacted me and said they got their car updated.
They are lying to you, they have to install it.
I had good authority from the director of CherySA Aftersales that it was rolled out on Thursday and is inviting all customers to come in for the update.
Just found out that the details have been sent to all the dealerships and all will install it. However the gentleman I spoke thinks that the person you spoke to wasn't aware of the email or notice. He is contacting them directly to assist you.
Thanks. I just spoke to them again, and they confirmed that I can bring my car in on Monday. Excited, but nervous at the same time!

So, I have not seen such a big difference as you have. First tank was actually one of my worst consumption records, but it is improving, and I gained about 0.4km/l. First time that I was able to go over 500km with a tank. Going from 11.8km/l to 12.2km/l...BUT, the car is WAY MORE SMOOTHER in ECO than before, which I am enjoying!!
Hey there. Great videos and excited about the software update. I have a question regarding the headlights of the tiggo 4 that I can't find any info on online. My headlights have a beam pattern thats a slight z shape but the left headlamp also seems to throw a little higher than the right. So there is a dimmer zone and a brighter zone on the road along with the z shape. I was told this was intentional to protect oncoming traffic but had multiple people comment that something doesn't look right. Is your beam pattern aligned in one straight line?
Hi. Not quite a straight line.
If you are sitting in the car and you have yours lights on a wall. You'll see the outer right, and the outer left is a little higher than the centre of the car. I have my lights set on 0 on the adjustment, so it shows the Rd very clear if people approach with low cars it kinda blinds them, but I rarely drive at night.

Currently I know Alberton and Westrand are 2 definite.
I note you run the car in sport mode. Have you tried the new program in eco mode
? I found the fuel economy better in eco mode, but am harassed by the sudden power surge on ACC
Busy currently running it in ECO MODE, will be posting a vid on Friday about the experience but I prefer to use SPORTS MODE for the power when you need it and in general it's more economical.

Yes, please I'd love to see the difference. I drive in Eco mode most of the time. Should I change?
So far, ECO MODE isn't better than SPORTS MODE.
just a little confused about the filling up method, is it better to fill to the brim (airlock mode and little little goes in, this can give you 10l extra at times or is it advisable to stop filling at first click? this obviously will impact the DTE but consumption should not be in any way affected, your thoughts on this?
I've always filled up as much as I can as I do lots of kilos and want to fill up as few times as possible and maximise between fill ups. After the first click, you'll get maybe an extra 4 to 5 litres.
How has your experience been with owning a cherry in terms of servicing at the dealers. Reliability of the car and faults etc. I’m seeing on hello Peter people complaining about the indicator lights blowing, battery failing repeatedly, chassis and engine issues and cars not being replaced if they are defected.
I've had my T4 for 2yrs today the 11th May. Was actually going to do a vid today about the 2yr mark.
So issues with car.....
1...the synthetic leather got a little tear in it, but Chery fixed it within 2 wks through a warranty claim.
2...the car has lots of good materials in it. Unfortunately, one or two bolts weren't tightened properly, all I did was tighten it, and it sorted it out.
3...reliability on the engine and car, I've done over 96000 km and never had a days issue and spend all my time in SPORTS MODE. At the 90k service was the first time I replaced the front brake pads and wipers. I'm still on the original tyres and will probably change them at around the 120k mark as there is still some tread left.
4...the brake bulbs aren't the best I've seen but I went o Chery after replacing them myself with the cheap ones from Autozone, which are terrible. Chery put 4 new WURTH bulbs in the rear and the bulbs are still good over a yr later.
5...as for the batteries, people forget that the cars are on a container ship coming from across the other side of the world. As for the fob batteries, people keep the key too close to the car and it continually communicates between the 2 and runs the batteries flat. I alternate between my 2 keys every couple of months and still have the original batteries from the factory.
6....there is no factory in SA yet. Chery want to build one here to make access of the cars and more parts easily available. Yes, there is a big warehouse in Boksburg and they have lots of stock, but they can only handle so many number of cars right now. And they planning on building 2 more warehouses, one in Durban and one in Cape Town.
7...as for fixing the cars by Chery, yes they have a warranty but they need to do admin work before anything can be fixed plus they need to check to see if it's a factory issue which would deem a warranty claim or if its caused by something else which would then validate an insurance claim by the customer.
( we had a lady who's sunroof got a hole in it, the glass shattered. But turns out a stone or an object hit the roof. Obviously that's an insurance claim and not a warranty claim )

I'm not sure if they did the update, as I am not really seeing any difference. Can you let me know the software version that you can see in settings. Not getting much above 10.4km/L. Car has done around 12000km. Thanks.
Unfortunately there is no way to check it except logging in through the OBD. what type of traffic do you drive in? You'll generally see a good difference on highways and open roads. Plus stick to SPORTS MODE in and around rural and town areas.
Thanks for the reply. My typical driving is town driving and rarely getting above 60km/hrs. I did do a long trip and managed 14.1/L but I drove like an old man which I am, hardly reaching a 100Km /hr. I will try your Sport mode suggestion but I find it difficult to get my head around it being better than ECO mode. I am currently getting 11.1Km/L on ECO mode.
Hi bald Chery, I managed to get the update done in PE. My problem is my AFC seems stuck on 11.0 km/L or 9.0 per 100km. I have travelled a 150km but it never changes. I think I have had a bad software update or something has gone wrong. I was wondering if you have heard of this problem elsewhere or you have a contact number of someone that can help?
It seems weird, but give it about another 200km. It recalibrate itself. You'll see as you drive, the trip goes up, and the DTE also goes up, and the AFC stays at the same for some time. It eventually settles and changes.

Hello, I am considering getting the 2024 T4 Elite, do you think this new software update will be available on the new model? or is it just for the 2022 models?
All the T4 ELITE TURBO CVT models from 2021 to the present models.
Just to get abit more clarity, the software update is just for the elite models only or let me rather say the turbo T4 and not the N/A versions?

The update can be done anytime on any km. You can go tomorrow if you want, it takes about 10min.

Hi. I had something similar, check your number if that's loose or like mine I found the bolts of the spoiler up top were a little loose.

I used double-sided tape, and it fixed my issue.
So why did the upgrade fix it? What does it charge?
It reprograms the CVT and makes it more efficient and economical. But only on the T4 ELITE TURBO CVT models. I mentioned it in the 1st vid.
What fuel tracking app do you use?
I use trip logbook from the play store. It's a purple logo with a man in white driving. It's very useful, gives all the details and logs your trips in private or business and you can pay R50 a ur to download a full report for taxes.

Can I suggest rather do MIDRAND, they offer an extra 2 yrs / 30000km on the Service plan. So the T4 ELITE moves from 5yr/60k to 7yrs/90k.

Pls speak to the Dealer Principle, every dealership received an email on Thursday about it. Some of the staff might not know about but the DP will know.
