For future reference, Deathtouch + Trample will allow the creature with Deathtouch to assign only 1 damage to the blocking creature and the rest to trample over. Trample only needs to assign lethal damage to a blocker before the rest of the damage goes to the player. So a trampler with Deathtouch will only need to assign 1 damage to a blocker before the rest tramples over.
And in case it's ever relevant because it'll come up eventually: If a deathtouch trampler attacks into an indestructible creature, only one damage needs to be assigned to the indestructible creature as it's still considered lethal damage.

A lot of rules misses during this gameplay but that's aright for a channel just getting started! 27:16 - Charlie's creatures should have got double the counters AFTER the initial 1+1 counter was placed on each creature, it does not in fact only double the ones placed on the creatures that turn as was suggested. "Put a 1 +1 counter on [each] creature you control, THEN, double the number of 1+1 counters on each creature that had counters put on it this way."
Psychic Frog is a reference to Psychatog, one of the grossest creatures in earlier Magic competitive history. It was used in Upheaval decks after bouncing everything to just eat your hand and graveyard and hit for lethal.
Did I miss something with Fangs of Kalonia around 27:22? It doubles all +1/+1 counters on the creature overall after it puts the +1/+1 on each creature. Right?? :O
Don’t get me wrong. This is the absolute best that Charlie is playing Magic! I love it! Everything is a learning opportunity in this game, especially when you start seeing interactions in gameplay. It is actually awesome to watch the journey of degenerate gaming unfold :D
The way it read is "double the number of counters on each creature that has a counter put on this way" Essentially if the spell gave a creature +1/+1 COUNTERS double it. If a creature has +1/+1 it's not the same thing.
Yeah your right basically Charlie's top two creatures should have 4 +1/+1 counters and the bottom creature should have 2 +1+1 counters. If your new keep in mine +1/+1 COUNTERS is NOT the same as +1/+1. As the latter is generally a temporary boost and the counters are basically attached to the creature until it dies or counters are removed.
I love all the missplays not because they're funny but because it reminds me of when I started playing magic and it makes me so nostalgic, great games anyway ❤
Game 2 youd be able to look through your library after declaring the amount you're sacrificing. Game 2 and 3 support says other creatures, so it can't pump itself. Also, saga goes directly after drawing. The way i remember everything is "phase, untap, upkeep, draw, saga, rad", or just "draw, saga" for this specific one.
Also should have killed drew since it also has trample. You do one damage to rhonas and the rest to drew since 1 damage is enough to kill rhonas, due to the deathtouch. Deathtouch and trample is an interesting interaction between keywords. Although, I read a comment that the graphic was wrong and it was a sylvan safekeeper instead of a nightshade druid
27:14 it doesn't only double the counter that we're put in them that turn. It says "double the +1/+1 counters of every creature that had a +1/+1 counter put on it this way." So the genku and dryad would have had 4 counters, and the mycospawn would have 2. Also, just realized that Charlie never created a token for his second dryad dying.
56:32 support says, "on each of up to 2 other target creatures" so the counter can't go on the Aerie Auxiliary. You would have to put them on both of the Dryads. And 2 2/3s with deathtouch is really quite strong. They can either trade with anything or just straight up survive most creatures with their beefy toughness.
1:15:15 this isn't because of a missed trigger or from the players misunderstanding the rules. Just something I feel is a bit stronger of a move than sac'ing him before combat, but mogg mob doesn't say that they have to be sac'd at sorcery speed, or that it needs to tap to be sac'd. So he could have swung with mogg mob and presented as though he was going to deal 8 damage. The defending player then has 3 options. 1.) Block the 1/1 and take 9 damage. Then the attacker can sacrifice the mogg mob to deal 3 damage directly to the defender. This even works if mogg mob was the blocked and they'll take a further 3 damage for 13. That's fatal. 2.) He can block the mogg mob. In which case the attacker sac's mogg mob and deals 3 damage to the defender and then the defender takes a further 7 damage. Leaving him at 1. 3.) He can block fury with with his 7/5 believing that they'll trade. Then the attacker sacrifices mogg mob to deal 2 of the 3 damage to the blocker and leaving it at 3 toughness and 1 damage to the defender. Then fury hits with the first strike portion of it's double strike to finish it off without taking any damage itself. Then the 1/1 hits. The defender has taken 2 damage and has lost a powerful blocker. Leaving them scrambling on each subsequent turn to block a 3/3 double striker as their life total dwindles. 3 Is the best case scenario for the defender of these because it buys them more turns, but it's still better for the attacker than than Leaving the 7/5 alive for future attacks. If the defender managed to play a blocker every turn after that then they could chump block the fury and beat the attacker down for 7 every turn. 20 life and 4 life aren't too dissimilar when one side can only get 1 damage through and the other can get 7.
