Thanks so much for this video. Very detailed and easy to follow. I own a 2008 C6 that I bought about 6 months ago and it has almost 50,000 miles on it so I'm about to do this to mine!
Thank you so much for this, Petr (and Fred). I tackled this job yesterday and your video walk-through was most helpful in preparing me for the process! I think I spent more time safely jacking up the car than I did on the job itself, frankly. As a note to others, yes, the fill plug is above the pan in the body of the passenger's side of the transmission. I was able to pump 5+ quarts into the pan before starting the engine, bringing the fluid up to 115ish degrees, and I then I added another half quart of fluid before it began trickling out of the "fluid level" plug. I used RedLine D6 ATF which this transmission LOVES. The shifts are butter smooth, even with quick shifts using the paddles. Thanks again.
Good to know, thank u, u too, sir. By the way, until today, I never found an answer..., what u say?: I've got a c6, it is supposed to go little more than 200 mph, unlike a Porsche (I got one too), if I drive the corvette faster than 120 mph, I am afraid for my life. Could be a stiffer suspension, and maybe higher tire pressure lead to a safer behaving of the car?, and than the big question, how do I get the suspension ready to assure a strait steering, or do I have to get another steering system as well. I live close to the autobahn, so that's really a problem to me. Thank u sir, in advance...
when you say you run through the gears to make sure there are no air pockets. Does it make a difference whether I just put it in R, D, N and leave my foot on the brake or do i have to let the wheels turn while on jack stands to get the fluid moving
Anyone know where the reverse light switch is located? My reverse lights don't come on when I put the C6 in reverse. Fuse is good, bulbs are good. I have the switch on hand, but can't locate it on the vehicle. Thanks!
it might help if you jack the front of the car up higher than the back of the car and let some of the fluid out of the filler plug? 😕 thanks nice video.
Thank you for this video but it doesn't show how to get the rubber filter seal out and put back in ,I don't know how to and having a bit of difficulty doing .
Question: at the point where more fluid was added was the engine still running, I think you mentioned getting the temp up to the highest temperature while taking off the fill plug and emptying out overflow? was the car running the whole time or did you turn it off?
Mine is an 05 base model. The GM filter part #-24208574. The other C6 video right next to yours also shows a longer tube for just a second. Could it be the parts change from 05- 08 ?
your model year is easier. all C5-C6-C7's have drive tubes with the transmission in the rear of the car directly attached to the rear end drive ring and pinion housing.
I like the video, but you did not show the fitting adapter used to fill the transmission. That is the important part. I have done this on a few Explorers with the sealed 5 speeds autos and the Mercedes 722.9 7 speed autos and they required a fitting for me to put the hose on and then pump the fluid in.
You'll are so wrong on the filling method,, the filling hole is located on the passenger side of the transmission ,, this transmissions have one hold to drain,, and one hole to refill,, 2 holes,,!the rest you did it like you suppose to do it,,
Service manual shows that automatic transmission fluid should be changed at 97,500 normal miles, not 50,000. Big difference and not necessary to do so early.
Funny we will lift the car high enough so that PETER can get under and QUOTE, we will remove the filter, 🤣🤣🤣 ok Peter doesn't sound like he's getting under there,🤣🤣🤣ok Boss 🤣🤣🤣

Now my question is (and sorry if it sounds stupid but...3rd gear in my 2005 automatic transmission doesn't engage,,,the million dollar question: can I just replace the third gear with a repair kit? Also is it necessary to take down the whole transmission to do the repair?
You may as well have it rebuilt. There's no band aid to it because to just fix that one problem will require the unit to be removed and torn down anyway. It wouldnt save you anything.
@@johngatsby1473 you are right...in order to fix that gear I have to tear down the transmission so...I'm gonna rebuild the whole thing..thanks for responding sir happy new year
@@panzerwaffen2873 sorry you are going through that issue...the transmission shops in my area have taken full advantage of the COVID stuff.... A rebuild runs $5k for many transmissions.... hopefully yours doesn't. Have a good new year man.

Thanks but do you have the same vidéo for corvette c5?
Didn't show how he got the three bolts in under the frame? Or how he put the fluid in underneath?
thanks, helped out alot
you are welcome….
Hi guys thank you so much for this video I live in England 🏴 do you which a good website I can buy the filter exactly like yours please?

How did you pull the seal that goes on the filter
Are you mike from breaking bad show? looks like it. Thanks for the video.

MrPMYSTER usually you keep the car running and at temp to check transmission fluid level.
The GM replacement filter has a short inlet tube. Did you take that
longer tube extension off the old filter and install it on the new
filter ?

Are you in louisiana?
THE FLUID LEVEL IS FULL WHEN FLUID BEGIN TO DRIP , NOT POURING OUT LIKE THE VIDEO SHOWN.
would you happen to have a video of removing and servicing the transmission pan and filter replacment for a 1980 C3 Corvette ?
your model year is easier. all C5-C6-C7's have drive tubes with the transmission in the rear of the car directly attached to the rear end drive ring and pinion housing.
a 1980 wIll have a TH350 if I'm not mistaken.
unless it's a big block then it will have a TH400 transmission

Yup!
Could you not drill the sump and when sump removed fit drain outlet
You would not be replacing the filter that way.
Just an observation. Wouldn't it be easier and less messy if you siphoned the tyranny fluid as much as possible through the drain plug ??
You didn't carefully blow out the cooler and lines. this is especially important on Z-51's.

Probably so people can be out of warranty.

put a dip stick and drain plug in gm damm
And where do you suggest they put the dipstick,in the trunk?
Because that's were it would be.
Cuantos litros lleva?
6.15 litros
