It is not too late to add plants to the side walls. a Few screws and hooks fixed to the walls and ceiling and then utilize creeping plants like vines, for example. It will look weird at the beginning, but will grow in and look amazing eventually.
You might need to add a piece of fruit from time to time to attract the fruit flies for the frogs, since the enclosure is so large it gives the flies room to escape the frogs.
WoW! within 48h of each other, both our main guy here, Petko u the guy, and Ants Canada, had their project finished, AND full of life... can it get much better now?
@@kaidenworrell7828 Nordic ants did what first? have different "pets" in 1 enclosure? i dont think so... did he finish his project, and have it full of life, within the last 48h? no he didnt... go simp somewhere else...
Actually, it just occurred to me that putting poisonous dart frogs in the junglearium might be a mistake because you really need to be careful with what kind of food they have access to in order to prevent them from becoming poisonous.
Hey Petko! I have a 200+ colony of mourning geckos and they escape constantly. They pretty much live feral in my house at this point. They've gotten into every enclosure, feeder bins, everywhere. I've found them in the oven, in towels getting out of the shower, I've even found them near frozen outside before. I've never found a dead one though, inside or outside their enclosure. These geckos are INSANELY hardy. I wouldn't worry one bit about something being wrong in the junglearium. Good luck!
For the sides, you can buy some type of mesh that troy goldberg uses and the plants will grow on it and make your side walls green without taking much space:))
Id recommend setting up feeding stations for tue frogs and geckos; place some over ripe fruit around the enclosure. Any flies left inside with be drawn to the fruit, the smaller/shyer frogs and geckos can then easily eat the flies. The fruit will eventually decompose and feed your clean up crew and plants.
Hi . You can still maximize side wall. You might want to put dried moss wall or foam with pot so there will be more plants 😊 What a nice junglearium you got there
once the mourning gecko's settle in they will become really quite vocal, and they have the sweetest little barks and chirps 😊 feed them up on powdered gecko diet ;)
Dear Petko, first of all congrats for this first big step to bring the Junglearium to full life! It is truly beautiful and amazing :))) Then, I'd like to point your attention to one little thing that concerns me a bit about it's population: I notice that "the handle" you use to open the Janglearium is basically...a HOLE! I don't have a clue if the gekos or the frogs are able to climb those panels, but since you blocked even the vents up there with finer mesh, I thought this could be a potential point of escape...so I decided to bring it to your attention, I hope this might be of any help, if needed :) That said, thanks a lot for your channel and your videos. Wish you all great 2024 and...cheers from Italy!
haha , sharp eye , didnt notice that , if there snakes , it will be gone in 60 sec , yea gecko will go thru that , animals can sense the holes , i presume it to be a air draft
A group of Congo dwarf clawed frog (Hymenochirus boettgeri), would be neat for the pool. Of course not African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis) to big and predatory. Maybe at some point a Junglearium live cam.
Happy New Year! My Mourning geckos seem to prefer Pangea food for some reason, they do also predate on the rolly pollies but not as much as they go for the gecko food. I tried several other brands, but so far, Pangea watermelon and breeding seem to be their favourites. I love how personable and interactive they are. The small gecko that passed looks a bit squished, so it's possible one of the larger ones tried to eat it (I dont see this behaviour often, but I feed them Pangea every other day)
Maybe you can have a fine netting suspended above the water surface? That’s what they have done over many of the pools in the jungle area of the terrariums in Gothenburg city.
Have you considered gorilla gluing coco coir panels to all your open walls. It would be sturdy and allow for plants to grow on it while still looking good when its bare. Also cheap. Your progress is amazing!
Only tne first day of the year and you've knocked it out of the park already Petko! I couldn't be more excited for you, honestly sat watching this with the biggest grin on my face. And the clip you caught of the frog calling, wow! To you, your wife, your daughter and all the creatures at the Dark Den, Happy New Year! 😁🎉
My friend….you would want some tall plants to make it a true Junglearium. It would provide both shade and protection for the animals; just like in the wild. As for the sides walls, you can add a mud mixture and nothing but moss. It would be great for the animals too. I hope this gives you some ideas
The mg's (mourning geckos) will probably not reproduce this way. They are parthenogenesis but they often need other mg's close to them to get the impulse to start laying eggs. In the junglearium they probably wont get close enough to eachother to start laying eggs.
Your junglearium looks awesome Petko! Listening and watching you add your first frogs and geckos so excitedly, made me happy for you. I hope the animals and plants continue to grow and thrive! 🙂✌🏼
I have mourning geckos babys that small might have hard time finding food/water in such a large set up. I'd recommend keeping them in a smaller terrarium for 6 to 12 months before putting them in the jungle vivarium
Happy New Year, Petko! What a great way to start the year! I was really surprised how much everyone explored during the time lapse! I'm sorry that you lost one of the geckos, but, these things happen. Thanks for sharing the big animal move!
It is amazing to see how far you have come over the past several years! The junglearium is quite beautiful and I love the new inhabitants! The frogs always were my favorites 😍😍🐸
The jungalarium could be fed with fruitflies by putting banapieces (put in empty beetlejelly cups) and just a lot of friutflies nearby to lay eggs in before being eaten themselves. After like 10 days babies should be hatching regularly. Could be done before holidays, but must be planned and should be tried on beforehand. I saw a zoo doing it once
What a start of a new year, Petko ! All the best to you and your little family. Your little girl will have to watch a lot in your marvellous junglearium.
the sides always bothered me with how they look out of place, theres some really realistic background designs you can get out there to cover those sides i think serpadesign made a video on them. also you can potentially build moss walls to cover the sides, anything would be better really lol
Hello dark den, the same philodendron gloriosum dark forms, (yes, this is exactly the dark form of this plant), which you transplanted instead of Alocasia zebrina, will also soon become very large, so keep this in mind! =)
I would use some coco fiber panels and attach them to the sides and the back. That way the plants can grow up the sides and you should be able to attach them mechanically so it would be safe for the animals.
Way to go and happy new year Petko!!! I’ve been watching for so many years and I’m so happy for you and the new junglearium! It’s so exciting to see this finally!
been following since you installed the blocks for the height, glad to see it growing. did you happen to see that antscanada has made a 1000G paludarium? you're not the largest on youtube anymore; gonna have to build a bigger one!
I’m so glad I found this channel a couple of years ago and even more happy to have been following the progress of the junglearium…I love watching the “jungle” floor brimming with life. Well done, Petko!
I'm so happy to see the animals thrive in there, but it warms my little heart so much to see how well the plants are doing! Even the velvet anthurium that was struggling a bit at the beginning. Have a great new year and looking forward to season 5
Happy new year, Petko! :-) Also, congratulations on adding more animals to the junglearium. It's such a huge, amazing installation that can keep your eyes busy for a long time. When you're bored, you just have to sit in front of it and enjoy all the different plants, animals, sections and colours. There's not a single spot that looks identical to another spot... just like nature. It really is a very natural, realistic habitat. Wonderful work!!! I wish you lots of fun with it.
They're SO cute! I'd be having a hard time pulling myself away from them all. You could definitely get lost just sitting and watching them. I can't wait til they grow up a bit.
Im keeping lepidodactylus lugubris since 2019 and sold over 120 babys and I never had dead baby like that. Still I lost a few cause the somehow managed to escape and cooked themselve under the light (outside of the terra). The little geckos tend to munch on plants and lick everything. Could be that that little fella had an alergic reaction to one of your plants or animals. Also their spine at the upper neckpart is a bit fragile in the first few weeks, thererfor it could be broken bone. Dark spots on the Neck would indicate that. Additionaly Im a bit suprised that they are so slow. Most of the time my gecko babys are insanly fast and tend to teleport. Maybe they were to cooled down. Add: Babys of this specias tend to not drink from ponds or still water cups even when they are near to death. I noticed that very young ones only drink the water droplets on the plants after misting. I hope some of my Infos could help you. Have fun with this amazing project! Happy New Year!
Looks amazing! just one concern you are not supposed too mix different species of dart frogs together, It creates hybrids and ruins the bloodline. Also they will get territorial with each other and will fight to the death.
For bulb plants like the one you pulled out you can simply cut the roots off and repot it or re root it fast with rooting hormones or willow tree water. Anyways it’s very healthy it even has a pup
Congratulations on the addition of animals to your junglearium. Would you consider adding a slug? Happy New Year, wishing you health and happiness in 2024!
The pattern on the last one among the first set was amazing…they are beautiful but that really caught my eye. Nature as art. I do love frogs! Have done since I was a child.
Regarding the gecko that died. I think a few of them looked really tiny and seemed to be a little bit on the skinny side. I have a very hard time believing that it was your fault or something you could control, and I personally wouldn't have sold any mourning geckos at the size that smallest ones were since young ones are more susceptible to any stress or damage from the transportation. It warms my dart frog loving heart to see the junglearium coming to life like this!
You could glue coco matt on the wall and put clinbing plants like philodendron there. Or a wire mesh and spaghnummoss behind, so the roots can grab inside.
***SUGGESTION*** regarding plants on the side walls. Along the way you can place hooks or something along those lines for the vine type plants to have a place to hold on to and spread themselves about. Thanks
I have very much enjoyed watching you bring the junglearium to life. It's been fascinating watching all that went into the construction and now to see the animals being added. You did a fantastic job on this. It's absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to see everyone get comfortable and start bringing in new life. Thank you for being us along for this journey, it's been fun.

Idea for the Water, you could put a really Thin Rubber Mash like 1 or 2 cm Below the Surface, if you dont plan to add animals in that use both land and water, that should be a ez fix if there will be problems with them drowning. Awesome to see that Projekt coming to the next level

You should have a 24/7 livestream from inside the enclosure so we can watch the animal activity whenever we feel like it
Agree so much with this. I'd LOVE to be able to watch the junglearium any time.
That would be amazing!!
100% agree
Great idea! I would definitely watch this!

No not really, nobodies ever been able to recreate dart frog toxicity in captivity.
Happy New Year my friend! It's grown in so well! I really enjoyed the time-lapse and watching them all hop around.
Dark Den Season 17: Introducing a jaguar to my junglearium

As far as i know.

up to this petko

Really brilliant… I was very interested in the timelapse because it appeared that one of the frogs swam across the pool…
Finally!
Truly felt happiness along with you as I’ve been watching you put this together. Happy New Year brother!
This is incredible to watch! You did it! It’s beautiful, and I love seeing it teeming with life!
You could make a moss/cork wall where the big plant was, and hang plants etc to it
