It's worth noting that the Aurora LN is capable of equipping 2x S1 + 2x S2 weapons, as opposed to the 4x S1 loadouts of the other variants. This is the primary advantage the LN has as a combat variant.
The DPS increase is minimal, and because Auroras will generally be used by newer pilots, they're probably still better off using 4x s1 on gimbals.

@@CyrusKazan The LN is my pledge ship and I feel it needs to be a little more capable as the light fighter it is sold as. I think it should have the option to go 4xS2 fixed.
@@Jac70 Now that missiles are a fairly solid offensive option, I feel like the large missile rack is enough. But I also think the difference between different sized guns should be larger. The fact that small guns are only marginally weaker than larger ones is one of the main reasons light fighters are so obscenely overpowered at the moment.
It also has a S4 missile pylon, which is larger than ANY other small fighter ship in the game except for a bomber.
The MR was my first ship ever, still have to go back and fly it sometimes… there’s just something about an Aurora

Such ship comparison videos are really useful. There are a lot of review videos out there for individual ships, but you have to figure out bits and pieces yourself if you want to choose a specific ship from the lineup.

Another great video, I could watch all day. CIG spending this amount of effort on such a small relatively insignificant ship makes me think that 1.0 new players will be spending more time in one of these ships than we currently do in the alpha phase. That the alpha is accelerated so that bigger ships and advanced gameplay loops get more testing. Kinda looking forward to a slower start.

Missed something important about the Aurora LX it comes with a jump drive preinstalled as well. That’s why I selected it over the LN when they offered a $5 upgrade for kickstarters.
It is a great little ship. Also the best ship for conga line jumptown because the conga doesn’t last forever. The Aurora can’t hold that many boxes so you are forced to actually bank your gains. I’ve seen too many friendly A2s inbound.
Well it doesn't currently have any jump drive! But yes, possibly another reason they might be different in the future
With the increase in server caps coming up soon, having a ship you can store and spawn at size 1 pads will be a huge help. But I still say grab the cheap one.
The bigger caps could make for some very interesting scenarios!
Aurora's aren't size 1 and cannot be spawned at vehicle pads. You'd need an Origin 100 series, M50, or MISC Razor.
@@CyrusKazan Kinda. Auroras are Size 1, but for some reason CIG have a second size rating too.
Auroras are Size 1 'Small'.
While ships that can spawn on ground vehicle pads are Size 1 'Extra Small'.

All those saying to not start with the aurora, this little ship can go all the way up to VHRT if fitted with 2 extra laser repeaters (which can be done quite cheaply and fast). That should give anyone the kickstart to other ships
Other combat ships are better, but that doesn't mean the Aurora is bad. Great point, I agree with you!
It was nice to see the comparison of the four (4) models. I guessed ,but never really knew the specs for the four ships.

I've used the Aurora a few times as a snub craft with the C2, I have to say it adds more options to the diverse situations within the verse. And of course, its always offers piece of mind knowing you have a life raft with a quantum drive and guns.
Snub with a bed is always good too!
The Aurora that came with my game package in 2016 was pretty useless, but it's an effective little ship now. Also, it reminds me of the Eagle transports in Space: 1999.
The Auroras also reminded me of the old B/W Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers serials : )

I think the ES is a total waste. Because you have to buy a game package which comes with the MR i believe, so literally every player already has a better Aurora than the ES.
I think the starter gamepackage should be an ES.

True, though occasionally CIG offer the LTI ES as a referral reward instead of the Dragonfly during referral months.
I got my ES, and upgraded to an LN, cos I like the Aurora aesthetic.

ES- best "second ship", affordable for new players who want something other than their starter. Not recommended for aurora owners.
CL- First early game drug runner/smuggler, it has a stealth profile that is almost identical to the eclipse. Seriously, look it up. This ship is near invisible, even if it gets outclassed down the road.
LX- The "Pathfinder" variant, good if you don't like the Mustang Beta or want to jump the 'verse on a budget, which may warrant a purchase.
MR- Gimballed fighter, use the speed and auto aim to your advantage. However, the higher speed can be a disadvantage planetside because it's low aerodynamics become more pronounced and unwieldy. Works wonders in space though
LN- Fixed weapon fighter, highest DPS with 2 size 2 weaps making it on-par with Mustang -with- a size 4 missile rack on top. However, Mustang is gimballed so the missile makes the difference against larger opponents. A very good ship and where I think most Aurora fans will gravitate towards.
This was a great video and I hope you do so with the other ships with multiple variants. I backed in 2014 with the Aurora and immediately upgraded to the LN so this holds a special place in my heart.

I always grab an Aurora ES in game for 133kish auec. Its a great disposable backup "grocery getter" ship that i upgrade with the mid/good components from my other ships when I upgrade those. I also enjoy the underdog feeling when doing some random pve bounties. Great ship! An Aurora is all you need to get started in SC.

An now you know ... I had no idea about all the models (5). Nice thing is that they spawn super fast (40 seconds), so worth having around for a quick hopper

You know what they should do? at least for Pledge Aurora? Customization. Like they did with the 300i series. But even better, let you choose aspects of it, like cargo capacity and hardpoints. Or even a stealth setup. I can't seem to find a place to sell smuggled goods in big order, so a little cargo with stealthy and quick ship would be awesome. I need to check the signatures, maybe there is a place for an Aurora in my hangar...
Mabe an Irisch coffee in the mug, but only had scotch whiskey. Was horrible, you really need Irisch whiskey or at least a good burbon. Gave a pretty buzz, though August I'll start as branch manager. It's scary, thrilling and somewhat crazy. It's constantly on my mind so thank you and other creators to take my mind of that once in a while.
Would be really cool if there was something like that, although I get the feeling it's more effort than it's worth... Haha such a shame. What is the branch manager job of?
@@Farrister It started with the job at the bewerage store "Hol'ab!" ("pick up!" when translated to the letter). There are over 500 Hol'ab! stores in Germany. The manager of my store is quitting, it was too stressful for her. And she sugested me for the position. The other two elegible employees didn't want to: one doesn't like the responsibility and the other one is the the mother of my Goddaughter and only works 35 hrs/week. They and the Regional manager all agreed, that I'm fit for the position. so starting next month, I'll be manager of this branch.
I Always call this job unfortunate, but I really like it. We have another branch here in my city, but a lot of customers moved from the other to my branch, because we are friendlier. The district manager says that this is because of me. I work hard and I'm good with people. It just went really fast, I started there on October last year. From employee with no job title to manager... Life's stressful but good! also I ordered another mug. Got to have two, one for each workspace.
I love the Aurora CL. It was my first ship and perfect for package runs since I suck at pvp.

I'm partial to the LX. The extra fuel will be useful whatever you do and having bigger missiles is nice too.
LN isn't far behind though. Even more missiles and the option to upsize 2 guns to size 2 gives options even if at the current time it's not useful by the least.
I don't think bad of any of the Auroras though. CL is supposed to have stronger thrusters to assist when loaded and MR is a good basic combat ship.
The ES is lacking a little in purpose. It's more or less a MR with lower grade base components but it's cheap. I don't know why anyone would buy one though, aside for being a completionist.
To be honest, I hadn't even remembered about the S2 on the LN, completely slipped my mind making this one!
I went with an ES for a backup to my Mustang. It's cheap, upgradeable and has a bed.
LOVE my LitL Arora, best ship in the game have not moved on since I started 3 years ago with a MR and upgrading last year getting a LN. Just wish the wings would come out to make atmospheric flying more stable.

Personal choices are important, that's one of the things I love about Star Citizen!
I noticed that the MR starter ship has no storage compared to the other ship's 3 - 6 SCU cargo space. I'm curious, is that internal ship storage? Or external ship storage for cargo boxes like a 1 or 2 SCU cargo box?
It's "cargo grid" storage (what you can buy/sell at consoles), and it seems like a temporary bug rather than a design choice. There's room inside for placing delivery crates

Looking to replace my eagle with one of these ships, it wont be my main ship i use as i will also at some point be buying a andromeda but i woundering what would be good to buy for a replacement to me it sounded like the es you can build it to any thing you want because of it basicly being a ballanced frame is this correct?

Not going to lie: In my 8+ years of following the project I've never seen anyone buying an Aurora ES. And... contrary to the MR and up, adding a package to the ES is not really an option. It certainly is refreshing having you referencing it. However, I fear, the LN will remain the only useful variant of all the Auroras as per its much improved hardpoint setup over the rest of the line-up... - unless CIG allows more actual modularity betwern all craft of the line including hardpoints.
I think the one redeeming feature of the ES is how cheap it is. People who pledge for just the ES and a game package, are probably amongst those who get the best value for the game.
The Aurora ES is great if you just need an additional small ship to buy ingame.
Think there are enough players only having one cutlass or bigger ship.
And for all these players i recommend buying a Aurora ES ingame to have an additional ship.

I recently started playing with a Cutter and got an ingame Aurpra ES as a backup. That way I dont have to claim my Cutter when I die on a surface and loose all my loot stored in my Cutter. I simply spawn the ES, fly to where was and retrieve my Cutter.
Sure something like this may not be possible when the game is finished but it may have other uses then.
From what I heard there are plans to boxes that allow you to attatch a small ship to the Cargogrid of the Hull series. So you could take the ES attach it to your Hull C/D and while you wait for it to be loaded with cargo grab the ES and travel to the planets surface. When your Hauler is done you just re-attatch the ES and continue your cargo run with your Hull.
Auroras are nice ships if you need a cheap one.
The ES is a good ship to buy ingame because it's so cheap.
But i prefer the 125. Looks better. Has a better cabine. More fuel. And can be spawned at outposts. To bad that it's overpriced.
I'd love the 100 series so much more if the price was just lower! I find it difficult to justify the difference to the 300 series

I really want to like the 100i, but struggle with it so much compared to the 300i
Answer to you're question in the end: None, fork out the extra 10-30 bucks and get your self a Titan which is more capable in combat and Cargo missions

The Aurora is actually more capable in combat than the Avenger Titan.

@@dbeerewout All weapons from sizes 1-4 have the same range, within their certain type. All repeaters have the same range, and so do the cannons.
The Aurora has higher sustained DPS with 2xS1 + 2xS2 repeaters than the Titan has with 2xS3 + 1xS4 repeaters.
The Aurora has the same number of S1 shields as the Titan, and only 500 less body and nose HP. The Aurora also has slightly better armor. The cross section of the Aurora is half of that of the Titan, which means that the Aurora is infinitely more difficult to hit. EM and IR are also lower.
In a fight, the Aurora has a significant edge in turn rate (50/50/156 deg/s vs 46/43/162 deg/s). She also has the same missile load out.
To summarize, the Titan is a larger, less maneuverable ship with equal or less firepower, and marginally more health. When you consider that an Aurora has a lower claims time, lower operating costs, and only costs half of what an Avenger Titan does, it doesn’t make much sense to upgrade.

Answer, none of them. Do yourself a favour and get another starter. I recommend the Avenger Titan, at the least. Or the Normad, at the most.

The Aurora is stronger in combat than the Avenger Titan, has interior space, a bed, and a lower claim time. There's no reason to pay double for what is, in many ways, an inferior ship.

Really? I think the Aurora is good. Not the best at anything, but not bad. And the Avenger is great, but also more expensive...
I've never been a fan of the Aurora lineup. To me they're akin to space VW Beetles; reliable, hardy and competent - but nothing more. They are great for those who want to hardcore role play as plucky 'come from nothin' adventurers. I did pick up several ES models years ago... as cheap LTI tokens. My starter is the stealthier, more comfortable, more broadly capable - and oft overlooked 315P.
That's fair enough! There are many, many, many better ships out there (I love the 315P too!), but equally the Aurora is a very capable starter!
