So video that was obviously gonna come, timestamps and all that for those that wanna skip around. VF6, sorta a big deal and yet we know almost nothing about it, so lets talk about what my hopes and dreams for the game are because I am kinda INSANELY HYPE FOR IT. Basically long story is keep VF what it is at its core, but don't be afraid to make changes along the way. Give a watch and when you are done id love to hear your thoughts on what you think VF6 should be from both the old timers, and the people that are new to the franchise as well!
Now that DOA is on hiatus, let some of their characters get a second life just like how DOA5LR had Sarah, Jackie, Pai, and Akira. Ayane, Hayabusa, Kasumi, and Tina 🙏
Staggers, you have to do a full three sixty rotation to break them. I found that works best and it's a video on youtube as it. Virgil fighter has always had on the characters. Itself a Taki, because of Lack of technology to make him work, but you can have every character. And give them a great deal of new moves and still make the game work. That's what makes virtual fighters so unique.Roofle monger man, you bombing in this video. You can add two new characters to this game with different fighter styles, and then we'll work 2 character and they always brought at least two characters in every numbered series and maybe we older virtual fighters, players are disco. Fashion but we mean of fighting. It is a pure game. I wonder how combat would we'll look good. The closest as simulated Which does the realism better than any fighting game to? Date I don't know any ones is better. Maybe the snk title. And a few others
For the hitbox and weight issue, they should totally steal from the greatest indie fighting game ever made... Skul... or rather, Them's Fighting Herds. There's no weight at all in that game for the purposes of juggles, and also once a combo starts, the victim's hurtbox becomes a square.
VF is already a fast game, I don't know what you're talking about. Most rounds are lucky to end outside of 20 seconds between two players who know how to play the game.
@@ryuno2097 Tekken 8 isn't a fast game, the heat mechanic makes it seem like the pace of the game is quick, but Tekken essentially follows the same principle as all those that came before it - don't be the first guy to hit the wrong button in neutral and lose the entire round. It's more chaos now with the heat system in that you no longer have to perfectly time and position yourself to outsmart your opponent with the first counter hit and/or launcher. Tekken is still not a fast game unless you want your arse to be handed to you quickly, although I would concede it is a more aggressive game than Tekken 7 was, which was too defensively orientated i.e. not plus enough on block and too much pushback. It felt almost impossible to play that game aggressively.
Yeah I am totally down for interactable open world like stages. However I hope the stage interactions and destruction is built into the gameplay and not like a cut scene. Cut scene's in fighting games suck. Not sure when that became trendy, but it needs to become untrendy as soon as possible
meh, Gordo and Dee Jay cover the Capoeira type pretty well as it is. I'd like to see an Indian character that uses Kalari Payattu, that would fit in super well with VF. Also for Africa they could have a character that fights Dambe. Dambe is sort of like a one punch knock out boxing style they do in Nigeria
I only got to play 1 night of the beta due to the hack sorta being priority 1 to me, you may notice my (sloppy)taka play, it may surprise you to learn that I am no Taka player! But going into Revo my idea is now instead of my usual characters im gonna branch out and try all sorts of chars cause realistically its the "last chance" to really do so cause once vf6 arrives, well vf5 is already 20 years old at that point. So Taka is priority #1 to learn since im "sumo guy of the fgc" these days so might as well lean into it, but also gonna go weird with it and try to learn other chars like Sarah and Shun-Di. Revo the last big hurrah for VF5 so lets go nuts with it
That’s basically me I used to play with Sakura heavy back in the old days and she was my main in sf4 😪 had to start fresh in VI since I don’t want to use a shoto like ryu and Ken 😅
I very much agree with this. VF6 needs as much hype as possible. I lowkey want to see Fighters Megamix-lite when it comes to new characters. Visit SOR, visit Shenmue, visit Yakusa.
More than anything I just want the next VF to have all characters actively parrying & dodging when you're holding block like a choregraphed kung fu movie. I understand that's an incredible undertaking when you factor in all the characters vs each other is a ton of possibilities but it'll happen someday. The little clip they showed essentially gave us that.
The stuff I hear about Virtua Fighter tells me that it's ahead of its time. Quest mode, Pro player AI, the gameplay mechanics in general. I hope VF6 will be able to pull of what they're showing here, and I hope to see either Kiryu, Majima, or Ichiban as playable guest characters for it too! ^^
I like the idea of them 'doing a Tekken 3' with VF6- new chars replacing old ones, moves from departing characters distributed among remainers or consolidated into newcomers. VF6 really needs to feel fresh and exciting to make an impact after such a long wait, and everything they're doing so far seems to reflect that.
I’d rather they pull a Killer Instinct 2013. Completely reboot the lore and keep the original cast but with extensive redesigns while also adding newcomers as well.
There are some lore elements this could lean into. Lau succumbing to his illness, shun-di's student, targets of J6 being assassinated. Like Tekken 3 you could have a new generation of characters out for revenge or to honor their mentors and relatives in a new vf tournament.
@@oneyeseesin3D I feel like Tekken 3 and Street Fighter VI, and arguably Garou were the only games that managed to pull off the “New Generation” angle right. It worked for Tekken because the cast wasn’t fully established at that point and they kept the right amount of veterans while the legacy characters were cooler than the characters they replaced. SF6 had the original iconic SF2 cast but aged up, and each of the newcomers had very interesting designs.
DOA7 will come some day without ANY DOUBT! But what about Fighting Vipers 3, Last Bronx 2 or Tobal No. 3? Would love a 3rd Tobal but on the other hand we lost Akira Toriyama some months ago... 😞
I agree with everything you said. Single player will be a very important aspect. I'm so glad RGG works on this game. As somebody, who played almost every RGG game, I am so pumped for the characters and storytelling. The combination of the old team (Sega AM2) and RGG is amazing, because (hopefully) they will both thrive with their strengths.
I hope it stays a “3 button” game. No long super animations and I hope they add some cool new characters that represent martial arts styles we haven’t seen in VF yet
Perspective from a new player who tried the REVO beta (and really enjoyed it): While I like the idea of a "simple" 3 button scheme, in practice I'm not sure it actually simplifies all that much, nor does it make things easier. It really makes notation harder to read, since there's still a ton of moves, but very few buttons. Everything looks more similar at a glance. Personally, I don't find combining a P or K with G to be intuitive at all, except for buffering a throw break. Using G as part of an attack input doesn't make logical sense. The optimal (for most people anyway) way to setup controls is to bind combinations to different buttons anyway, effectively just making it a 6 button game like Tekken is when you bind 1+2 and 3+4. It doesn't really matter much in the end, but I don't see it as an obvious plus personally. I fully agree with not having supers or overbearing meter mechanics though. Tekken 7 already straddled the line there, and Tekken 8 crossed it. This game seems too fast and read based for it to make sense anyway. I could see some sort of subtle resource mechanic working, but nothing more than that. There's too many interactions at high speed for one read or block to be rewarded much more than it already is. They could just rebalance the core mechanics to facilitate that if they really wanted to.
@@Sir_Robin_of_Camelot edit: whoops, misread the comment and completely missed the point. Yes, I do use a keybind for throw button rather than pressing both P+G due to my keybind setup. Also agree that using buttons for combination of button presses feels easier, at least with my keybind setup. You have a point with using G as part of an attack being strange, since G stands for guard. However, I don't exactly see what can be done, except have Guard button just be guard and have a separate button for doing P+K or K+G (except not K + G, will be the K + button). I'm not really on board with changing button mechanics too much, it seems like it'll be a scary change haha
I currently don't have a fightstick, on which it wouldn't be a problem, but without macros turning it effectively into a 7-button game, the VF5REVO beta would've been unplayable for me on gamepad, and I suspect I'll play it as such with a fightstick, too. More to the point, I desperately want back VF3's 4-button controls (8-button with macros, I guess), just refined, as having to work around crouch to sidestep was highly annoying. But yes, no supers or anything else 'anime'-esque.
I grew up with only Tekken and Soul Calibur, so I know about Virtua Fighter only because I've followed you for years. That being said, you've been making great videos about VF, all of which I've watched, so at this point, I am super hyped for VF6 myself! I'm also gonna get Revo so I can start my VF journey a little bit faster! Thank you for introducing me to this franchise!
I'm an old timer, but never played VF. I hope it has a cool single player mode. Most importantly, I'd really like a story. The attention given to story was what won me over to the SNK side of the debate way back in the 90ies. And I hope it's not a damn silly story like Tekken.
For guest Characters outside the obvious (Ryo and Like a Dragon Characters), I’d like for them to return the favor with DOA and add some guest characters to the base roster
The tutorials in REVO are actually pretty damn cool. Teaching the macro and micro mechanics off rip is quite nice. My expectation is they keep the tutorials just as strong, if not even more detailed. It’s nice that if I want to learn the niche of a game once I’m skilled enough I’m not forced to have to look up the “hidden techs”.
A larger roster will always be my main wish for virtua fighter, because I'm a huge martial arts fan and while you can expect some martial arts love in tekken from time to time in their newcomers (the 3 dlc newbies in 7 were great), virtua fighter is kindda all about expanding on different reps, so hopefully we get some obvious picks like box, kickbox, taekwondo, jujitsu for vf6, but I'm hoping we also get some schools of kenpo, silat and sambo
I played virtua fighter for the first time yesterday showdown version against the same guy for 2 hours. So fun man why was this gone for 20 years from the mainstream
My main wish for VF6 is more accessible / lenient inputs. I am not an execution monster, and that aspect of VF is the single aspect of it keeping me having doubts about going full-time on the series. Secondly, destructible stages like never before. I want to explode walls using my opponent as the tool, just like Akira in the trailer. About guest characters, bring SEGA characters: Yakuza's Kiriyu, and Majima, Streets of Rage's Axel, Adam, Blaze and Shiva, Shinobi's Joe Mussashi, Fighting Viper's Bahn and Candy. And for last, but no less important: Totally agree with Rooflemonger, be more realistic about female fighter. Enough with skinny, model like female fighters like Tekken and DOA, bring realistic fighter ladies with muscles like those female boxers, Muay Thai and MMA fighters. Even the smaller females like Eileen needs some muscles.
I don't really know a whole lot about VF, but I played VF4 with my dad quite a bit when I was young and just button mashing, and he passed in April of 2023, so I will be giving VF6 a try out of respect for good memories. I'm a Tekken player and I like 8 quite a bit but I will still give VF a try.
As stages evolve i think we could have a mix of things here like tekken where some walls explode, some walls break... we could hav open stages in VF with walls... some stages like rooftops and stuff with ringouts, some have walls on one side and ring outs on another, and maybe some walls are breakable and lead into other stages... when it comes to "quest mode" or singleplayer stuff i would love some SF6 World Tour stuff
This may be milking Virtua Fighter but I’d only be mad if this were another UA-camr, but on top of that we need more people on tracks also, EVERYBODY WAS VIRTUA FIGHTING
Can't wait for VF6! This is such a beautiful IP. I have SO MUCH FUN with VF since the very first one. I even bought me a SEGA Lindbergh, so i can play the arcade exclusive VF5R at home. 🥰
I think a important part of the VF spirit is the different martial arts styles. Would be really cool to see capoeira, taekwondo, traditional boxing, taidō, bartitsu, kendo, or lethwei, make the cut this time. No magic powers and guns please.
@maegnificant I guess Sarah uses certain elements taekwondo along with savate, etc. But she's not a complete taekwondo character like Baek/Hwoarang/Kim/Juri.
Don't forget Virtua Fighter 6 also NEEDS the return of Instant Replay not just for online or offline modes but for every occasion on every round because without it you would never consider Virtua fighter to be a true 3D fighter at all. and Tekken7/8 along with Dead or Alive 5/6 have imperfectively killed it's aspect of what makes those two games actually 3D. except for Soul Calibur 6 it did a fine job bringing it back despite the short time it had before and after.
Another thing i really need to add up sega is not astounding me with their redesign logo of Virtua Fighter by just calling it "virtua fighter virtua fighter". so i don't know if they could change back to it's ORIGINAL form or this could be the new modern bullshit. Capcom had such a grotesque issue their Street Fighter 6 logo until it look only a bit better by comparison.
Here's my idea: downloadable ghost players. Make it so vf6 automatically tracks your fighting habits, especially when playing online, and creates a cpu profile who plays like you. Then make it so anyone can download your profile to their vf6 game so they can fight a cpu copy who plays like you offline, in any mode. It would be great for those who aren't sweaty online warriors or tournament goers, but still want a chance to see what it feels like to play good players. Wanna run your own solo tournament with a ghost chibita and homestay akira? You can do that. Or maybe your childhood friend who loves vf has time schedule conflicts, so you can't find time to get together for long sets. Now you can download his data and sorta go against him anytime you wish.
@@chibu3212 I guess they did add that, huh? I forgot. Tekken 8 obviously has it, but the first game I can think of having them is actually Samsho 7, though they didn't work particularly well.
Let's just hope the "competitive legal stage" sentiments don't get as extreme as what happened with the _Super Smash Bros._ series. _Smash Ultimate_ comes in with over 100 classic and brand-new stages, and yet the competitive side always goes to the *exact same FIVE choices?* (And that's me _still_ being generous, because most Smash tournaments devolve into hours-long marathons of "Battlefield" and "Smashville"...) 😑
I feel like Kiryu in VF is kind of a no brainer. Would love to see Saejima somewhere down the line too. I think Majima or Ichiban would be better fits for Tekken. An Ichiban rage art where he imagines the opponent as a drunkard in trash can armor then goes ham with the baseball bat and german suplexes would fill me with joy.
Honestly i can definitely see ichiban in tekken cause sega will probably want to keep kiryu and majima for VF for publicity's sake The good news is unlike clive, ichiban is a beloved character of the rgg fanbase so at least they won't have any issue with it
I played a few hours of the beta, I really sucked at it and I am super pumped to actually get to an intermediate level with it because I can see how fun it would be just from my short playtime
Yeah you can definitely tell, unfortunately a few hours of a beta just doesn't let you reach the level of mastery necessary to get the "full" experience that you get at intermediate level or higher. I feel the same way.
Good to see your mug again! I'm a recent joiner of the fighting games franchise (sf6) and have been a follower of yours after being blown away by your content and caliber of work. I'm an engineer by day and gamer by night. You are a talented creator, Sir, I hope you continue!
Definitely need boxing, Capoeira, and Sambo. Vanessa hits a bit of the MMA feel, but something more dedicated to the typical MMA mix of things could be cool. And yeah, I like how Strive uses stagger and size/weight. They're there but not critical and can matter but usually not turning around a match. Also, I hope they have a mix of big rings, like sumo, wrestling, etc. And I hope they do go crazy with walls and breakables. I want a dojo where a solid corner combo causes you to break through a wall or door to another room and you get that vibe of brawling through a dojo that gets wrecked over time. Also, we need actual, dynamic, bouncy ropes for an El Blaze stage.
I’d love to see those 3 styles. I also would add a true Taekwando practitioner like Hwoarang and Rig. Unless that’s Sarah and they need to add that to her style instead of just being Martial arts.
@JuJusCornerr they have so many kicking characters, that it would help distinguish a hair, but you'd have to either update someone or replace with a new character, for sure
I’d prefer they introduce martial arts that haven’t already been adapted into the genre before. A Silat, Lethwei, Kalaripayattu, Dambe, or Taekkyeon fighter would go hard.
@@chibu3212 I could see that. They clearly like to pick some less common options. Silat is getting a pretty notable world presence of late and would be really interesting to see.
I pray to the Sega gods that they don't exclude Brad from the VF6 roster. While looks wise he might not be as interesting as Goh, his take of Muay Thai mixed with boxing weaves and ducks is so interesting and unique. Fingers crossed 🤞
Please, no rage arts. Please, no rage drives. Please, no heat. Please, no sci-fi, animals, and weapon based characters. VF6, if you do this, I will volunteer my money to you.
You're completely right in regards to guest characters imo Kiryu would sell the game for newcomer SEGA fans, while ones like Ryo would sell it for older fans + advertise the eventual return of Shenmue
if Brian we're not to come back, I'd certainly hope they add a kickboxer fighter with the same or similar play style. First played VF through the Beta, and absolutely loved how natural he felt to play.
@@StrawHatLaw13 i nearly swerved my car when Roofle mentioned that Quest Mode needs to come back. They bring back quest mode with the option to fight the AI opponents and/or Real players in the virtual arcades and then a tournament at the end when the arcade requirements are met.
Haha same, that's how I got into VF. Just that quest mode grind for wins and cosmetics. The real blessing was how quickly matches loaded; you go from one fight to the next seamlessly with no time lost, until one of those pesky local tournament showed up to combo break your win (or lose) streak.
Grew up with Tekken, Soul Edge, Street Fighter. Never played VF cause I never had a Sega Console. I really hope they keep it a realistic fighting game, cause Tekken completly lost it with 8. Tekken was my favorite fighting game franchise ever and they ruined it over time with armored moves, 2D characters, meter usage, super moves, guest characters from final fantasy. Tekken is for the new gen now that likes flashy Michael Bay style. I want an oldschool fighting game without riscing a seizure every couple seconds with all the effects going on.
Agree 100%, I'm tired of swords in my "grounded" fighting game. It was cool when Yoshimitsu had a sword, it was different, now it's just swords and Glocks galore. VF is filling the void Tekken left for me.
My hopes for New VF are Virtua Fighter 6 Story Mode/World Tour Mode Team Battle Rhombus HUD with Guard Gauge New Moves Fast Gameplay New Roster with Largest I love Virtua Fighter and Happy 30th Anniversary.
I'm pretty sure that they will surprise us with something revolutionary regarding stages. From the little gameplay shown the arena is full of objects that you will plausibly be able to interact with in different ways. In the trailer Akira smashes through a wall with a shoulder strike, and this will also be reflected in the gameplay with a myriad of environmental interactions. I could be wrong ofc but that's my guess!
- I hope it stays a 3 button game. The simple controls that still allow for a high skill ceiling is one of the core pillars of what makes VF such a good game for both beginners and pros. Of course, VF has been a 4 button game before with VF3, but I feel at this point the 3 button system is part of the series’ appeal. - I hope it still has ring outs More ”realistic” and natural stage layouts is cool, but I don’t want it to become entirely like DoA and remove the ability to ringout, as being able to end a round at a moments notice is something that sets it apart from other fighting games (since we’re not getting another Soul Calibur…), and makes great use of the fact that it’s a 3D fighter. - I REALLY hope it doesn’t have a Super mechanic or universal meter management of any kind. Every game has moved in this direction, and I’d like VF to stand the ground and not cave. I get that having cinematic supers make for great trailer fodder, and it’s a big reason for why they are done, to pull in the casual players (because it works). But there’s other ways to do that, like slowdowns and dramatic camera angles on big final hits. I get that they want to innovate, and by all means introduce new mechanics (something relating to environmental interactions feels in line with the series, for example). But please leave meter and 10 second cinematics to other games.
Maybe for ringouts, they could make it so that most stages require you to interact with the stage first before they open up? For example, a stage next to a river where you knock your opponent through a fence and then transition to a balcony above the river, with the next person to go over the railing being ringed out? Sort of like Tekken 8 stages.
I agree with you entirely, especially on supers. There are lots of cool ways they could make the game more cinematic without slowing the game down with cutscenes. They could do a once per game blow back attack that lets you steal a round with a ring out or wall combo, they could have certain hits cause a cinematic ending if they kill (especially rad in instant replay), or they could have a mechanic that causes the opponent to move in slow motion for a few seconds if they really wanted to be crazy. Samsho V has a universal time slow mechanic that burns your gauge and can only be used if you lose a round first, it allows for unique combos or insane whiff punishes and leads to some really hype stuff. Honestly, at this point, it would be more innovative and stand out more if they DON'T have supers and find other ways to make the game pop, plus 3D fighters and meters have a bad track record.
I'd like them to add more terrain features. VF3 kind of tried to do this with the sloped terrain, where move properties could change depending on your relative height compared to your opponent. I know Yu Suzuki has said in the past that this was something he always wanted to add.
I feel like this would add a kind of uncomfortable depth in the same vain the weightsystem did and does; just seems like busy work to learn all new custom combos for some specific maps depending on if you have the highground or not doesn't seem fun to me tbh
From my understanding, the director of Soul Calibur 5, Daishi Odashima, had moved on to Sega to work on Virtua Fighter. Because of this, I think we might also see some elements from Soul Calibur 5 in the next VF. In fact, I think I can already notice two. First off, SC5 had a unique sidestep feature in the series, where sidestepping had this wooshing wind effect to create a more fluid-looking step animation. I think we can see something similar in this trailer, where there is a "woosh" feeling to the step. Secondly, SC5 was also essentially a reboot, taking place 17 years in the future and featuring offspring and replacements of established SC characters. This also seems to be the case with Stella, replacing Sarah.
@@hurricane7727 Not many people realize that the 2011 Japanese tsunami had a major detrimental impact to SC5’s development. People often blame the dev’s for SC5 feeling rushed and incomplete, but the devs did what they could with the limitations that they were working with, given the catastrophe at the time.
@LucasRMA The Critical Edges were Weak Compared to Sc4 Critical Finishes and Sc6 Critical Edges and alot of Older Character Movesets weren't in that game which was a Turnoff. I played Sc Broken Destiny over it and also I heard you can't even Buy Dampierre for ScV( Glad I have Broken Destiny because He's Playable in Broken Destiny )
I do hope they give us a Big Woman character to compete with the likes of Marisa. VF big bois honestly have some of the most interesting quirks of design in the series. lol Also; give Vanessa back her melanin!
@@PKMJyo That would be SICK. A Kazuya or Heihachi parody would be AMAZING, plus you got the bones for a cool character in the game, you could make the effect on the electric something silly like instead of lightning, it's flowers or confetti. Might be better to stay away but still I like thinking about the possibilities here.
Jokes aside though, I would also love to see any character from Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage as playable guest characters as well, since a lot of them look perfectly fit for a fighting game..... like that buff lady from Streets of Rage 4, she needs to be in a fighting, *SHE MUST BE IN A FIGHTING GAME!!!!!* Another option could be the characters from Fighting Vipers.
in the trailer cinematic, Akira shoulder's the opponent through the wall, then he walks away and it says READY?, my guess is that the wall break during the actual battle will act as the 'ring out'. Sounds next gen and cool to me!
I want them to bring back Vanessa's muscle mass. Please make her look like an ex-military vet again. I also want them to let us purchase the older games like VF4Evo. They have tons of content and have made waves in each game. Let's get it back out there, so we don't have to emulate it again.
I got into VF with VF2 on the Saturn, but I REALLY got into it when I played 4Evo because of the Quest Mode. I literally felt like I was traveling to various arcades beating people's azzes 😂 one of my favorite standalone modes in a fighting game, next to World Tour mode in SFA3.
@@StarOutlaw9 I somewhat doubt that, considering the characters' playstyles, especially when Aoi exists. (Maybe I'm biased as an Asuka main & Aoi "main" though lol)
Great content Roofle! For me, my main fixation is on new characters. I’d be very interested in seeing a kali stick user or Silat fighter. I feel like how obscure VF martial arts choices have been makes me think they fit right in.
I'm with you on most of these. Very good video as always. I only have caveats with maybe 2 points: 1. The Stagger system. I do think it needs updating because infinites as the one shown aren't good overall. I however don't think it needs to go away completely. What I'd rather they do, is make it easier to get back up. Maybe take it from estimated 8 to 10 quick movements down to 3 or 4 quick movements of the directions. 2. Plot. VF does have plot lol albeit not as fleshed out as some others. If they were to flesh it out, as in Shenmue, since that was supposedly Akira's story anyway, that would be cool and great single player content along with quest mode. Or as stated, they could go the Yakuza route and flesh it out that way. I would moreso consider the Yakuza route nowadays since that's the more recognizable of those 2 but either could work. Other than that, yeah I pretty much agree. They definitely need redesigns on their characters. My thing is, I agree Goh draws the crowd, but where is his debut hooded design from 4 Evo?!? That was his best design in my opinion. That design needs to return. As far as wants: We definitely need a proper boxer, taekwondo, savate, krav maga, tai chi, capoeira and an unorthodox style of just someone like Shen Woo or Miguel that's straight up hands (No style necessary). Another want is a SNK guest character. Kim Kaphwan or May Lee would be my pics. May Lee would be cool with her multiple stances, Kim would draw the crowd while bringing in Taekwondo. A Fighting Vipers character like Bahn or Grace. Bahn is kind of Akira though so Grace would be a better fit. Honey may work as well. The return of Rent A Hero as a guest character lol Fun modes just for the heck of it. Take Kensei Sacred Fist for example, they had a mode where you could choose your favorite fighter and have a foot race against the other players. Stuff like that would be fun just because. HUGE ADDENDUM: Remove the create a character custom item limit. Allow full customization.
I actually want Kensei characters as guests or to have its comeback as a new game. But the probable problem is that this game is dead for ages, so no one would recognize it
@@zhanbossi5511 honestly a Kensei revival would be great right now. Especially with people wanting a true hand to hand 3D fighter now. With the revival of Virtua Fighter, Kensei should be considered for sure. Never thought about having them as guests but that would be pretty cool actually
Now I realizet hat there are tons of martial art style that are missing that could add subtle varieties. Tai chi, Winchung, Snake-style, Sanda, Sambo, Sil lak Hapkido (Sorry for the misspelling)
What you say at the end about having rank separated by character is so true. In games where you have a single rank for everyone I always feel pressured to hyperspecialize
Wouldn’t be surprised if Kiryu was base roster. Obviously he’d sell hot as DLC, but VF 6 kinda needs that boost in base game. PLS GIVE THE LADIES MUSCLES
re stagger, dunno if this has been mentioned but there's actually a technique to vf4/5 stagger that the game doesn't really adequately tell you. Basically the game is counting amount of inputs made during stagger time, both directionals and attack buttons. What you need to do is hold G (so you don't mash out a move after you recover), do full circle motions as fast as you can (it counts diagonals so you're making rapid inputs), and mash P/K alternatingly piano-style (it you press P+K that's only one input). Do this and you will absolutely block the Eileen move.
I think big levels would really help the Kung Fu movie is if level transitions were more dynamic. Like you start in a tea house, the break through a windows and fight in a street, then move onto a bridge, then fall off the bridge and fight on a boat, etc.
I never properly played a VF game before outside of arcades, demos and Yakuza. If Kiryu was in the roster (and god willing, Majima too), I would cream in a nerdgasm so hard I'd instantly buy the game on the spot. LET ME TIGER-DROP PEOPLE IN PVP, *PLEASE* !
I have played Vf4 and Vf4 Evolution on the Ps2 and Those games load Faster than Vf5 and has Quicker Paced Gameplay as well and Akiras Vf4 Stage was Cool
🤣Wasn't expecting the Hakan mention. I gotta say, three or four years ago VF was a game I played maybe once every six months, never got invested enough to learn, but over time your channel got me more interested and informed about it. I hope Sega acknowledges you as an ambassador for the franchise.
There's every fighting vipers character that could transfer to VF too as base roster Edit: I didn't expect the heart, but I know most would want Bahn or honey based off designs alone, and honey is oddly still relevant due to her sonic universe version.
Personally, I think Majima is the cleanest pick for first guest from Like a Dragon, since he's crossed the generational line from The Kyru focused games to the Ichban games.
More arts! - Chinese grappling (shua jiao, chin na, mongolian wrestling, tai chi push hands, dog kung fu) - Silat + empty hand kali - Luta livre vale tudo - other kinds of kickboxing (eg savate, sanda) - modern kempo - soviet/slavic styles
I played VF OG back at a local pizza joint when I was 5-8 years old. It was probably one of my first ever video game experiences. I'm so excited for this franchise coming back to a new generation I cannot wait to play Kiryu, Majima, and Ichiban
I actually like Vanessa because she uses Vale Tudo which is my favorite MMA fight style next to Lethwei. I haven't ever seen it in a game properly till VF, old man.
29:50 I was actually talking with a friend about this, and one thing I will say regarding VF's threadbare plot is, it's honestly still better than Tekken's plot. Sure, VF's got a nothing plot right now, but a nothing plot is better than an extremely busy plot like Tekken's where lots of things are _happening_ but very little of it actually _does_ anything more than give people wacky and/or edgy hijinks to laugh at. RGG Studio is good at making wild stories that still have a solid core, so I'm not _super_ worried about it, but if they're gonna go heavy on story, I would want that story to be worth the trip.
I started my FG journey with DBFZ and have only played anime fighters, the first time I even heard about VF was the GAME AWARDS. I watched as many videos as I could to catch up on the history and started vf5 on ps4 3 days ago. The new trailer stands out to me already in just how Different the vibes are, it has me really excited! As a single player gamer at heart I would kill for an actual fun campaign and not just the main menu being queue for ranked.
I didnt even know that VF was a thing. I only saw the original one in an anime once. But after watching your videos I hope that they keep the stages realistic. Where SF throws fireballs and Tekken has lasers I always felt like VF is the straight martial arts game which I really like. Would break that illusion if someone just breaks through the floor or scaffiolding and stands up like hnothing happend
As a long time Tekken player, I'm excited for VF6 and I've never played a VF before Ultimate Showdown. Not sure who I want to main yet (probably Brad), but this franchise comeback seems quite promising.
Speaking as someone who hasn't touched VF yet but is interested in looking at it, my big BIG problem with the series is how little there is to the characters lore/personality-wise, or possibly that the series is very bad at communicating that there is depth. I took a look at the series' wiki a bit ago, and the amount of character progression is one paragraph per game, and some of it is just "character A meets character B, loses, and wants to face them again next time." All there is to El Braze, according to the wiki, is that he is a luchador that is envious of Wolf. This might be a Wikia problem more than a VF problem, but as someone's who's very interested in story and character, it's harder to get into these games if there isn't a lot to the characters story-wise. They have the roots of something interesting. Judgement 6, as fighting game tropey as they are, is a good launching point for something if they would just do something with it.
getting kiryu on virtual fighter would INMIDIATELY put it in the spot. even non-fighting game players would be like "maybe i should get into fighting games".
Martial arts that I hope Sega will use for new characters: Dambe (Nigeria) Boxing (UK/US) Engolo (the source of Capoeira from Angola) Hapkido (Korea) Sambo (Russia) Changquan (China) And I hope Sega goes the Fighter Megamix route and have guest / hidden characters from Sega's history. Have Segata Sanshiro, Yakuza / RGG characters, Sonic characters, the Hornet car from Daytona USA, Opa Opa, Golden Axe characters, Nights, Ulala from Space Channel 5, etc. And yes GO HARD ON SINGLE PLAYER. WE NEED VF4 EVO QUEST MODE AGAIN!!!!!
Kiryu shouldn’t be a guest he should be part of the base roster. Then other characters from Sega titles should be guests like Shenmue, Shinobi, hell even bring in Eternal Champion characters (a game Sega cruelly cut short in the height of it’s popularity). Then add guests from other games like Tekken, SF, KOF etc
He most likely won't be because the Creator doesn't want kiryu to ever put his hands on a women regardless of any game that he's in. That's actually the only reason why the creator always said no about kiryu joing Tekken because he would be hitting women I respect it
You know that being a guest character doesn’t equal DLC, right? It doesn’t matter if Kiryu was on the base roster, he would still be a guest character, because he’s not from VF
@@JNAB0212 yep rooflemonger explained already but it would be cool have they made him canon to VF like how Cody from Final Fight is canon to SF as well.
The moment I saw Eileen and the stagger mechanic mentioned, I already knew what was coming lol. As an Eileen player, I formally apologize on the behalf of the other monkey girl enthusiasts for abusing 1 P + K. I hope they patch it out tbh, and I hope they get rid of staggers in VF6
I hear all this stuff about Yakuza characters, but let's not forget... Sega owns Streets of Rage, which they're also working on according to their announcement. Seeing anybody from Axel to Estel would be hype as hell.
Itself a Taki, because of
Lack of technology to make him work, but you can have every character. The closest as simulated
Which does the realism better than any fighting game to? Date I don't know any ones is better. Maybe the snk title. And a few others
Look up chief flash how to break staggers in VF 5 ultimate showndown He gives the perfect video how to break staggers easy
For the hitbox and weight issue, they should totally steal from the greatest indie fighting game ever made... Skul... or rather, Them's Fighting Herds. There's no weight at all in that game for the purposes of juggles, and also once a combo starts, the victim's hurtbox becomes a square.
The single player should be a Shenmue Experience.
It's unlikely, but a World Tour mode made by RGG would easily make this the greatest single player FG of all time.

One of the wishes I had for VF was granted, and that was the speed. VF6 looks like a Kung Fu movie now.
VF is already a fast game, I don't know what you're talking about.
Most rounds are lucky to end outside of 20 seconds between two players who know how to play the game.
@@Longlostpuss I think he wanted Tekken 8 levels of speed.
@@Longlostpuss Less damage or more life, more speed for falling. Actually characters in the air are floating, it’s bad.
I would love to see how Sega would interprete a Capoeira fighter.
capoeira maravilhosa
meh, Gordo and Dee Jay cover the Capoeira type pretty well as it is. I'd like to see an Indian character that uses Kalari Payattu, that would fit in super well with VF. Also for Africa they could have a character that fights Dambe. Dambe is sort of like a one punch knock out boxing style they do in Nigeria
@@danielm5161 I don’t think Dee Jay is capoeira, that would be Elena, which I’m beyond pumped for her return 🔥

Revo the last big hurrah for VF5 so lets go nuts with it
I played all five days and got to #1 in my region (South America).
That’s basically me I used to play with Sakura heavy back in the old days and she was my main in sf4 😪 had to start fresh in VI since I don’t want to use a shoto like ryu and Ken 😅

Estel would be lovely
@@Rooflemonger I love Blaze! Day one buy for me if that happens!
Now this is an amazing idea
I very much agree with this. VF6 needs as much hype as possible. I lowkey want to see Fighters Megamix-lite when it comes to new characters. Visit SOR, visit Shenmue, visit Yakusa.
More than anything I just want the next VF to have all characters actively parrying & dodging when you're holding block like a choregraphed kung fu movie. I understand that's an incredible undertaking when you factor in all the characters vs each other is a ton of possibilities but it'll happen someday. The little clip they showed essentially gave us that.
Also in the video, you can see active dodging with the torso revolving rather than simply ducking
I honestly only really put hours into Street Fighter 6 world tour mode and played VS mode just little. A single player mode is a MUST
The stuff I hear about Virtua Fighter tells me that it's ahead of its time.
Ryo Hazuki and Lan-Di from Shenmue are the characters I want to see the most in the new Virtua Fighter game
Same bro, I'd kill to play ryo in this
I want Majima as DLC so badly!
Now we only need DOA to make a comeback
not just DOA, but also brand new indie games.
Don't forget Soulcalibur!!
Tekken has got a lot of new eyes for 3D fighting games, now is the best time to come back!
We need Bloody Roar back 😩
DOA7 will come some day without ANY DOUBT! But what about Fighting Vipers 3, Last Bronx 2 or Tobal No. 3? Would love a 3rd Tobal but on the other hand we lost Akira Toriyama some months ago... 😞
You never know whether the game is dead or alive.
We need A Quest Mode like Vf4 Evolution and Kumite mode

NEVERRRR
I hope it stays a “3 button” game. No long super animations and I hope they add some cool new characters that represent martial arts styles we haven’t seen in VF yet
Perspective from a new player who tried the REVO beta (and really enjoyed it):
While I like the idea of a "simple" 3 button scheme, in practice I'm not sure it actually simplifies all that much, nor does it make things easier.
@@Sir_Robin_of_Camelot
edit: whoops, misread the comment and completely missed the point.
Also in terms of new mechanic. I agree get rid of the Stagger system and maybe add the stun blow mechanic that DOA has.
Yeah the REVO tutorials are surprisingly good. Helped me “get” VF
Also try to play Virtua Fighter 4!
That game also had a Different version called Vf4 Evolution that had the Best Quest mode in a Vf game
As stages evolve i think we could have a mix of things here like tekken where some walls explode, some walls break... we could hav open stages in VF with walls... some stages like rooftops and stuff with ringouts, some have walls on one side and ring outs on another, and maybe some walls are breakable and
lead into other stages... when it comes to "quest mode" or singleplayer stuff i would love some SF6 World Tour stuff
This may be milking Virtua Fighter but I’d only be mad if this were another UA-camr, but on top of that we need more people on tracks
also, EVERYBODY WAS VIRTUA FIGHTING
Can't wait for VF6! This is such a beautiful IP. I have SO MUCH FUN with VF since the very first one.
I even bought me a SEGA Lindbergh, so i can play the arcade exclusive VF5R at home. 🥰
Same.
I think a important part of the VF spirit is the different martial arts styles. Would be really cool to see capoeira, taekwondo, traditional boxing, taidō, bartitsu, kendo, or lethwei, make the cut this time. No magic powers and guns please.
taekwondo is already in the game Dude
@maegnificant I guess Sarah uses certain elements taekwondo along with savate, etc. But she's not a complete taekwondo character like Baek/Hwoarang/Kim/Juri.
@@NamComSNK I thought jean used Teakwondo but I was wrong
Don't forget Virtua Fighter 6 also NEEDS the return of Instant Replay not just for online or offline modes but for every occasion on every round because without it you would never consider Virtua fighter to be a true 3D fighter at all. and Tekken7/8 along with Dead or Alive 5/6 have imperfectively killed it's aspect of what makes those two games actually 3D. except for Soul Calibur 6 it did a fine job bringing it back despite the short time it had before and after.
I liked the Replay Mechanic in Vf4 and Vf4 Evolution!
Also maybe Ai Training and Kumitie Mode from Vf4 and Quest Mode from Vf4 Evolution
I loved the instant replay stuff. They really need to bring that back.
I think Street Fighter VI already has this function.
Wouldn't mind seeing Ghosts added to the game
@@chibu3212 I guess they did add that, huh? I forgot. Tekken 8 obviously has it, but the first game I can think of having them is actually Samsho 7, though they didn't work particularly well.

Also thank you for addressing buff VF4 Sarah. We need her back!
She was much prettier in VF4 too. Looked very similar to Jennifer Garner imo.
Stages can go both ways in the same game. We can have out geometrical stages and crazy new stages. And players can decide what's competitive legal.
Heeeeellooooo and thanks for having us rooflemonger my friend🗣️👍✨

I feel like Kiryu in VF is kind of a no brainer. Would love to see Saejima somewhere down the line too. I think Majima or Ichiban would be better fits for Tekken. An Ichiban rage art where he imagines the opponent as a drunkard in trash can armor then goes ham with the baseball bat and german suplexes would fill me with joy.
Honestly i can definitely see ichiban in tekken cause sega will probably want to keep kiryu and majima for VF for publicity's sake
The good news is unlike clive, ichiban is a beloved character of the rgg fanbase so at least they won't have any issue with it
Shinada would be an absolutely perfect fit for vf, too bad rgg doesn't wanna do anything with one of their best protagonists

I still remember fighting crazy legs in Virtua fighter Evo quest.
- I hope it still has ring outs
More ”realistic” and natural stage layouts is cool, but I don’t want it to become entirely like DoA and remove the ability to ringout, as being able to end a round at a moments notice is something that sets it apart from other fighting games (since we’re not getting another Soul Calibur…), and makes great use of the fact that it’s a 3D fighter.
@@eagle_IIRing out at stage that doesn't look like a ring is, I dunno, doesn't make sense.
I'd like them to add more terrain features. VF3 kind of tried to do this with the sloped terrain, where move properties could change depending on your relative height compared to your opponent. I know Yu Suzuki has said in the past that this was something he always wanted to add.
I feel like this would add a kind of uncomfortable depth in the same vain the weightsystem did and does; just seems like busy work to learn all new custom combos for some specific maps depending on if you have the highground or not
doesn't seem fun to me tbh
The only thing I hope is that everyone is there.
not a single removal, Virtua Fighter has a cast far too small to allow it to remove characters.
Weight classes but no micro-weight classes. I like that. 👌🏻
Good video once again. ✌🏻
Whatever. Sc5 Nearly Killled Sc and Sc6 had way Better Critical Edges than Sc5's.
VF big bois honestly have some of the most interesting quirks of design in the series. lol
Also; give Vanessa back her melanin!
Don’t want a Marisa, I want a joke character like Dan Hibiki but inspired from Tekken to start a war with Virtua Fighter’s rival.😂
I’m happy you got your channel back! You are awesome! We are all looking for good times ahead waiting for VF6. You make awesome content always!🎉
🙏
Jokes aside though, I would also love to see any character from Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage as playable guest characters as well, since a lot of them look perfectly fit for a fighting game..... like that buff lady from Streets of Rage 4, she needs to be in a fighting, *SHE MUST BE IN A FIGHTING GAME!!!!!*
Another option could be the characters from Fighting Vipers.
in the trailer cinematic, Akira shoulder's the opponent through the wall, then he walks away and it says READY?, my guess is that the wall break during the actual battle will act as the 'ring out'. Sounds next gen and cool to me!
Sounds like Fighting Vipers
Hell yeah!...just woke up n saw the upload noti for this!
The “2 reasons” people are Vanessa mains… I feel attacked! The tackle punch beat down she does sold me though!
The overlap with Asuka mains on the venn diagram is a circle.
@@StarOutlaw9 I somewhat doubt that, considering the characters' playstyles, especially when Aoi exists. (Maybe I'm biased as an Asuka main & Aoi "main" though lol)
The 2 reasons, are her stances, right? RIGHT?!
Great content Roofle!
For me, my main fixation is on new characters. I’d be very interested in seeing a kali stick user or Silat fighter. I feel like how obscure VF martial arts choices have been makes me think they fit right in.
Here's to hoping Arcade Quest is fleshed out as much as a Yakuza side game.
I'm with you on most of these. Very good video as always.
I only have caveats with maybe 2 points:
As far as wants:
We definitely need a proper boxer, taekwondo, savate, krav maga, tai chi, capoeira and an unorthodox style of just someone like Shen Woo or Miguel that's straight up hands (No style necessary).
The return of Rent A Hero as a guest character lol
Fun modes just for the heck of it. Take Kensei Sacred Fist for example, they had a mode where you could choose your favorite fighter and have a foot race against the other players. Stuff like that would be fun just because.
HUGE ADDENDUM: Remove the create a character custom item limit. Allow full customization.
Great post, just wanted to add Silat to the list
I actually want Kensei characters as guests or to have its comeback as a new game. But the probable problem is that this game is dead for ages, so no one would recognize it
@@zhanbossi5511 honestly a Kensei revival would be great right now. Especially with people wanting a true hand to hand 3D fighter now. With the revival of Virtua Fighter, Kensei should be considered for sure. Never thought about having them as guests but that would be pretty cool actually
@@erichthegraham agreed, Silat would be great as well
Now I realizet hat there are tons of martial art style that are missing that could add subtle varieties. Tai chi, Winchung, Snake-style, Sanda, Sambo, Sil lak Hapkido (Sorry for the misspelling)
Kenshi had Tai Chi.
What you say at the end about having rank separated by character is so true. In games where you have a single rank for everyone I always feel pressured to hyperspecialize
If akira, pai, sara and jacky was in doa 5 I believe thats kasumi, hayabusa, tina and jan lee should be in VF
Like you start in a tea house, the break through a windows and fight in a street, then move onto a bridge, then fall off the bridge and fight on a boat, etc.
well thats exactly how it works in DoA, so I wouldnt mind VF taking that inspiration
28:35 I still curse the Brad Burns AI named USELESS to this day.
🤣Wasn't expecting the Hakan mention.
I gotta say, three or four years ago VF was a game I played maybe once every six months, never got invested enough to learn, but over time your channel got me more interested and informed about it. I hope Sega acknowledges you as an ambassador for the franchise.
Well that would be lovely but ill be the helpful shill regardless lol
There's every fighting vipers character that could transfer to VF too as base roster
Edit: I didn't expect the heart, but I know most would want Bahn or honey based off designs alone, and honey is oddly still relevant due to her sonic universe version.
pumped to see what they could do with Goh for a fresh look
Personally, I think Majima is the cleanest pick for first guest from Like a Dragon, since he's crossed the generational line from The Kyru focused games to the Ichban games.
As far as Guests go i hope we get Dead or Alive characters in since we got VF representation in DoA 5
Maybe. But honestly, guest characters don't really increase the player base that much. Long term, anyway.
What makes. F special is that they don’t rotate or remove characters. The list just grows like Overwatch. I hope they do this again!
well vf does remove characters is the thing, no taka in vf4, and he wasnt in 5 until final showdown
@ that is true but that’s only 1 character in 30 years that was removed right?
Just wanted to say I'm very glad you got all the 'being hacked' stuff figured out! Good to have you back :)
🙌
More arts!
- Chinese grappling (shua jiao, chin na, mongolian wrestling, tai chi push hands, dog kung fu)
- Silat + empty hand kali
- Luta livre vale tudo
- other kinds of kickboxing (eg savate, sanda)
- modern kempo
- soviet/slavic styles
I played VF OG back at a local pizza joint when I was 5-8 years old. It was probably one of my first ever video game experiences. I'm so excited for this franchise coming back to a new generation
I cannot wait to play Kiryu, Majima, and Ichiban
I have faith- Sega is going to blow us out the water. 2ndly, guess characters kasumi from DOA and Jin from Tekken.
I actually like Vanessa because she uses Vale Tudo which is my favorite MMA fight style next to Lethwei. I haven't ever seen it in a game properly till VF, old man.
holymoly he got his channel back. lets go!
Thank you for standing up for lady muscles
I started my FG journey with DBFZ and have only played anime fighters, the first time I even heard about VF was the GAME AWARDS. I watched as many videos as I could to catch up on the history and started vf5 on ps4 3 days ago. The new trailer stands out to me already in just how Different the vibes are, it has me really excited! As a single player gamer at heart I would kill for an actual fun campaign and not just the main menu being queue for ranked.
Ever Played Vf4 ? It loads Quicker and its Main Menu is Better than Vf5 Menu
Lion not getting hit outta that combo is a francophone specific buff
I didnt even know that VF was a thing. I only saw the original one in an anime once. But after watching your videos I hope that they keep the stages realistic. Where SF throws fireballs and Tekken has lasers I always felt like VF is the straight martial arts game which I really like. Would break that illusion if someone just breaks through the floor or scaffiolding and stands up like hnothing happend
As a long time Tekken player, I'm excited for VF6 and I've never played a VF before Ultimate Showdown. Not sure who I want to main yet (probably Brad), but this franchise comeback seems quite promising.
Try Vf4 Evolution. Its Quest Mode Rocked and it loads Faster than Vf5 !
Martial arts that I hope Sega will use for new characters:
Dambe (Nigeria)
Boxing (UK/US)
Engolo (the source of Capoeira from Angola)
Hapkido (Korea)
Sambo (Russia)
Changquan (China)
And I hope Sega goes the Fighter Megamix route and have guest / hidden characters from Sega's history. Have Segata Sanshiro, Yakuza / RGG characters, Sonic characters, the Hornet car from Daytona USA, Opa Opa, Golden Axe characters, Nights, Ulala from Space Channel 5, etc.
And yes GO HARD ON SINGLE PLAYER. WE NEED VF4 EVO QUEST MODE AGAIN!!!!!
Silat (Indonesia)
@@erichthegraham Silat would be an awesome addition!!! What if the character can switch between Harimau Silat and other silat styles?
Kiryu shouldn’t be a guest he should be part of the base roster. Then other characters from Sega titles should be guests like Shenmue, Shinobi, hell even bring in Eternal Champion characters (a game Sega cruelly cut short in the height of it’s popularity). Then add guests from other games like Tekken, SF, KOF etc
Even if he's base roster he'd still be a guest really, like Geralt in sc6
He most likely won't be because the Creator doesn't want kiryu to ever put his hands on a women regardless of any game that he's in. That's actually the only reason why the creator always said no about kiryu joing Tekken because he would be hitting women I respect it
You know that being a guest character doesn’t equal DLC, right? It doesn’t matter if Kiryu was on the base roster, he would still be a guest character, because he’s not from VF
@@DanteYamazaki Tell me you didn't watch the video without telling me you didn't watch the video.
Deeper grappling!
- high, low (and mid?) grabs
