    Why does the farmer feed them both fresh grass and silage grass ?

      The fresh grass is not a complete feed for the dairy. Silage contains also corn and minerals.

      My dad is a dairy farmer on the south west coast of Ireland, very wet here
      More people are using a zero grazer wagon to try & bring in grass in February, March and September, October time
      If you feed them meal/nuts/ration in the milking parlour, would that be a complete feed ?

      My guess is that they remove it so the tractor can fit through the barn door.
