What I’m trying to say about the science contour - Makeup contour isn’t washed away by light/flash like the natural shadows of our bone structure. So to put contour in those areas will just look flat in pictures and certain lighting situations 👍🏼
Yes! This is one reason doing a nose contour in the traditional way you normally see, doesn’t work for my nose shape at all. I have a wider bridge that becomes part of the structure for my orbital bone. Putting a dark contour down each side of my nose flattens out the area under the eye and it’s unflattering. All faces are unique and not all techniques will flatter all faces. These directions feel the same as the kind you’d find on the back of eye shadows that told you where to put the crease color and lid color. I never understood why a dark crease color looked ghastly- until I understood that my deep set eyes already had a natural crease - and that really didn’t need any help! I now understand everyone has their own eye shape and placement of products is not going to be a One Size Fits All.
I love the science contour, I've been doing it for so long, depending on the situation. You really need to sculpt the face carefully though when using it, especially if you have shorter hair or your hair is up, because your side profile will look flatter in person. I love doing it in zoom. It can look emaciating so you really need to assess your facial structure before doing it.
The tying off parts of the lip to get a "plumper" look from the swelling is a great way to burst something in your lip and create lasting damage. It looked like the bottom part was bleeding. It just makes me so uncomfortable.
Saaaame, I was cringing watching that one thinking how uncomfortable it looked. Doing things like that is so risky and for what? Her lips didn't even look much plumper.
Went on a blind date yesterday , the guy that sent me pics of himself 20 years ago said he doesn’t like women in make up or high heels or trousers 😂😂😂 wtf I said well I fancied you 20 years ago when your profile pic was taken
They can be so shallow 😭 Also what a massive red flag, he might as well say “if you date me I’m going to try to control the minute details of your life and appearance and make you miserable”
Preach!!! I don't have a single makeup product that states 'for women only' on it. I get people on my Instagram telling me 'you'll never be a woman', 'your grandkids will be so ashamed', 'do your wife and kids support this' etc. It's simultaneously hilarious and disappointing that people still have these rigid ideas about who has to do what in society!
'do your wife and kids support this? ' TF? None of your business? As for grandkids, the way things are going, the next few gens will be the most laid back ever lol. And it's about time!
omg the comment about grandkids is extra hilarious to me because not too long ago i found out one of my great grandpas that fought in the revolutionary war was what we call today a trans man. im not sure how he would've referred to himself but what i do know is that in his early 20s when he was still living as his assigned sex at birth (afab) he became very passionate that the colonies (as they were called back then) should have independence. so what did he do? took his 3 young children and fled in the middle of the night, hopped on a ship to the americas, and "pretended" to be a man to fight in the revolutionary war. he continued "pretending" to be a man until his death, and his three children were very adamant that nobody prepare his body for burial except them, for obvious reasons. im his great grandchild and ive gotta say im pretty damn proud of him and the amount of bravery it took to flee an unhappy marriage and wrangle his three young kids along the way while he himself was still barely an adult.
If you have a face, you can do makeup. I find it hilarious when makeup is branded for men (often with black packaging). Why would my foundation not work for a man? You do you and I’m sure the grandkids are proud ❤
Gendering things pointlessly is so very silly. Why on earth wouldn’t men be able to wear makeup if they want to? I think it’s beautiful (and often hot) but more importantly, it’s about them being able to express themselves. I’m glad you’re continuing to wear it even if some people are ridiculous bigots about it ❤
Im in a few feminist circles and the makeup hatred is very intense, but it's mostly directed at the beauty industry itself, because it's true that many of these brands benefit from people's insecurities. I've known women who couldn't leave the house without wearing makeup, it was their crutch and it's sad. I personally love the creativity of makeup, and I find the history of makeup fascinating, but I think it's important to acknowledge the unsavoury aspects of the makeup world, too.
I don’t leave the house without makeup but it shouldn’t make anyone sad. Because of my role at home and at work I am caring for others just about every second of my life, but not when I am doing my skincare and makeup. That is my time to focus on myself and I enjoy it. While I agree that brands benefit from people’s insecurities, it does not follow that people who wear makeup (even every day) are necessarily insecure. I feel like feminism should be about celebrating and supporting women doing whatever they want instead of assuming they are victims and don’t know what they really want or what is best for them. (Just a friendly reaction, because your ideas got me thinking. I’d never bring negative vibes here in Robert’s comments 💜!)
@@Beeleeteecee do you feel like you need makeup to be presentable? Do you dread anyone seeing your bare face? Do you hate looking at your bare skin? If not then I'm not really talking about you. Feminism doesn't celebrate every woman's choice, because not every choice we make is good. Is it feminist when a woman chooses to vote against allowing access to safe abortions ? No. Feminism has always been about liberating women from male oppression and patriarchy. It's important to support and uplift women but we should still criticize and examine some of the choices we make also. I'm not trying to bring negativity to Robert's page, I'm just hoping my comment reminds people to be a bit more critical when it comes to the beauty industry.
@@wj1040 thank you so much for your comments. I feel like modern pop feminism really discourages women from critically examining their choices when it comes to makeup and beauty. That TikTok about how "well makeup was originally for men!!" is not the "gotcha" that creator thinks it is because things now are VERY different from how they were then. Makeup can be really fun and uplifting, but it can also be a tool to ruin women's self-confidence and reinforce unrealistic beauty standards. Like all these memes about how men think that photoshopped models with a full face of "no makeup" makeup are what women with no makeup on actually look like... these are not memes. This is the reality. The beauty industry is NOT our friend. It makes trillions off of damaging women are girls psychologically and physically. We should never forget that. And for many women makeup isn't even a choice! I don't know what it's like in the West, but here in Russia it's not uncommon for OFFICE jobs to have makeup as a dress code requirements for female employees. I still enjoy makeup as a hobby, but I have no illusions about it being "empowering" and "feminist". It is not, and it is okay. Not everything a woman does needs to be a girl power move.
I knew a woman who couldn't look at herself in the mirror without a full face of makeup while she was doing her laundry in her own house. I think that's pretty sad.
I swear the lady with the rubber bands looked like she got punched. The men creating makeup is similar to men who wore heels long before women, to boost their height and appear more masculine. So a lot of what is now considered feminine started for men to feel badass.
Wigs too. Like makeup, they were popularized in Ancient Egypt and both genders wore them but men were more likely to simply because men often go bald prematurely. And pink used to be a "boys" color (because it's a lighter variation of red which is a powerful, "masculine" color.) Not to mention skirts and dress-like tunics were worn by men in most cultures. Men want to feel good about their appearance as much as women do, but society decided they should be ashamed of that. So makeup isn't misogynistic, it's misandrist. It's especially wild that men can't even wear concealer and foundation... How is it unmanly to want to cover zits 😭 self-confidence is not less important to men.
@@LunarEleven the thing about self-confidence is that we only teach girls that they should use makeup to feel more confident, not boys... Boys are fine the way they are, zits and all, but girls should always look flawless at all times 🤔 We should not disregard the fact that makeup is often used as a tool to oppress women. It's not just a neutral art form as long as there are companies profiting from inventing new insecurities for women every 3-4 business days and selling new makeup products to "fix" them. We need to push back against the system to reclaim makeup as a form of true self-expression, or at least pressure men to wear it too so we're not alone in it lmao.
I am tired of people telling me how important it is to look at all the details of my eyes. I wear glasses to see at all. I can't see my whole eye when they are on and cant see shit when they are off. I do my makeup with a lot of makeup remover, tears and promises to G-d.
I found a way to get around that but it's a but costly,I got flip down lens glasses and my normal pair, same prescription, I put glasses on a surface chin height with my glasses behind them and I have a mirror on my lap,I alternate between looking a head and looking down, as I say its a lot of fuckery but it kinda works for me xxz
I always get a bit distracted when the camera zooms in a bit, and the neon sign suddenly shows OBERT WELSH, or my personal favorite BERT ELSH. Great video as always!
THANK YOU for your little rant at the end (and book recommendation!) The 'science of contour' ignores that we are not just skin covering a skull and that we do not all have the same skull or desired outcome. That 'masculine contour' is often used for aging or 'sick and dying' on screen & stage. My cheekbones are most prominent on the sides, and I contour to make them look less prominent face-on. It is rarely performed in West, but there is even surgery people undergo to have cheekbones shaved down. So, even when people desire a look that overlaps with eurocentric beauty standards, it is not always achieved with eurocentric techniques. Sweeping generalisations about the best way to have a good-looking skull are uncomfortably close to phrenology.
I think what's so cool about you, Robert, is your quiet confidence when talking about makeup. We can see how you can be silly or shy in other areas but your professionalism shines. Would you consider talking about "no makeup look for screen" techniques? RawBeautyKristi did a video a few years back where she recreated that "period drama" or historical "perfect skin" look where you literally can't telll they're wearing anything using precise concealing etc.
I love your perspective on what makeup means to different people. I don't wear makeup for vanity's sake...it's a form of expression, an art, a hobby and now a profession. A passion for me. Anyway, thanks for that. Well said.
Me too. I work from home, rarely leave my house. Literally nobody ever sees me. I still love makeup. It’s fun. It’s therapeutic. I just love to look at the pretty sparkly things. 😂
Same! In the beginning of the pandemic, when we all just sat at home, I stopped wearing makeup and my depression got a lot worse. Then, luckily, I found Angelica Nyquist’s channel, and she inspired me to start wearing crazy colours again. I instantly felt better.
It was opposite for me. Not being able to go out casually made me sit down and devour makeup videos, and I spent days playing with makeup to try to figure out once and for all if it was hopeless to try dramatic eye looks(verdict: yes, but only to those looks that require non-hooded eyes and lots of space between crease and brow. Robert has shown a few cute ones I can adapt for hooded eyes a bit.). The other plus was going through my crate full of liquid foundations that didn't match me(and determining that liquid foundation in general isn't suitable), and just use them before they went off and the money totally wasted. I now have a cushion foundation box that is for play with one foundation that is too light, but is in the right colour and undertone so I can get the overall application process down for my skin on the chance there is a liquid foundation that will like me.
My BOYS are 24 now and when they were at school, they would ask me to put a bit of concealer on their blemishes all the time! My brother, also wears makeup if he wants to cover anything. He also has Botox and other procedures done too. Men who are secure enough to ask for help when they need it are proper men, in my opinion. Boorish Neanderthals who just beat their chests are not appealing anymore. Most women want a guy who takes care of themselves, IMO 🤷🏻♀️🫶🖤💜
The point is that any type of man is fine. Can we just exept that? A hairy man looking like a Neanderthal doesn't have to be ashamed of himself nor does a man with a slight frame. Wear make-up or dont. Whatever. As long as you don't hurt anyone. And yes some women still like their Neaderthal men even if they are not in fashion.
I have really bad anxiety and used to have panic attacks. Makeup helps me deal with anxiety. I get up everyday and I do my makeup even tho I work from home. And I add colour, glitter and whatever I want. I even wear lipstick and would just take my dog for a walk. It’s my little morning ritual with a cup of coffee.
I find the morning makeup routine very therapeutic. It's one time in my day that's completely dedicated to me and making myself feel good. I suffer from bady anxiety too and have all my life. I've definitely had a number of panic attacks over the years. But, daily routines like doing my makeup in the morning (and skincare before bed) definitely help me both prep for the day ahead and unwind from the stresses/anxieties I had to deal with.
My grandmother had MS. Even though she spent so much of her life confined to a wheelchair or hospital bed, subjecting herself to all kinds of medical experimentation, she always said to me that no matter how bad things may be, there's nothing lipstick can't make a little better. So I wear lipstick every day and think of her.
Oh my god the second video 😂 It said "Homemade lip filler" in the beginning, so I guess the "hack" is to try to achieve the effect of lip filler with those elastics to make your lips swell up? But then I don't understand the point of applying lipstick with them still on, because as the video shows she ruined her makeup trying to take the elastic off... I don't know. I don't get it lmao
its one of those deliberately crappy videos that are designed to make you rewatch it a dozen times trying to figure out what's going on, and/or comment saying it's confusing or dumb. basically engagement bait.
So I wrote a book based on research I did about fashion/makeup/body presentation in the LGBTQ+ community and one of the conclusions I came to is that people like makeup because it’s art you can shamelessly show off. As an artist, I don’t walk around with my paintings all day yelling “look at this”! But I do my makeup and make my own clothes and walk around in public and talk to people and therefore get to promote my art in a more socially acceptable way
This is a conversation my dad once had with a coworker. Basically this guy wasn't so happy about his looks. To which my dad responded with: "Well women have makeup" as in: "Most women wear makeup to look that way, men don't use that." and that lead us to a bigger discussion. In which I said it should be normalized for men to wear makeup. And he said others shouldn't criticize others for what they wear and do. Because it doesn't affect them. But that overall men don't have a culture for makeup and usually don't and won't wear makeup. I on the other hand was proud to see one of the brands I love and support created a makeup line specifically for men. Plain black packaging, men or something below the brand name. And they had some stable basics. Like a cleanser, a moisturizer, a beard and hairline filler, eye cream, concealer, a skin adjusting face tint, brow gel a face mask and more. And I found it not only a great idea but a good line to get people interested and started. Some people hate the idea of makeup for men. But in my personal opinion, if "for men" is included in black boring packaging will make men try this stuff and get interested then more power to them. I feel like we all associate makeup with women needing to be proper and good looking at all times. Or bright drag makeup on men. The thing is I use makeup as a form of art. Some teenage boy might want to use makeup to hide imperfections or make their skin look nicer. Or fill in that patch in their beard that isn't growing for some reason. Why not? Why do people need to complain about this? I bet that if half of those men went to a professional makeup counter they'd leave feeling so self concius about what they have said. They'd look at themselves wishing they could look like like that everyday. Or maybe they'll appreciate the work women do to look like that. And not disrespect them the way they always do. And I'm not saying they need a full face of makeup experience. But some corrective makeup. A tinted moisturizer, some concealer, a bit of bronzer/contour, a slight luminosity, some brow gel and a hint of a defining brown mascara with a dash of lip balm. It'll send them running to the makeup counter for sure.
Hi Robert! I’m a 64 year old woman- from Idaho USA and I love your posts. I wear some makeup but honestly, I’m just too lazy to wear it everyday since I have retired. I enjoy your humor, skill and artistic talent and I hope you continue to educate us!
A professional mua, looking at his confusion at the second tik tok , mirroring exactly my expression too...glad I’m not the only one ah ha! Robert is simple, straight forward, old school...simple as in, he based on theory that not only is clever but it makes sense, none of the hype, the craze and trend...just getvon with it and no bs getting viral lol! Love Robert
I swear contouring gets more complex by the day 😅 masculine contour/ feminine contour and contour depending on your face shape. Imma just gonna do what I like the look of on me and give up 😂 these tiktokers honestly
The last TikTok reminded me of a Halloween makeup I did for an alien character. I used contour as blush and highlight and highlight as contour. It looked so weird it was perfect.
So glad you reacted to the lady talking about the history of make-up. I saw that video, loved it and thought you would. I so enjoy you talking about your art
I tried that crescent method once (high school theater, not enough boys in the cast, you can probably connect the dots) but since my jawline and cheekbones are already prominent, I just looked like a sunken corpse lol
11:55 preach Robert! makeup is for everyone, and means something different to everyone. you can't paint it with just one shade of meaning that's the same for every person.
I wear makeup because I like it, and I love color, not to look good for men/women. I want to decorate myself with fun colors and glitter, and if anyone doesn’t like it, tough.
@ 4:27 her look of horror, simultaneously Robert’s perplexed look..what hack?! TO @ 4:55 her hair flip, as if she nailed. At best, it looks likes like a good make out sesh 💋 💋 L&B from 🇺🇸, Bella
Whenever I watch these reaction videos I realize about half way through that I’m so mesmerized by Robert’s stunning profile, and gorgeous eye makeup, that I haven’t seen any of the content he’s reacting to! 😂
If men were so concerned about the pressures women face because of makeup they’d be interested in removing workplace policies (or unspoken rules) that require it 🙄 Not trolling people for having interests and hobbies
EXACTLY. And it's so funny when men say that they don't like women who wear makeup because most of them expect bare-faced women to look like photoshopped models with a full face of "no makeup" makeup and think that women who actually don't wear any makeup/don't do beauty procedures are ugly/masculine/unkempt. They don't want natural women, they just want to have 24/7 unconditional access to flawless beauty, and makeup threatens that because "b-but what if she's fugly underneath" 🫠
Robert you’re a fuckin legend. Been watching you for a couple of months now and there was a recent vid where you mentioned how nice brown shadows and liner is with blue eyes for weddings. Well I’m a bridesmaid for a very small wedding in one month’s time, so no professional makeup for me. I’m 37 and have blue eyes. I bought the elf mini palette and a natural collection liner (ikr?! tbh I only got it cos I had points to use up but it’s honestly lovely) I still need to practise my blending a little but I’m not horrible at it and growing in confidence everyday. I’m confident I’ll feel great on the day so thank you so much. And the liner by its self for everyday wear is a fucking game changer.
Omg you reacting to the girl’s “lip technique” and trying to find some iota of sense reminded me of Jennifer Lawrence going “what what do you mean?” during the hot wing challenge. I loved it 😂
AHH IM EARLY, Robert I only discovered you yesterday but i've watched over 15-20 videos already on your channel! honestly u make me more optimistic abt makeup cause u tell us whats realistically achivable separated from social media
I'm fairly new to Robert's channel as well and I have binge-watched so many videos since then. He also has a channel with his brother called The Welsh Twins which is so delightful.
People who rubber band their lips are just asking for problems. I do not get it. That looks painful and just why?! Also, I had an ex who told me I shouldn't wear make-up. I love the artistry of it, and how you can do make-up to reflect however you feel that day. It is no ones business what you do to make you feel better about yourself or boost your confidence. Make up is magic, and thanks for helping us with that via your videos, Robert!
The lady talking about makeup and your views on it too Robert are so true! For me, I wear makeup to FEEL better, "looking better" is just an added bonus, just like having a shower! 😂 we do it to smell better but it has the bonus of making us feel, or look, better also!
I literally had a boyfriend In high school named Chad for 4yrs & he wouldn’t let me wear makeup and please don’t say “well why did you listen or stay” bc he was an abusive a$$ that at 1st would say “you are so beautiful you don’t need makeup” and eventually over the years especially at the end it was a demand and that’s when the mental and some physical abuse came in. Thankfully I left not too long after that. I was used to that because of what I witnessed growing up and I made up my mind to never let a man tell me what I can and cannot wear or be abusive in any kind of way. I’m lucky that I met a man who treats me with respect and would never and has never done anything like I’ve mentioned above.
The lip bondage thing is so weird. I get its too plump the lips but her lipstick wasnt even! There were parts ubtouched because of the rubber band! Can you imagine shopping for calzones and running into a person in lip bondage?
I only really wear the "Full Maquillage" when I'm going to a family party, or when I'm getting over a migraine. I get massive dark circles after a migraine, so I correct that, then "cheer my face up". because it looks so miserable. We never know why anyone paints their face, so we should just appreciate the artistry!💌
I'm not sure what was happening with the lip thing. 🤔 I do know if your sister dares you to put a rubber band around your nose...don't do it. My nose was purple for a week! Great video, you always explain things in simple terms to me. ❤
I really wish ppl would stop messing with their lips so haphazardly. I had an inflamed tissue growth in my lower lip as a 12 year old from something as simple as playing clarinet in school band. It impacted my self-esteem extremely negatively. My only option was to get it surgically removed, which I did, but it was a very negative experience in my youth and wouldn't wish the experience on anyone else.
My family (all women, mostly cis) is split on the makeup idea. Half of us feel it's 'lying'/unnecessary, and the other half don't feel it's necessary but like it anyway. I just came up with the analogy that it's kinda like adding garlic to buttered toast. The taste will be different and it mostly won't be evaluated in comparison to other buttered toasts, it'll be evaluated compared to other garlic breads. Some people like how toast tastes without garlic, and some prefer it with. It doesn't mean that adding garlic is lying about how good the buttered toast is on its own, or stating that buttered toast is bad - it's just a different preference.
Any time anyone does a tutorial for a one size fits all technique (like the first one you cover in this video) I'm already out. Faces and bone structure vary SO much, but we should only use 2 contour techniques depending on if we want to be masculine or feminine? Nope. Awesome video per usual Robert!
That girl with the rubber bands on her lips- 🤦🏼♀️ omg that was extremely disturbing to watch! It actually upset me not only because it looked gross, pointless and kinda painful, but because her struggling to remove them and smearing lipstick everywhere was just painfully awkward! I’m yelling “just use some damn tweezers”! But seriously though, WHY!?!
LOVED the woman who schooled that person who posted that comment about women and makeup!! Why is it threatening to ANYONE if someone wears makeup. How does that threaten a NORMAL PERSON?! Oh wiat, it DOESN'T threaten a normal well adjusted person
While i understand that make up is not originally a misogynistic tool but more of an ancient for of self decoration, we have to admit that the modern day makeup industry preys on women by telling them that theyre not good enough and that they should buy xyz product. Its not nearly as marketed towards other genders as it is towards women, and most of the products that come out now are "your skin but better" "concealing blemishes and imperfections" "anti aging" or whatever bs. That being said, i love makeup and i love the art and self expression that comes with it, and i fully disagree who shit on "clown paint". I just wish the situation was better.
Not sure if anyone's suggested this before but would you ever make a video recommending some books for people who are super into makeup? When you brought up pretty boys my ears perked up and I started wondering what other makeup books you might have (whether they're about makeup history, look books, teach makeup techniques etc.). I think that'd be a really interesting video!
I will seriously wake up super early before work, not just to have my water, oatmeal, and coffee but to take the time and do my make-up. I always feel better afterwards. It relaxes me and it makes me feel good about myself.
I don’t usually wear makeup, sven though I do it well. Personal preference. My man likes it when I put on makeup and supports it. He loves me with or without it. He’s definitely a keeper 😂
I love watching your commentary on brands and use and everything. I would LOVE your opinion on Clinique. I've used it for years, and it seems to still be the best for my skin as I navigate my 40s. But I would really like to see what you think about clinique foundations mostly. I've migrated toward Lancome mascara now, as it's gentler on my eyes, so I'm rethinking everything, but don't want to waste money trying things out. ❤❤
As someone who wear’s make up everyday whether I leave the house to be creative with my look thank you for appreciating me. It has nothing to do with vanity and everything to do with my creativity and I’ve still been called a narcissist. I am not physically well and make up makes me happy. If I can at least look a little bit pretty then that’s something. Then I usually try to create something else pretty too. So thank you. It’s nice to know someone else understands.
If you didn't wear makeup then people would say you are letting yourself go. There is just no winning with this kind of people so the best thing to do is just ignore it or let them know that their fixation in your physical appearance is creepy
@@completelycrazy1 exactly. They say that makeup is a choice, but they ridicule us for wearing and mercilessly shame us for not wearing it. So we might as well have some fun and be creative with it because winning is not even an option.
0:27 Based on science? Pffft! I’d like to see the journal article on that 😂 I get my brows microbladed. She goes by my bone structure. I couldn’t imagine her doing the same brow shape on every client she sees. Science…that makes me laugh
The process of makeup and skincare is almost meditation for me. Makeup itself? I consider it adornment amd expression. If i can customize a character in a game, why not "customize" myself? It's like a more temporary version of my tattoos and piercings.
On 4:03 the caption on the video says "preenchimento labial caseiro" in Portuguese, which translates to "homemade lip filler" or "DIY lip filler", in the sense that you can do it yourself. You see that her lips are kind of swollen after. It's another take on the hacks that use shot glasses and other stuff to temporarily puff her lips up.
What I’m trying to say about the science contour -
Makeup contour isn’t washed away by light/flash like the natural shadows of our bone structure. So to put contour in those areas will just look flat in pictures and certain lighting situations 👍🏼
@RobertWelsh bce is before common era.
yeah that video made literally no sense...
OH MY DOG!! I just noticed you're now a millionaire... that's so awesome!! ❤
But whyyyyy do red lipstick before taking the bands off?? I'm so tired of them trying to go viral 😂
That was so fucking bizarre i can't even handle it
I was like what is wrong with her lips is she ok?
I thought she had a facial deformity at first
if I see another person tying a band around their lip until it's about to pop I'm going to lose my actual sh*t.
Amen! It made me feel sick watching it and it looked an absolute mess!
Srsly…WTELF?!
People putting those bands on their lips gives me such anxiety.
it literally makes my skin crawl and i can't keep looking, like i'll close my eyes until it's over! so fukin uncomfortable to see lol.
Wait, it’s not satire? 😟😟 i literally thought it was a joke
That chick trying to look sultry while wiping lipstick off her damn chin has been the highlight of my day 💀
i instantly thought about a thing my dad used to say for decades "and if it were trendy to hammer your nails blue, they'd do it too"
Robert is always gracious and a gentleman. But his micro-expressions tell us when he thinks something is stupid, lol
🤭🖤
We kinda "know" him so well by now we can tell when he's smiling with his eyes and when he's not 😂❤
Lol plus the classic Welsh twins “it’s fine. I mean… it’s fiiiiine”
Went on a blind date yesterday , the guy that sent me pics of himself 20 years ago said he doesn’t like women in make up or high heels or trousers 😂😂😂 wtf
I said well I fancied you 20 years ago when your profile pic was taken
They can be so shallow 😭 Also what a massive red flag, he might as well say “if you date me I’m going to try to control the minute details of your life and appearance and make you miserable”
We don't talk enough about male catfishing.
That clap back 🙌
Preach!!! I don't have a single makeup product that states 'for women only' on it. 'do your wife and kids support this? '
TF?
@@eldritchyarnbeing3295That’s such an awesome story! I’d be proud to be that man’s grandchild too! There should be a movie about him 😊
Gendering things pointlessly is so very silly.
That was a troll
@@LunarElevenNot to mention “pink” actually just used to be called “light red”. It’s ridiculous that we are gendering colours now 😂
@@LunarEleven the thing about self-confidence is that we only teach girls that they should use makeup to feel more confident, not boys...

THANK YOU for your little rant at the end (and book recommendation!)
The 'science of contour' ignores that we are not just skin covering a skull and that we do not all have the same skull or desired outcome.
I died when he said “Maybe they don’t like men who don’t” (wear makeup). Men who wear makeup are sexy.
Watching you watch these videos is like watching Miranda Priestly look at a new collection. “He pursed his lips, he thinks its crap.”
Well said.
Preach! Some people accessorize with jewelry or watches. I accessorize with eyeliner! Or what ever else I decide should grace my face.
Same, I use it as a coping mechanism to help me continue the day. As there are really days I can’t brung myself to do anything
Stop insulting the Paleo people. They did Take Care of themselves.
No one needs botox for cosmetic reasons!
No one needs anything for cosmetic reasons, that's kind of the point. @@anitaevans2432
@@anitaevans2432No, but what does it matter to you if someone wants cosmetic botox to feel more comfortable in their skin?
Yes men always assume why women wear makeup but never really ask them. Everyone’s reasons for what and how they wear makeup is different.
I've never hated something more in my life 💀
its one of those deliberately crappy videos that are designed to make you rewatch it a dozen times trying to figure out what's going on, and/or comment saying it's confusing or dumb. basically engagement bait.
😭😭😭😭lip plumpers exist and are at least safer than whatver that was??? omg why, these "hacks" are not making it easier
But how how do they get the elastics on there in the first place??
So I wrote a book based on research I did about fashion/makeup/body presentation in the LGBTQ+ community and one of the conclusions I came to is that people like makeup because it’s art you can shamelessly show off. As an artist, I don’t walk around with my paintings all day yelling “look at this”! But I do my makeup and make my own clothes and walk around in public and talk to people and therefore get to promote my art in a more socially acceptable way
I wear makeup because I'm ugly without
This is a conversation my dad once had with a coworker.
Men have worn makeup for millennia and on all continents. Pretending it's not manly because history is dumb and false.
Hi Robert! I’m a 64 year old woman- from Idaho USA and I love your posts. I wear some makeup but honestly, I’m just too lazy to wear it everyday since I have retired. I enjoy your humor, skill and artistic talent and I hope you continue to educate us!

I just haaaate the lip tying thing. It looks like what I think a hernia looks like and 🤢🤢🤢
I tried that crescent method once (high school theater, not enough boys in the cast, you can probably connect the dots) but since my jawline and cheekbones are already prominent, I just looked like a sunken corpse lol
11:55 preach Robert! makeup is for everyone, and means something different to everyone. you can't paint it with just one shade of meaning that's the same for every person.

The third one is a Demi Colour by Seint representative. It's an MLM.
Can't stand those!

Robert, can you PLEASE do more makeup based book recommendations? 💖
I completely get what you are saying with my filler and botox, it changes everything
I wish I could like this comment more than once. You said it perfectly.
The Kevyn Aucoin book is iconic.
