Miss the SAABs. Awesome little airliner. IMO the move to the Q300s was a retrograde step...Should've held on a little longer and purchased the ATR 42-500. Air NZ simply couldn't get its own way with EADS at the time, ie couldn't get a discount on bulk purchase. Bombardier did...then promptly canned the Q300 line.
Same here as well. I prefer Saabs over Dash 8's, better leg room on the window seats and you also feel like you really are flying. The noise inside can be a blast especially when powering up on the runway, everything vibrates and shakes.
ZK-NLC operates for Estonian Air Regional as ES-ASN. ZK-FXA operates for Western Air in the Bahamas as C6-JAY. ZK-FXD is still in the Air NZ livery (not whited out) and is a cargo aircraft for Saint ex Cargo in Mexico registered as XZ-MGD. ZK-NLS was with Robin Hood aviation as OE-GIR in a whited-out Air NZ livery.
Nearly all of them went to Europe. Spint Air, Estonian Air Regional, etc, some were converted to freighters. One went to Australia for a few years before going to Sprint Air. Another operates in the pacific.
The Saabs were awesome...I made sure I got a single seat when Iflew out of Tauranga. A pity Air NZ has a one type policy for it's subsidaries, Eagle Air could've graduated up with the Saab over time.
You're an absolute legend mate. Thanks for this the only clip on UA-cam to feature the Air New Zealand Saab :)

Their engine noise was very loud we used to get these in Gisborne But now we mainly get the Beechcraft 1900D
@Goku wow you do to ✈✈
@baron494 Its been a few years since they operated them, the Q300's replaced the Saabs.
