It's cool to see the details of this swap! I remember it being quite the task. Doesn't make sense why they made so many of the modules different. It cost more at the factory to do so. I definitely though it would be an easier process, but apparently not. Still came out amazing!
Sad that you couldn't get it all to work. I think some of the issue with Ford is the volume of units they sell. They can afford to make these changes to make "conversions" difficult :). I wonder if RAM and Chevy have the same issues given, they don't change as much year over year. I would dig you going back to the "roots" and getting a wrecked truck and making it nice. Maybe get 2 and move everything interior wise over to make one that is the real dream truck. I feel you on the wanting your tools to be nice. No one likes pulling out a beat-up barely working lawn mower to cut the grass. A tool is a tool, but you want it to stay nice. Keep up the great work as always!

Man. This video makes me feel not so crazy. Fords are really wonky i read about all the people having success with forscan ive only been able to get certain things to work and others not. This is the kind of project i would love to try hut would hate myself once i started hitting walls. Im sure some people wont find this interesting but i love when you go full “autistic troubleshooting” mode. Im sure i just offended someone lol f em

The obd differences, how one is a plug vs one being a module. That is the 2 different styles of the gateway module that ford uses.

Also the communication issues. Every module in these newer fords are vin coded. It needs to see the same vin between all the modules

I’ve been wanting to do this to my 2017 f350 platinum. Can I use my stock cab and dash harness? Or do I need to swap to a 2022 harness?
Yeah you would put in the 2022 dash just wiring the plug for the screen and use your wiring harness and everything should work really good

In order to test wires correctly u have to load test them. Ohm testing isn’t an efficient way to diagnose
Believe me I’m an automotive technician and it makes it twice as hard but ohm testing can pass but will the circuit hold a load?
