@@richardnock2198 oh dude when they watched the civil war trailer, they were so excited. They always have something interesting to say about the comics and the movie
Dude on the left didn't savor the impact of the trailer like the other two did. He just gulped down the wine, and quickly started drunk-talking, while the other two just sat basked in the glory of the taste and experience for a minute.
Hmm, I’d ordinarily agree with Hector, but I’d like to see the tone remain in the Fincher Seven vibe and adding Robin, Batgirl and especially Superman is not something I personally need to see right now. I don’t think the Superman aesthetics fits in with this real world film. It’s so good to hear you guys again.
He totally lost me the moment he said Superman. It's like he totally doesn't get what this film is. Robin and Batgirl are more than possible. At the very least, we could learn as early as this first film that Gordon has a daughter. So Batgirl is an easy hanging thread whenever they want to pull on it. Robin is actually the harder of the two, almost a distraction, because you know... CIRCUS. Then again, in most Robin origin interpretations, it's just some mob guys trying to shake down the circus who kill the Graysons. So at least that fits with a street level vibe, even if Circuses usually don't. Another thing he doesn't seem to get is the "Batman is the real one and Bruce is the mask" notion. All that jawing about hoping we get more Bruce. Um. Sure. But only with the understanding that Bruce is a PERFORMANCE. Although if this is only 2 years after he's returned to Gotham from traveling, I could fully understand a version where Bruce is just as moody and emo as we assume he would be with Pattinson playing him. This could be about him building the sauve version and not being there yet.
@@Wiley_Coyote I get what this trailer is setting out to do. I also get how Batman works in the larger DC Universe and am not limiting the potentiality to *just* being a Gotham story. We have plenty great examples of that.
Nah, I'd really prefer this stays isolated. There are 2 versions of Batman typically: the superhero type that is in the justice league and wider dc universe stories, and then the far more interesting version that exists solely within gotham and is always more cerebral and multifaceted, that is portrayed in groundbreaking or critically acclaimed stories. Batman is not like other heroes in that his own universe is rich and deep enough to not be codependent on crossovers.
^^^^^^ This guy gets it. ^^^^^^^ Nailed it perfectly. Denny O'Neals revitalization of Batman as the detective and Neal Adams follow on as Batman as a brutal realist on the streets. The Batman that lives and works in a past its prime city given over to many troubles doing his best, ALONE, to stem the flow of both the high concept nutters of his rogues gallery and street level criminals.
I think the Arkham series, and Arkham City especially, is proof enough that Batman’s own world has more than enough content and story for him to be in. The whole segment when Batman drinks from the chalice and travels through Ra’s’ “realm” made me realize how varied Batman’s stories can be, and can go from the grounded to the mythical
@@Justin_GFM Another great point, sir, Yes. Batman...the only character with a mega successful run of games all set In Universe within the confines of Gotham and his own rogues gallery setting enough differentiated gameplay and dynamics that excels without the need for Superhumans and the overly fantasy orientated Godlike heroes of the rest of DC.
@@hectorminator I get what you're saying, but I personally feel like he works better within his own lore and setting as opposed to the larger dcu. I feel like a lot of batman fans would agree. For example, I find a story like 'Ego' far more appealing than 'tower of babel'. I'm not opposed to using robin or creating the bat family in sequels to Matt Reeves story, but introducing a rebooted superman or other superheroes is way too much and clearly unnecessary for the story and tone they want to go for. Why should Nolan be the only one to craft a standalone saga? Besides there is still technically a shared universe that still exists, with WW, aquaman, the Snyder cut coming, and Affleck returning in the flash, fans will already get the chance to experience the 2 versions of the character I'm referring to. I just don't get people's obsession with constant, codependent shared franchises. I personally, am sick of them. Thanks disney...
this will be 'detective batman' based off loosely on se7en film. there wont be robin. it will be more of noir crime film were batman is on the focus on a different level, not the cool tough batman, but the broken one who will be against 6 villains and he himself will be the final victim of one in the end. like the film se7en. he wont die but he will be changed in the end.
I had high hopes based on the crew behind the camera. Pattinson has shown after twilight that he has the acting skills... But even knowing all that, this still blew me away. The tone!!! Detective batman!! And I love the title! He's not the "caped crusader" yet. It's still early in his "career" and people still don't know what to make of him (a masked weirdo) and that makes him THE batman. Kinda like the boogie man.
Two crossovers I would’ve loved to see: • Christian Bale’s Batman vs. Brandon Routh’s Superman. • Robert Pattinson’s Batman vs. Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.
1. Batman wont be in bobot suit this time! Rob can MOVE / ACTUALLY FIGHT (dance)!!! => He'll do his own fighting?! 2. The voice is smart and well conceived. Real. 3. Rob offers emotional availability. Like Heath LEDGE-ND. 4. I like you guys. I SUBSCRIBED.
Can't believe reeves was able to produce a awesome trailer like this with only 27% of the film shot. Love the seven feel!! And love his interview, where he tackles gotham pd corruption. Great Great material there
Funny I remember pre-pandemic saying that you guy's should do remote reactions if you can't get together. I also remember getting roasted for suggesting it. Seems to work fine to me. Together is always best, but this is a good alternative.
If this movie comes out the way it looks in the trailer, it will be a masterpiece..!! Because people always gets connected to a emotional background and history behind a person's personality...The Batman is an emotional character and people need to know the drive or reason behind a man becoming vigilante for his whole life....as we know " when you devote yourself to an ideal and if they can't stop you, then you become a legend". Like DC did the humanizing touch for JOKER - MASTERPIECE. RIDDLER looks to expose the corruption in Gotham City and the Court of Owls to the Batman and also mocking Batman ideals of JUSTICE. A noir detective movie, a mixture of movies "SEVEN" and "ZODIAC". BATMAN is not only fighting outside but also fighting within himself. As a year 2 Batman, it will be interesting to see that how the internal chaos and fighting of ideals within himself gets him transformed from "VENGEANCE" to "JUSTICE". I hope this comes out exactly like I mentioned.
This Batman has the possibility of being my favorite. Loving where Reeves is going with it. Excited for this movie. Can't wait to see more Riddler in future trailers because I don't know much about him. That score is lit and Pattinson will completely kill this role. 2021 is a great year for DC fans
After watching this trailer, people are going to see what I knew all along. That Robert Pattinson would make this movie despite mostly being known as Mr. Twilight. He's make some award winning movies since that time.
Anyone who thinks Pattinson is anything less than a great actor is an idiot, if some of these people who criticize him actually watched good time or lighthouse or the rover and others they’d see his a fantastic actor but they’re too blinded by twilight a decade ago.
what I love is this movie focuses more on the detective side of Batman which is never really been explored in movies that much so it will make for a great mystery on how he'll figure out who the Riddler is
I really really hope we can see intelligent and an actual detective Batman for once. In the comics and games he always outwits and out-smarts each villain, especially with Riddler. One of Batman's core elements is his intelligence, besides his martial arts and strength his intelligence is what makes Batman an absolute menace.
Court of owls could be a strong possibility....the Riddlers card (let's play a game etc) that's opened has an owl on the front of it, so maybe Riddler is a member or working alongside them
I love that theoretical angle of the Wayne family possibly thriving on financial complicity, and Bruce growing up to discover the truth. This is a fresh concept to render him unaccepted by Gotham and possibly seeking acceptance through The Batman. Awesome!!
The Batman trailer the Riddler says If you are Justice plz do not lie.what is the price for your blind eye." I love this line because lady Justice wears a blindfold. I still don't know the riddle but I like the symbolism in those words. Maybe Batman is blinded by his own Justice he seeks.
I definitely agree that Robert Pattinson and Paul Dano are so underrated. This movie is going to solidify their place in movies for sure. Thanks for the review!
I love that Reeves talked about us experiencing Bruce's feelings in first person. And yes, I've heard the comparison to Seven. It's the perfect combo for a detective story for Batman.
And to just think that matt reeves has only made 25% of this movie this is going to be soo badass I know people are already praising robert Pattinson as batman but the casting of Paul dano as the riddler is pure genius 👏 the man is such a great talent can't wait for this
I’ve watched a lot of these reaction vids and this one is the most spot on by far. Great point about Paul Dano being able to really bring out the creepiness of the Riddler. I could see his performance potentially being in Ledger Joker category once we see him in action. Can’t wait for this film.
Batman in the comic is the smartest character who outwits all his villains. In Darkknight trilogy, the wit is not shown, just action-packed; hope this version completes the arc of what batman suppose to be.
I always felt Nolan's Batman was always least interesting part of his trilogy. Not at all a bad Batman/Bruce Wayne, just that other parts (mostly villain characters) were more interesting. This feels like the Riddler will be amazing, but the true centerpiece of the movie is going to be Batman character
The court of owls is definitely a part of it. Seeing the little card with the riddle had an owl on the front... A riddle wrap in an enigma. I got Court of Owls vibe, Hush totally, and Long Halloween...?0?01 can't wait!
I love that DC is going all in on the isolated projects. The creativity is unlimited for those involved with the film, they don't have to worry about anything being connected to other projects.
This is like Batman: Year One comic and cartoon, but more like Year 2 or 3 where Gordon and him are building their relationship but still on Rocky grounds with eachother.
@@protocorpse no it's not lol. They're both just made by the production company DC Black Label. And Joker's director Todd Philips already confirmed it wasn't connected in any way. I'm pretty sure the Court of Owls will be involved at some point. That's what was probably meant with the "you're connected to this". Corruption goes so deep that the Wayne's had their hands in some sketchy stuff to get that rich.
I just realised that the shot of the card that Gordon opens with the riddle inside there is a very brief glimpse of the front of the card before he opens it and there’s a picture of an owl on the cover. Perhaps a reference that The Court of Owls will be part of this movie somehow?
Broke Guy I won’t spoil who they are for you but if you want to read up on a few storylines there is a collected edition graphic novel called Batman: The Court of Owls which collates a series of stories featuring them. The Hyper Heroes crew may be able to suggest some other books as well?

Nailed it perfectly.
What if I told you... those can be (and have been) the same thing?
Batman in his own universe is all I want. I hope reeves keeps it to Batman and maybe Robin and thats it
this will be 'detective batman' based off loosely on se7en film. there wont be robin. it will be more of noir crime film were batman is on the focus on a different level, not the cool tough batman, but the broken one who will be against 6 villains and he himself will be the final victim of one in the end. like the film se7en. he wont die but he will be changed in the end.
@@fayHoran ok thanks mr reeves
@@baronbayne9899 no problem bayne
i want the night wing as first robin then jason todd’s story but the way they did it in the arkham game not the comics
@@fayHoran dummy
I had high hopes based on the crew behind the camera. Pattinson has shown after twilight that he has the acting skills... But even knowing all that, this still blew me away.
The tone!!! Detective batman!!
And I love the title! He's not the "caped crusader" yet. It's still early in his "career" and people still don't know what to make of him (a masked weirdo) and that makes him THE batman.
Kinda like the boogie man.
Two crossovers I would’ve loved to see:
• Christian Bale’s Batman vs. Brandon Routh’s Superman.
• Robert Pattinson’s Batman vs. Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.
1. Batman wont be in bobot suit this time! Rob can MOVE / ACTUALLY FIGHT (dance)!!! => He'll do his own fighting?!
2. The voice is smart and well conceived. Real.
3. Rob offers emotional availability. Like Heath LEDGE-ND.
4. I like you guys. I SUBSCRIBED.
Thanks!!!
Honestly I want a isolated Batman thing. Explore Gotham and the villains before even bringing in robin
Too early for robin. Only his second year.
This is great because it takes you back to the early comics of detective work and the early years of him learning to be Batman ….really liked it
As a die hard marvel guy I loved this trailer. Hopefully they didnt put all the good parts in the trailer.
They have only filmed 25% of the movie so this teaser isn’t even half of what the movie has to offer 😆
@@rachelferiz7893 yeah i cant believe they made such an amazing trailer with that little footage. Should be a pretty long movie, hopefully 😄
Guys, you don't know how much I was waiting for your reaction. Welcome Back!
@Evz Seriously man. So much DC stuff.. Their reaction was much awaited.
Dude I know right!!! I knew it was coming, lol.
I'm watching trying to relive the hype of this moment. Wish I could get dementia and time travel to relive it all lol
This feels like what the comic fans want in a Batman movie. I've never been happier about how wrong I was when I said this wouldn't live up.
Guys I don’t know if you noticed but the card from the riddler had an owl on the front maybe court of owls?
I love the pattern of people getting PISSED at a Batman casting decision. Every time, they’re proven wrong.
Looks like that was the case once again.
Facts
Court of owls could be a strong possibility....the Riddlers card (let's play a game etc) that's opened has an owl on the front of it, so maybe Riddler is a member or working alongside them
Yeah it would be awesome if the trilogy led to the court of owls to be the endgame!!
"This guys CRAZY!!"
-The Penguin
Yep...thats him btw 😁
I love that theoretical angle of the Wayne family possibly thriving on financial complicity, and Bruce growing up to discover the truth. This is a fresh concept to render him unaccepted by Gotham and possibly seeking acceptance through The Batman. Awesome!!
Thanks! I agree!!
The Batman trailer the Riddler says If you are Justice plz do not lie.what is the price for your blind eye."
I love this line because lady Justice wears a blindfold.
I would definitely watch a TED Talk with Matt Reeves discussing Batman. Good idea. Sign me up!
Hey guys, was waiting to hear from y'all on this..so excited for this movie
It looks so Fire!🔥🔥🔥
@@opedits-ar8920 It's like exactly what i wanted from a new batman iteration but did not know until i saw this trailer
Pattinson and Paul dano are going to crush this
Batman in the comic is the smartest character who outwits all his villains.
Would be really awesome if the second traile, Batman say "I am the Night" and the last trailer he'll say "I'm Batman".
"WB" logo show up: "I LOVE THAT LOGO". VVVERY COOOOL.
RLM's parodies are just too damn accurate.
When Batman says "I'm vengeance" and Adam is like "OHOHOHOHO!". I felt the same way.
Now THIS, I can get behind.
So good to have you three back in the saddle.
Anyone notice The Penguin where he’s firing a gun. Colin Farrell at 4:55. In heavy prosthetics. No one notices him. ! Hahahah
The court of owls is definitely a part of it. Seeing the little card with the riddle had an owl on the front... A riddle wrap in an enigma. I got Court of Owls vibe, Hush totally, and Long Halloween...?0?01 can't wait!
Maybe at the end of this movie, Bruce found out that his parents is the higher ups in The Court and Riddler try to exposed it
@@underdogpunk6250 I think that's a pretty fair guess...
Court of Owls will probably be the line that unites the trilogy. This looks more like The Long Halloween or Hush.
I was thinking Hush too! Because of the face-tape.
Apperantly it’s the riddler but because it’s year 2 and he’s a new villan
@@nicholasdyer1172 they might have combined or layered some things?
It's the long halloween
Also the story changes, Reeves said Joker will be somewhere in the trilogy.
Glad to see these guys back together on this channel! Hopefully we see more of them here....
It's really like they put the same reality of footage like Joker, the colors or nearly the same!
Congrats on trending. Been following you guys for awhile
1:05 that was smooth Hector lol
Glad you guys all still do reactions.
I’ve been a fan of Matt Reeves ever since planet of the apes. I know it’s a totally different movie, but I just loved the way he did those films.
Love the more detective story approach to this movie. Reminded me of Se7en which I loved.
I honestly don’t mind them keeping him in a different universe and building more universes so they can do an actual Crisis on Infinite earths.
I just realised that the shot of the card that Gordon opens with the riddle inside there is a very brief glimpse of the front of the card before he opens it and there’s a picture of an owl on the cover. Perhaps a reference that The Court of Owls will be part of this movie somehow?
What's the Court of Owl? I have never read comics on Batman but I love the character. Could you reference me some popular must-read comics on Batman?
Broke Guy I won’t spoil who they are for you but if you want to read up on a few storylines there is a collected edition graphic novel called Batman: The Court of Owls which collates a series of stories featuring them. The Hyper Heroes crew may be able to suggest some other books as well?

I really wanna see a good scarecrow in the Matt Reeves' trilogy. He's a great character in the long halloween and by far my favorite villain.
Scarecrow or Calendar man...heck put them both in a Matt Reeves Batman movie.
I love how gothic this Batman movie looks. Reminds me of Dark City and The Crow. Can't wait
I want this version of Batman to fight deathstroke in one of the films. We haven't seen a Batman on film who has had a villain that will showcase his fighting abilities.

I think they should cast someone like Oscar Isaac or Daniel Craig if they ever do have a version of Deathstroke for this Batman.
Or maybe Brad Pitt. 🤔
Happy tears man, this is how Batman supposed to be.
so much time without watching your reactions (superhero news days)... and im so glad that you love the darwyn cooke mention... Matt Reeves is giving us the batman that we deserve. Congrats guys! :)
