I know what you mean about the other enthusiasts, it does make a difference. when I lived in England I was in the BSA motorcycle club and they were very friendly and helpful. On the other hand, I had a 1960 Riley 1.5 and joined one of the Riley clubs. They were a snobby bunch who said my BMC car was not a proper Riley.
It's crazy isn't it! So many shit fights in other car communities, they're supposed to be on the same team

Congratulations to you and Mrs Involvo'd! Cheers to many happy years of wrenching and cruising with your growing family! Here's a tip from a fellow Volvo dad - you can buy steel brackets that fit beneath/behind the fold down back cushion in the wagon to properly attach a baby seat. This provides the three attachment points you'll commonly find in modern cars without needing to modify an older vehicle.

Congrats on the beautiful new Volvo gal! I had those wheels on our 84 760 turbo back in the 80's. That car had an unsolvable issue as well, it would start and immediately die. Another start and it would keep going. I had it in every Volvo shop in Birmingham (Alabama) and no one was able to fix it. I started working on it myself and replaced everything but the hubcaps and it still had the problem when I sold it. Good luck with the 240!

And put caps on photo shoots! The 15s look better than the 14s although the alloy wheels on the 14s were Lepus (Arizona) & Dersus!

First of all congratulations for your beautiful child! And i just wanted to say, after hearing you talk about the Volvo community, i just joined this channel because i bought recently a 1993 940 sedan and i am very excited to work on it and fix it. It has no technicall inspection since 2004, but the engine works no problem, it's a D24T (or TIC, i don't know yet) . Has no rust on the body, just surface rust on the chasis. It's my first car and i am obsessed with cars. I love how involved ;) you actually are in explaining all the technicall bits of those cars. I am watching and learning. There is something with your voice too, therapeutic, relaxed and i like your personality, so i am going to keep watching. Keep up the great work and take care of your beautiful familly!♥

One of my Nebs is badly flat-spotted 😢 and they’re in dire need of a refurb but it’s too expensive at the moment. I’ve put it at the back for the same reason. Those alloys really set it off! You nailed the 80s vibe fella

Keep checking for open contacts on wire harnesses speccialyon the gounds that go to the body. Since you mention it has the ignition pickup verify the three cables that go into the ignition that they’re not broken or making bad contact inside the plug (happened to me once and it was similar to the issue you are having. Another thing could be the mass aiflow sensor harness plug or the sensor itself. That’s definitely a electrical problem influenced by temperature. I know youll find it sooner or later. BTW she looks gorgeous with those wheels.

Big congrats on your baby girl..! You can try out one more solution for your starting issues ie.. to add a relay to the starter motor...it works for most of my friends who has 740s and 940s as the climate over here in Malaysia is warm/hot throughout the years. Many of them were having the same starting issues and started right up (with just one crank) after the relay was added.

Just a quickie regarding the hot start problem if you still have it. Have you checked the fan temperature sensor ? These often create a problem if giving a false reading to the ECU so maybe worth giving it a look over. Nice to see you are increasing the Involvo'd fold with a beautiful little addition to the family. All the best to you, Mrs. Involvo'd and baby Involvo'd, and keep up the good work.....we all love keeping up with your developments !

Had those wheels on my old 760 turbo . The fuel regulator leaked on mine which made it run richer and richer as it was leaking fuel into the manifold. I couldn’t figure it out and fit months until it let go completely and filled the engine up with petrol 😂

Massive congrats for the expansion of the Volvo fanbase! 🤗I drive a Renault personally but I love working on Volvos too because, well, everybody seems to have them and they're just so well thought of and put together things. Massive fan. :) In two weeks I'll be honored to take my dear friend's 740 saloon to its first inspection after sitting for 13 years. So excited. That car has spent a part of its life in America as well. :D

I’ve just fitted some Virgos to my 940, it’s amazing how much of a difference a set if wheels make. And yeah the Volvo community is great. I’ve been into Volvos since I was a kid, particularly old boxy ones because of how much they stood out to other cars, but the community is definitely what led me to buy one for myself 👌
Agreed, total transformation! I was into Volvos as a kid too without realising it, must have been one of the few people that used to prefer driving the 'Regal' in GTA 1!

Regarding your starting issue the only thing that i could add to the advice thats already been given, it maybe possible that air was/is being drawn into the fuel manifold when the engine is warm due to dirty/damaged connection faces and seals, expanding and moving.
I think that you'll have to start at the begining i.e. clean spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, etc and work your way from there.
