Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series Speaker Upgrade | Door Card Removal | Focal Speaker Installation

- In this how to video, @JafffaAdventures shows you how to remove the front door cards on your Toyota Landcruiser 200 series. It's an easy job with only a phillips screwdriver and some trip tools required.
I also swap out the junk factory Toyota speakers for a set of Focal speakers and provide a sound bite comparison so that you can see back to back how well the Focal speakers perform.

IRON MAN … love it Terry. As I work through your incredible play list I continue to learn more about the 200 and more about you (sweatband ). I’m so grateful for your work producing these vids, they’re fantastic. I’m haven’t bought my 200 yet but will soon, not before learning as much a layperson can. I’m really hoping you have a prepurchase inspection for the average Jo but if not I would have learned a fair bit about these cars and the WA coast before I’m up to date. Love your work Terry keep the shiny side up 🍷 ( still working out that saying - don’t tell me )
Good stuff mate, I’m glad you found some value here. Please enjoy your stay and I’ll try and keep em rolling😎👍
As good as ever!
Did this recently also on my VX, also was so shocked at how crappy the factory speakers are, and that tiny magnet. Went with mid range Pioneers, but only because I have a Pioneer HU.
I added sound deadening around the speakers mounting area and all inside the door's too. So so good, like yours sound.
Awesome mate, thanks for sharing. I put that sound deadener in my 57 Chev and it was amazing the difference. Cheers👍😎
Great song choice for a Friday afternoon 🤘🤘
Gotta love a bit of Sabbath mate😉. Go well Peter👍😎
Another great vid Terry. Found some online for $345 delivered and purchased on your recommendation. Cheers, Andy
That’s a great price Andy, we’ll done mate. You will not be disappointed, of that I am certain. Cheers👍😎
Hey, Terry.
I put in my 200 gxl, Focal front, and rear speakers. Ec Android radio, amp and underseat Kenwood Subwoofer.
Dynamat sound detanator in all 4 doors set it all off. The bass and mid base is so much crisper and solid after sound detanator
That sounds like a mighty fine system mate, thanks for sharing 👍😎
I pound out my music EVERY time in the driver's seat, usually Tool, Powderfinger or RHCP. Nice to know, already, what to get once they start to crackle and die due to the abuse given.
Thanks for the tips, Terry 👌
No worries mate, enjoy the crankage 👍😎
Tool. Me too
Good stuff👍😎
Gday Terry, looks like you worked up a thirst installing those speakers mate, I’m sure you’ll have a bit of Akka dakka crankin on your travels, 🤙🤙🤙
Maaaate, only the best band in the world in my humble opinion 😉. Only reason I did not use them in the video is that youtube would have c@$k blocked my vid over copyright. Cheers👍😎
I am actually quite happy with the sound quality of my factory speakers. However, like they say "if it's too loud, you're too old" (great choice in music too, mate🤘)
Good stuff mate, glad what you have is working well for you👍😎
Nice mate, I may still do this to mine but as you know things are a foot here. Cheers Steve
Indeed mate, thanks for watching 👍😎
When you have the door panel off would be a great time to add Dynamat sound deadening. It helps with metal rattling noise and get better quality sound from speaker. It also reduces road noise to have a more quiet ride. You can add it all around your vehicle not just the doors.
I have it in my 57 Chev and you can see the installation in that build video in the library. It does work great. Cheers👍😎
Thank you so much for sharing. That certainly help us, owners of 200 series, to open the door panel for any reason. Question though, do not you need to check your audio system if it can support or utilize the speaker power?
Thanks mate, I appreciate the kind words. The audio system can support the speakers no worries at all. Cheers👍😎
Another great instruction video Terry
Thanks for sharing
Have you left on your trip to WA?
Cheers Ray
Thanks Ray, I am glad you found some value in it. We are indeed on the road, currently in Port Lincoln and head out to sea to go diving with great white sharks tomorrow. Loving life mate👍😎
@@JafffaAdventures fantastic
Enjoy your adventure
Would love to catch-up for a coffee if you are coming to the Bunbury area
Cheers Ray
I’ll keep that in mind if we pass through the area Ray, that would be great. Cheers👍😎
The impulse buy that kinda makes sense. Have you tried them with something like Balkan Gypsy music?
Mate they could not handle the sheer weight of that awesome style of music, they’d blow out😉😂😎
is the factory system on your 200 the JBL version ? Next to your head unit you will see it written and also on the speaker grilles..nevertheless amazing video thanks
No mate, the factory fitted unit was not JBL. Thanks for watching👍😎
Au contraire Uncle Terry, you do have to screw up the three door card screws @3:42 to put them back in; hahaha
Ok mate, ya got me😉😂👍😎
That was good video as always. In my Landcruiser I have JBL synthesis sound system with a subwoofer from factory. Is it the same system in yours. Underneath do I have the same Toyota speakers you guys have?
Cheers mate. My VX definitely did not have a JBL system, it was crappy Toyota branded speakers. Cheers👍😎
It looks like the kits may be different now as the speakers have slotted holes that look like they fit better than the ones you installed
That’s good to know Angus, thanks for sharing.👍😎
Hey there Terry,
Been watching your videos, only discovered them today, I have a 2014 LC 200 so getting a lot of great tips, looking forward to using your knowledge and advise to take care of my vehicle. Any advise on upgrading the sound quality of my audio system would be greatly appreciated, I had put in the Alpine Halo unit but need better sound.. Thanks again for your channel, it's been put together very well.
Thanks mate, I appreciate the kind words. I have the Tesla style head unit in mine because I wanted greater functionality than the ancient one Toyota gives you. The sound quality is much better than the Toyota head unit, but I would suspect (and I’m guessing here) that an Alpine unit or the like would be better again because that’s their business....sound units. I cannot answer your question specifically because sound is so very subjective, what I think sounds good, you might think sounds crap. I did do a review of the Tesla style head unit and that series of videos is in the 200 series playlist on my Jafffa Adventures channel. Go well mate👍😎
Thanks heaps Terry i saw the upgrade to the Tesla unit look great, more research has shown me that upgrading the front door speakers will make a difference for my situation so I'll give it a bash & let you know, keep up the great work👍
Good stuff mate, go well and enjoy the upgrade👍😎
I have 2008 GXL 4 door speakers + 2 others ? On the dash ? If so how do I replace them ! Thanks
I’ve not replaced my rear door speakers or the dash speakers mate, sorry👍
Great video as always Terry. Thanks. Do the windows touch the magnet at all when you wind them down? I installed some 6x9s in the past and had that problem.
Thanks for the kind words Steve. The windows do not touch the speakers at all mate, even in the fully down position. Cheers👍😎
Will these Focals work with a 2011 LC200 in the USA? Mine has the JBL system.
I could not imagine Toyota would make different inner door structures for the sake of different speakers. Surely they would stipulate to the speaker suppliers what size and design they want? Having said that, I’m not certain mate. Cheers👍😎
IC TOY 690 Focal aren't for Landcruisers correct part is IS TOY 690
One has tweeters, one doesnt. Both work perfectly in landcruisers
What VEOP said😉👍😎
Bit humid in Qld mate? LOL
It’s a killer in summer Bob🥵, but the winter can’t be beat 👍😎
